We like and strongly encourage helpful changes to Wikipedia, but an article you created was directly copied and pasted from the main English Wikipedia. Please do not do that. Such articles are usually too complex. They need to be simplified before or immediately after being added to the Simple English Wikipedia. In addition, be sure to include attribution on the article's talk page. Thank you. Operator873 connect 01:46, 19 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hello koqkpa. I noticed that you may have created User:Improver Bot. Please keep in mind that bots are not allowed unless they have been approved. The policy can be found here. I'm not sure what you mean. You can't delete accounts. If you aren't interested in making a bot request, then you could delete the bot files if you didn't need to use them again. --Ferien (talk) 19:30, 25 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

October 2022

change

Hello, Koqkpa. It looks like "Anne Graham Lotz" was derived from the English Wikipedia or another version of Wikipedia. If that is indeed the case, please make sure you add some form of attribution, either in your change summary or on the article's talk page. This must be done, even for derivative works, or the article will be deleted in time. More instructions on how to do this are at Wikipedia:Transwiki attribution. Thank you. MathXplore (talk) 04:16, 24 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

Yes it was written from the English Wikipedia, but I simplified it more, please tell me that it's okay and not going to be deleted Koqkpa (talk) 05:11, 24 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

I'm not sure if it is OK enough but hard words must be removed or replaced, just like "undergird", "itinerant" etc. In addition, I think the early life section is too long so having subsections in there would be better. MathXplore (talk) 05:15, 24 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

Okay, I'll find the meaning as simpler as it can be to be suitable for this wikia Koqkpa (talk) 05:17, 24 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

Wikiwand

change

Wikiwand is just a mirror of Wikipedia. So what you're doing on HD 210271 is basically citing the Chinese Wikipedia as a source, but it would be better to cite to the sources that the Chinese article uses. Also, that page seems to suggest that it is 120798 light years away, but you said 212 light years. Why is that? Lights and freedom (talk) 04:24, 8 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

Well, The 212 light years is written from the universe guide website. Koqkpa (talk) 05:18, 8 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

Koqkpa (talk) 05:18, 8 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

Is it accurate now? Koqkpa (talk) 05:24, 8 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

I don't really know why these two websites give different values. The Chinese article was created by a bot, and I don't know how to read the star coordinates given here: https://simbad.u-strasbg.fr/simbad/sim-id?Ident=HD+210271&NbIdent=1&Radius=2&Radius.unit=arcmin&submit=submit+id Lights and freedom (talk) 06:45, 8 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for your changes to Wikipedia, Koqkpa. However, I would like to remind you that when you use certain templates, such as "{{Welcome}},you should substitute them by adding "subst:" before the template's name. Re: "Inappropriate writing on sources"

Of course, there's always {{uw-vandal}}, but that would be a tad bit catch-all. Any ideas on what template would be suitable?

(For all I know, it could be on English Wikipedia.) Explodicator7331 (talk) 15:49, 7 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

Well, I guess uw-vandal should be used for most of warnings to users doing any kind of vandalism to this wikipedia. Koqkpa - TALK 16:08, 7 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hello, Koqkpa. The edit you made on the page 'example' was reverted because of a citation you added having inappropriate text in it, Wikipedians usually asd citations to show references to what they have written. Next time, please do not vandalize pages using citations with inappropriate text written in them. Thank you! Koqkpa talk 16:11, 8 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

User page sanitized...

change

Hello Koqkpa,

welcome to our wikipedia, I hope you like editing here.

As you have probably seen, I have just gone over your user page, and sanitized it a little. The internet is a big place, and people are sometimes not aware that reveal too much about themselves. The bits I removed are now also "oversighted", this means that they are hidden even from notmal admins (only a very few select users, with the "oversight" flag can see them, including stewards). All these users signed an agreement, meaning that under normal cirumstances, they cannot tell others, who didn't sign that agreement.

All the best. Eptalon (talk) 15:01, 11 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to change things here, but talk pages are meant to be a record of a discussion. Deleting or changing good comments, as you did at User talk:92.234.245.61, should not be done, even if you meant it well. Even fixing spelling and grammar in others' comments is usually advised against, because it can irritate the users whose wrote them. Infoboxes in articles

change

Hi, Koqkpa. Thanks for all the articles you have created. I noticed that in articles that have an infobox, you put the lead paragraph before the infobox. Instead, please put the infobox at the very top, before any article text. Thanks. If you have any questions about this, feel free to ask. -- Auntof6 (talk) 08:48, 30 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

So I have to put the infobox first, and then type about it?

Like this?:

Dactyl

Discovery
Discovery dateFebruary 17, 1994
Designations
Named after
Dactyls (mythology)
Dactyl (Ida I)

Dactyl (designated (243) Ida I Dactyl) is a tiny asteroid moon which is 1.6 km in diameter and orbits the asteroid 243 Ida in the asteroid belt. It was first imaged by the Galileo spacecraft on August 28, 1993; Dactyl was discovered while examining the delayed image downloads from the Galileo spacecraft on February 17, 1994. It was provisionally designated S/1993 (243) 1. The small moon was named after the mythical creatures called dactyls who lived on Mount Ida according to Greek mythology. Gilbert Turner and G10

change

Hello Koqkpa, you tagged this article as G10 but later changed it to G7. I've deleted the article under the G10 criteria. You see, when you use Twinkle to tag an article with G10, it automatically deletes everything else in the article. This is done to hide the attack in the page. — *Fehufangą✉ Talk page 12:49, 20 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

Oh, I actually did not know that. Sorry, I will be careful next time when tagging an attack page. Koqkpa talk 02:09, 21 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

Named references

change

(Please don't read this in source mode - that will be confusing.) In response to your edit here, that is a way to use a reference more than once without repeating all the info. So if I write

<ref name="example"> {{cite book | title=Sphinx of black quartz, judge my vow | date=29 February 2020}} </ref>

Then that reference is named "example". To call it later, you can use

<ref name="example"/>

But if you just copy the second reference without the first one, the page doesn't know what "example" is. So it creates an error. When I see that on a page, I copy over the full reference from enwiki, to replace the shortened reference. Lights and freedom (talk) 22:02, 21 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

Oh, I'll see if that works with my newest page. Koqkpa talk 02:42, 22 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
The reason your edit didn't work is the same as before. The software doesn't know what "Anderson2012" and "GaiaDR3" are. You have to include the full reference at least once on the page. Lights and freedom (talk) 03:29, 22 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
But how? You know I am blocked on the English Wikipedia, I take the source code from the Wikipedia Beta app. Because I am not blocked in one account in English Wikipedia, from the Wikipedia Beta app, everything is normal, but some references are like the one that does not work and for those references, I dont really see the full references expect its name. It could be a problem with the Wikipedia Beta app that it does not exhibit some references like that? Koqkpa talk 03:42, 22 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
If you're using a phone it can be difficult. Once you know the name of the reference, you need to search the enwiki article to find the full reference with that name. Then replace the shortened reference here with the full reference. Find and replace is helpful, if you can use it on your phone. Lights and freedom (talk) 03:47, 22 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
I'll try. Koqkpa talk 03:58, 22 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
It worked! Thanks Lights and freedom, or I'll just call you Light. Koqkpa talk 04:03, 22 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

Thoughts

change

I can understand your frustration at losing text: it has happened to me often enough! I wanted to mention another thing. I don't think it's sensible to drag over every source on En wiki. We have no evidence that school-level readers have any tolerance for the sort of ref overkill which is usual on En wiki. I feel our articles should select the key sources, and not try to source every statement. This is a personal opinion, not a Simple agreement. Always remember the readers! And they can always go to En wiki if they really want the full story. Macdonald-ross (talk) 09:36, 15 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
