This has nothing to do with Simple English Wikipedia. -DJSasso (talk) 15:15, 6 December 2016 (UTC)Reply

Template:Infobox software platform

Last month, you updated this template. However, it isn't used anywhere so I was thinking of nominating it for deletion. If you think it's worth keeping, could you add it to some articles? Thanks. --Auntof6 (talk) 05:36, 17 December 2016 (UTC)Reply

It is part of another template if I recall correctly, it is called as part of Template:Infobox software. So you can't tell that it is used by just looking at what links there. That being said I have no particular care one way or the other. I only created it because it was missing and the other box was throwing errors I think. -DJSasso (talk) 14:11, 20 December 2016 (UTC)Reply

Hello, just a little correction.

A tiny question for you; The other day I made an article on simplewiki under the title of Marie Gabrielle Éléonore de Bourbon and I noticed a few days after hat you had moved it to Marie Anne Éléonore de Bourbon. This is incorrect. As it clearly states in her article that she signed with the names "Marie Gabrielle Éléonore". I was actually blocked by the wonderfully bureaucratic bully User:Chenzw so am not able to discuss the move with you at length but I can assure you that she was M G É de Bourbon. Her own signature is also in the infbox on said article. I was actually the person that created her article on enwiki several years ago prior to having seen her signature and just naming her M A É out of ease. So I'd like to politely ask you if you could move it back to the correct (based on her own signature) and therefore more logical name. Obviously I would've messaged you on simplewiki but I've had that ability ripped away from me so this was the next best option. (Also a majority of the articles about her in other languages follow the M G É pattern too). Thanks. 78.149.139.99 (talk) 18:36, 6 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia uses WP:COMMONNAME for names which is not always their actual names. --DJSasso (talk) 23:41, 6 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

The wiki i made was not spam /vandalism

WTF I just made a page that wasn't even spam /vandalism and it got deleted Napro24567 (talk) 15:15, 29 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

The Wiki Editor SA

I noticed that you did a mass delete of pages created by The Wiki Editor SA (talk · contribs). Could you leave the user a note about why it is you deleted his/her pages? I was surprised to see the user has an empty user talk page despite his/her articles being mass deleted, and at least one of the articles having been nominated for RfD. It would be proper form to leave the user a message or notice explaining what the issues were with their articles. Thanks, Only (talk) 20:48, 1 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

User cross-wiki blocked. They are most likely aware but I can if you would like. That being said you leave messages when you speedy articles? (I should note I know the answer. I randomly checked 10 of your last 50 and none of them did) I don't think really anyone does. -DJSasso (talk) 11:34, 2 June 2017 (UTC)Reply
(talk page stalker) @Only: The page nominated for RfD should really have been QD'd, anyway. All of Wiki Editor SA's edits were disruptive. StevenJ81 (talk) 15:18, 2 June 2017 (UTC)Reply
I didn't see anything about a cross-wiki block until today when you blocked the account. I didn't know there was a connection to an IP. If I'd been aware of that previous, I wouldn't have left a message here; I definitely have no problem with you mass deleting a user's contributions if they're a known cross-wiki vandal. Since their named account only has contributions here, I had no knowledge of abuse on other wikis.
I leave notices generally if there's more than one article/issue; in the case of a mass delete like this, I would have left a message. Then again, I'm only really ever mass deleting if the user is also getting blocked. Most of my mass deletes lately have been for returning vandals so it's been a lot of delete, block, notify of the block. Only (talk) 20:00, 2 June 2017 (UTC)Reply
Yeah to be honest the actual block got missed cause I moved on to deleting the IP articles as well and then forgot to return to the account. -DJSasso (talk) 23:49, 2 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

Template:Taxobox

I see that you recently changed this taxobox. Was it because of the syntax errors in articles such as Carnivoramorpha? I was trying to get that article out of Category:Pages using duplicate arguments in template calls and saw the syntax issues. Is this something you're looking into? Could the problem have something to do with the fact that we don't have Template:Sets taxobox colour? --Auntof6 (talk) 22:06, 29 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

I updated it for something else. But that template was the fix to your problem. Thought I had grabbed all the templates we didn't already have. Thanks. -DJSasso (talk) 23:31, 29 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

Regarding your bugfix on the Taxobox

Hi Djsasso. I wonder if you could help me for a moment please. I've just had to undo the change to the Taxobox template you made June 29th, because I noticed while editing another article, that the Taxobox template was entirely broken, and had code remnants showing through in the box itself. The undo that I performed, appears to have fixed the broken box, but since you were trying to fix a bug, I am aware that I may have caused further complications. Is there any way you could have another look at the template code please, and see if you can sort out what went wrong? Many thanks, DaneGeld (talk) 21:15, 31 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

Could you let me know what page you saw the issues on? -DJSasso (talk) 10:32, 1 September 2017 (UTC)Reply
Yes, with pleasure. The problem was visible on the page Organism, where I initially thought the editor may have done something wrong when using the template. The template usage appeared correct, so I checked the documentation on Template:Taxobox and saw that the box was also broken there; there is a blank demonstration of the Taxobox on the bottom of the template page, and the resulting box that the code produced was also broken. I would like to take a screenshot to show you, but the box is widely used (about 3800 articles) and I don't want to make unnecessary edits. If you would like me to do this though, please let me know. Thank you! DaneGeld (talk) 14:28, 1 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

http vs. https

Hi, Djsasso. I'm curious about why you're undoing KolbertBot's changes where http was changed to https in external links. Are some of the https links not working? --Auntof6 (talk) 02:51, 18 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

I didn't undo any of his changes. I was undoing changes by an IP that was vandalizing. -DJSasso (talk) 02:53, 18 September 2017 (UTC)Reply
Its possible I caught one or two in a revert, but being a bot it will fix them again anyway, doesn't actually break anything. -DJSasso (talk) 02:56, 18 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

CU

Hi Djsasso, Is there really any point in keeping the report ?, I'm assuming no one's replied because it's inactionable/declined and all IPs blocked so far make no mention of the fact they're a sock so atleast in my eyes my report is simply a waste of space essentially ?,
Obviously I'm not gonna war over it but I really don't see the point in keeping it? ..., Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 03:13, 18 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

Reports are kept in case we need to go back and see history. Talk pages/reporting pages are essentially permanent. Not everything reported to CUs can be commented on. We can't actually link an IP to an account publicly so none of us could say whether or not those are socks of that user. -DJSasso (talk) 03:16, 18 September 2017 (UTC)Reply
Ahhhh right, Yeah I forgot about the public IP identifying thing, Okie dokie well thanks for reverting anyway :), Happy editing :), –Davey2010Talk 18:02, 18 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

edits to Template:Orphan

Your edits to Template:Orphan may cause the issue template to not show up on orphaned articles, or may cause the template to not show up correctly. Can you please do something about it? Angela Maureen (talk) 01:04, 21 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

It is working, it makes the template hidden so it doesn't show. -DJSasso (talk) 01:16, 21 September 2017 (UTC)Reply
I hadn't gotten to updating the documentation yet. It now explains how it works. It shows for couple of months and then it hides old ones but still categorizes them. If you want to always see them there is an explanation for what you can put in your css file to make them always show. Basically all I did was standardize the tag here with the tag on en.wiki as the orphan tag tends to get over used. -DJSasso (talk) 01:26, 21 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

Can you help me with some revdel & admin bits please?

I have 2 3 IP addresses here who have been hounding me for part of the morning. I tried to alert the staff on the IRC channel, but as always, it's deader than A-Line flares with pockets in the knees. One IP has edited my userpage, talk page and the article Danegeld (after which I'm named), and laid them with offensive vandalism suggesting I should have a seizure, hit my head and become a vegetable. The other has now banned me from their talk page and is removing warning messages from their talk page.

The ones leaving the very offensive vandalism is: https://simple.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/213.205.194.215 and https://simple.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/213.205.194.44 and the other with the delusion that they can ban people from their talk page, is a school IP at: https://simple.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:5.150.113.43

Any help you can give me with these two is welcomed; there's no point putting them at VIP or warning them as they remove warnings and then (as they did with me) will probably threaten you. DaneGeld (talk) 11:00, 26 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

There is every point to placing these at VIP, that is our procedure. I have dealt with these now.--Peterdownunder (talk) 11:44, 26 September 2017 (UTC)Reply
Looks like you beat me to it. Thanks. -DJSasso (talk) 12:31, 26 September 2017 (UTC)Reply
Thank you both. I didn't put them at VIP because with them removing warnings, their talk pages were blank, so I expect I'd have been told they'd been insufficiently warned. I know everyone is busy, but I tried IRC, I tried pinging an admin there, I tried looking for admins in the en channel and found nobody. We seem to be sparse on the floor. DaneGeld (talk) 13:01, 26 September 2017 (UTC)Reply
Yeah I don't think many of us use IRC anymore. It got crazy there a few years back and people just stopped going on. Feel free to put it on VIP, worst case scenario is that no one takes action on it. I don't think anyone would get mad you reported vandalism. If it is something particularly offensive (ie libel or personal information etc) then feel free to email the oversight list and we can hide it. -DJSasso (talk) 13:08, 26 September 2017 (UTC)Reply
(talk page stalker) @DaneGeld: As admins, we're wise to the fact that people remove talk page warnings and VIP reports (I actually have the VIP page on my watchlist so that I see each change). Leave the warnings and post at VIP anyway. Then if an admin doesn't check for deletions and says the person wasn't sufficiently warned, just point out that we need to check the page history. Of course, that's assuming that they really did get an appropriate number of graduated warnings, and, if it's an IP, that the warnings were within a close enough time frame. --Auntof6 (talk) 13:47, 26 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

User:Auntof6/linkclassifier.js

Do you know what exactly was deprecated that was on this page? What was the source of what you copied over? --Auntof6 (talk) 18:46, 1 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

Specifically no, I just copied over the most current version from the source that the comments on that script say it was copied from. en:User:Anomie/linkclassifier.js. It might say on the contribs there what needed to be fixed. -DJSasso (talk) 19:17, 3 November 2017 (UTC)Reply
OK, thanks. I don't know if what you copied was copacetic, either, but I'll look at it. I do know that it required extensive changes for Simple, and the version on enwiki is probably no use here. --Auntof6 (talk) 19:23, 3 November 2017 (UTC)Reply
Yeah by all means revert me. Was just trying to help out. :) -DJSasso (talk) 19:24, 3 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

You've been importing a lot of templates and things recently, right? Could that have anything to do with the hundreds of new wanted maintenance categories? --Auntof6 (talk) 19:12, 1 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

And some non-maintenance cats, too. --Auntof6 (talk) 19:16, 1 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

Template:Infobox Swiss town/map

Do you think the error on Poschiavo is coming from Template:Infobox Swiss town/map? Looks like you just did an update, so I don't think so, but I'm not sure where else to look. Thanks! --Tbennert (talk) 16:28, 2 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

Yeah I only brought over some of the map templates. Looks like that editor copied over the infobox from en and it did not have the right module to display everything en displays. I have brought it over. I will end up going trough and getting all the parts but didn't expect someone to bring over a box from there so fast. -DJSasso (talk) 17:05, 2 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

SassoBot

Is SassoBot not running any more? Its last change was on October 3. --Auntof6 (talk) 02:57, 14 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

I use when I need it for various tasks. Since BarrasBot has been running lately I haven't used it for archiving if that is what you are asking about. If he is down again I can turn it back on. -DJSasso (talk) 14:56, 15 November 2017 (UTC)Reply
Thanks. Yes, I was looking at archiving. SassoBot archived my talk page two times since the last time BarrasBot did on 8 September, but I see that BarrasBot has been archiving other user talk pages recently. Maybe there's something about my user talk page specifically, but I don't see what it could be. --Auntof6 (talk) 17:28, 15 November 2017 (UTC)Reply
I will take a look when I get home and run it and see if it archives anything. -DJSasso (talk) 17:42, 15 November 2017 (UTC)Reply
Thanks. --Auntof6 (talk) 17:51, 15 November 2017 (UTC)Reply
Yeah not sure why his is skipping you but its easy enough for me to set mine up to run to catch any he doesn't. I probably won't get it up and going tonight but I will try to remember. -DJSasso (talk) 01:05, 16 November 2017 (UTC)Reply
Thanks again. I see that SassoBot has now archived a lot from my talk page. --Auntof6 (talk) 01:42, 16 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hey if you ever get a change can you check out my sandbox version of {{TCMdb title}} to see if I push it to main, if would break any of the existing structures of the template. As I pulled it over from English Wikipedia to try to help use the WikiData property's. Also I am not sure as the {{Authority control}} template could be updated to use the Wikidata properties, as such we wouldn't have to worry about the params, but that would have to use the Module System from English Wikipedia, which should work. But I believe it would be an admin that would have to work on that. Thanks, --Clarkcj12 (talk) 17:59, 13 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

Editing hiatus and bot operation

Hi there, and sorry about the long break in editing (along with the bot). University has made life more hectic than I originally expected. Question

@Djsasso: In response to the comment you left for me on WP:RFP, I do agree to everything you said. I have since went back and added the proper atrribution to the articles, templates, and etc. I do have one question though is it needed to provide attribution for even minor edits such as adding an infobox/navbox or authority control to an article? What about a minor section such as related pages, I do copy that from en.wiki as such it is already formatted out, and makes it easier since it is already filled out most of the time. Does something that minor require us to put a {{Based on}} template on the talk page as well, even though all of that information is found on the simple.wiki page? As that is what my major contribus have been to expanding the, French Communes articles by providing more information through infobox, navbox and related pages, and on BLP's copying references for paragraphs that are very similar to en.wiki.. --Clarkcj12 (talk) 00:38, 22 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

No those are mostly ok. It was more the wholesale copying of templates you created that I was commenting on. If you were to copy over a whole section of an article I might just mention in the edit summary where you are getting it from. But for things like infoboxes/navboxes being added to articles it doesn't matter. -DJSasso (talk) 00:53, 22 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

Better way

Is there a better way to do the attribution for the templates I do bring over? I know I tried doing the based on the talk and they always got deleted by an admin. So I did in edit summary from then en.wiki link. I would do import if that would work better if I could like you are doing. Is there a better way to do the attribution then or am I doing okay? --Clarkcj12 (talk) 04:56, 4 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

Edit summary is perfectly fine, I only was doing the imports so that I could pull over any other templates those ones used which was easier than me looking through code. I am trying to bring all our templates up to date. We had a big mishmash of half updated templates because people were updating the main template and then never updating ones that it used, so I was checking on those to see if they called anything else that might not have been caught in my earlier updating. -DJSasso (talk) 04:59, 4 January 2018 (UTC)Reply
Is there a way I could help you with that? But I know just one person doing that would/will take a lot of time to do it. --Clarkcj12 (talk) 05:01, 4 January 2018 (UTC)Reply
Generally we don't give import out to non-admins cause its a pretty powerful tool than can do quite a bit of damage. Even I make the odd mistake and its a lot easier to clean up your mistakes if you have admin tools to do it. Just continue on how you are doing. You are doing fine. -DJSasso (talk) 05:03, 4 January 2018 (UTC)Reply
No worry's I understand. I have a local wiki so I know how it works. Maybe as I go I will help you out if and when I come a across something. --Clarkcj12 (talk) 05:05, 4 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

Template:Lang-de

I back-levelled this template because the updates you imported apparently resulted in errors where it's used. It was something about a missing function. Just letting you know in case you want to re-import and take a look at it. --Auntof6 (talk) 05:25, 4 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

Wierd I didn't see that when I did it, must have been looking at a cached page, either way I fixed the issue now it appears. -DJSasso (talk) 12:21, 4 January 2018 (UTC)Reply
Thanks. It looks like there's a similar problem with Template:Lang-ja. See Care Bears#Care Bears in other languages for an example. --Auntof6 (talk) 18:36, 4 January 2018 (UTC)Reply
I am thinking its possible that when I imported someone was in the process of changing a bunch of templates, and some weren't fully updated yet when I imported because there was a new edit on en.wiki that solved the problem in both cases. -DJSasso (talk) 01:39, 5 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

Mass EN imports

When mass importing from EN Wiki like you have been doing, shouldn’t you flood flag yourself during the operation? Your recent import batch of 70+ pages is completely flooding RC. —Glendales 17:17, 4 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

That isn't an issue. -DJSasso (talk) 17:40, 4 January 2018 (UTC)Reply
But I thought that’s what the flood flag was for - to prevent mass actions from cluttering RC. —Glendales 18:44, 4 January 2018 (UTC)Reply
That is what it is for, but for only 70 changes its not really a big deal. I hadn't actually realized it would be that many either considering the template I was bringing over. Either way 70 isn't really hard to deal with, now if I was doing hundreds or thousands yeah I would have made sure I had the flag. -DJSasso (talk) 21:30, 4 January 2018 (UTC)Reply
(talk page stalker) Seventy changes isn't considered flooding. Besides that, there's a way to group imports (and other things that are in logs) so that they appear combined in one line. It might also be that the flood flag doesn't apply to imports; I'm not sure. --Auntof6 (talk) 19:11, 4 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

Based on

@Djsasso: Just to let you know the import you brought over Template:Based on I undid it as it broke all of the attribution templates. Since en.wiki has a different use for it. --Clarkcj12 (talk) 16:09, 6 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

Yeah I was actually aware, I am in the middle of replacing that template, there was a lull because we lost power here. That was a local template that was created when there is another more functional template available so I am replacing this one with that one so that other templates that use the en.wiki version of based on will function properly. -DJSasso (talk) 17:53, 6 January 2018 (UTC)Reply
No worry's, I realized that as soon as you started to do AWB replace, so I restored it back to the imported version for you. I have also been trying to keep up and add the documentation pages for the templates you have imported but for some reason didn't import with it. It hasn't happened on all of them but just trying to help you out there.

Hey just a heads up, I am not sure if you are familiar with Lua, but for some reason the {{Cite web}} template is acting up no matter what page it is on, it displays a Module error with argument on Module:Citation/CS1 on line 3389. I don't see a problem as such everything the module uses matches what is on En.wiki. But the module error problem is showing up on a ton of pages that use the {{Cite web}} template. --Clarkcj12 (talk) 23:59, 6 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

Looks like I didn't notice the en.wiki has since moved to just displaying the symbol in the infobox while the image we use is farther down in the page. -DJSasso (talk) 13:18, 16 February 2018 (UTC)Reply
Incase my edit summary gets missed, I decided to emulate what en.wiki has done since they had a very big arbitration case on it. As such I left the symbol in the infobox but placed an image farther down the page so as not to be so in your face about it. If you don't think that is a good decision go ahead and revert me, but I think it might be a good thing to try since many have discussed it over there and it can't hurt to see if this slows down the removals. -DJSasso (talk) 13:51, 16 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

And the change you made to Old Borges Ranch removed a category that should have been kept. Are you replacing infoboxes with the enwiki versions or something? --Auntof6 (talk) 20:24, 28 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

Yes, I am fixing broken infoboxes, the first one I forgot to fix the ref as I usually do, the second one there wasn't any categories removed, I just checked both versions, what was added was a parameter that didn't do anything since all the categories are still on the page except a broken one that was incorrectly placing the article in a maintenance category. -DJSasso (talk) 23:29, 28 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

Template:End

Could you check this template, following your import? All it should really need is the characters "|}" , but it is now invoking a template we don't have, and it has characters in it for a Tfd at enwiki. Thanks. --Auntof6 (talk) 18:25, 3 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Must have missed checking that one when it came over with the others. -DJSasso (talk) 09:56, 4 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

I modified a couple of templates you imported

They were Template:Deprecated template and Template:Use dmy dates. In both cases, I changed the categories they assign so that they aren't dated, because we currently have only the undated categories defined. If you think we should have dated categories, we can change these back and set up the dated cats. I don't see much value in dated cats for these, though. --Auntof6 (talk) 02:53, 15 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Yeah that is fine, they only updated because I pulled all templates in for something. I was debating going back and removing the dates but didn't really care if they had dates or not so didn't bother removing it. So I am totally fine with them being gone. -DJSasso (talk) 10:37, 15 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hello. Why?

Hello, might I ask why you moved Gabriel de Rochechouart, Duke of Mortemart to Gabriel de Rochechouart de Mortemart because the latter is actually incorrect. Why are you making things up?

  • The family surname was [de] Rochechouart.
  • Mortemart was the family dukedom, hence a title and not a name.

Are you able to move it back at all? This is supposed to be an Encyclopaedia after-all so we should endeavour to present the reader with correct information. Might I be so presumptuous to say that maybe you should've done some research regarding him because then you'd know that G d R, Duke of Mortemart is in fact the correct form.

Like I said I created the article with the former [correct] title to avopid this problem. 79.76.132.169 (talk) 15:56, 28 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

They were mostly simple already. Remember it is perfectly acceptable to be identical to the other wiki if the text is simple (as long as attributed which I added). Importing pages such as June 9

I noticed that you imported June 9 from enwiki. I periodically look at these day pages to simplify the language and improve the links. A while back somebody inserted some headings to break up the long sections. Imports wipe all of that out. If you're going to be importing these, no problem, but please let me know and I won't spend any more time on them. Thanks. --Auntof6 (talk) 22:12, 21 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

Fon and Gun

Hi,

Gun language is not part of Fon language. There is one poorly referenced statement in the English Wikipedia that says that it is part of Fon, and I planned to correct it there, too.

Ethnologue and Glottologue say that it's distinct. And yesterday I talked to an actual speaker of Fon, who told me that Gun is related, but distinct.

Do you have a strong reason to think that it's the same language, other than the fact that they are one article in the English Wikipedia? I planned to write a whole article in English, too. --Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 17:33, 4 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

From what I understand is that it is just a dialect of the same language. But I can revert, I don't have a strong opinion on it. -DJSasso (talk) 17:34, 4 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

While you're around

I've noticed you importing a lot of templates lately... I can work on templates if needed, but my question is does importing templates require a PERM? Operator873talkconnect 03:43, 14 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

Yes you have to be an admin. If you need something imported just let me know. It is possible to get it while not being an admin but as you can imagine importing can cause a whole lot of trouble so we pretty much don't give it out. I am in the process of trying to clean up our templates, they are a bit of a mess because people used to just copy paste over and often would forget templates that were needed by the template they were copy pasting over. Infoboxes/Templates have sort of become my thing. -DJSasso (talk) 03:45, 14 August 2018 (UTC)Reply
I've noticed that. Often in fact. I don't really need a specific template imported, and I don't mean to step on any toes. But if you need any help, I'm willing and able. Otherwise, I'll be buried in Category:Deprecated parameters. Operator873talkconnect 04:07, 14 August 2018 (UTC)Reply
Since you are working in that category. Just a little suggestion, while its quicker to just switch over/remove the parameters. I find it a good time to just bring over a fresh copy of the entire infobox at the time. In most cases the en copy is better than ours and more up to date. I know it takes a lot longer to do it that way then just running AWB through removing/changing them, in doing so it also removes the motivation for you or anyone else to just update the whole box. -DJSasso (talk) 04:11, 14 August 2018 (UTC)Reply
That's a really good idea. I didn't think of that at all. Hmmmmm... In that case, Template:Infobox video game will be my next target. Would you mind bringing a fresh copy over? Operator873talkconnect 04:17, 14 August 2018 (UTC)Reply
Alright I brought the most recent over. -DJSasso (talk) 04:20, 14 August 2018 (UTC)Reply
You're a boss, boss. Thank you. Operator873talkconnect 04:21, 14 August 2018 (UTC)Reply
Just dawned on me that I may have also been unclear. I meant a fresh copy of what is in the article. Not the template itself. (Though that is a good idea too sometimes if it is way out of date). -DJSasso (talk) 04:23, 14 August 2018 (UTC)Reply
(talk page stalker) The problem with copying the whole thing is our infoboxes don't support the whole thing like when I tried to copy Arthurlie F.C., there was a template missing. Can you import that one too?-BRP ever 04:24, 14 August 2018 (UTC)Reply
Weeeellllllll.... when you imported the new video game template, it fixed ALL the articles in that category with deprecated params. That's definitely the easy mode way. HAHA! Operator873talkconnect 04:27, 14 August 2018 (UTC)Reply
Yeah that happens sometimes too lol. -DJSasso (talk) 04:28, 14 August 2018 (UTC)Reply
Yeah that is when you will need to update our templates, or just do it in little bits. Won't always work, I was mostly just pointing out if you are editing the params anyway (which often have no visual effect) you might as well update the whole thing at the same time. I will take a look at what is needed for that FC one. -DJSasso (talk) 04:28, 14 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

There are lots of Livingstones that exist. Since it was a new article I moved it now so that links that might be brought over from English Wikipedia won't be pointing to the wrong article rather than move it later when it will be necessary. -DJSasso (talk) 16:20, 15 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

Marie Émilie de Joly de Choin is incorrect.

Hello, just to let you know that your move was incorrect. You should've just left it alone. "Choin" was her father's barony. Thus a title not a name. Why complicate/trivialise things? Please move it back to it's original and correct title. 89.240.168.199 (talk) 20:37, 3 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

:Hello?! You clearly have no idea about what you are editing so might I be so bold as to suggest you leave them alone. For example I created Marie Émilie de Joly with that title because it is in fact correct. Choin was her father's title, thus not any part of her name. And please don't have a hissy fit and block me from making valid edits/creations on here as a punishment for making valid edits on here. I am in fact another human being, with feelings, shocking I know but it's true. Less is more at times.

Similarly where was the name to move Louise Marie Adélaïde de Bourbon? To add her title by marriage It was fine as it was. Like I said, less is more. 79.75.1.184 (talk) 18:45, 12 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

Template:Nobelprize

I undid your update of this template because it was no longer working correctly. Specifically, it was putting the icon where the template was coded instead of at the top of the page, and it was no longer adding the appropriate Nobel Prize category. --Auntof6 (talk) 11:18, 18 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

Ugh, yet AGAIN you've ruined things.

You moved Jeanne Baptiste d'Albert to Jeanne Baptiste d'Albert de Luynes? IF you had ANY idea what you were doing, you'd know that Luynes was actually a title (a dukedom) and the family name was "d'Albret (having come to France with the entourage of Catherine de' Medici and their surname was Gallicised as such. It was created that way to avoid this problem in the first place but people like you are the ones that ruin it for everyone else. Do some research. For the love of god, move it back to it's correct name. 79.75.1.184 (talk) 19:06, 25 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

Perhaps you should do some research and realize how things are named on English and Simple English Wiki. -DJSasso (talk) 15:07, 27 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

Infobox German Location

Hi there Djsasso, I was just wondering what you were doing to all the pages using Template:Infobox German location, since I too have been going through them (To replace old lat and long parameters with coord - are you doing this or something else)? I have also noticed that you have removed the population parameter from some pages: is this now being done automatically? Sorry for asking so many questions, but I would rather know about any changes so that I can make sure to not muck up any new pages I create using that infobox, Milo, Talk, Contribs 16:49, 27 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

Those parameters have been automatically done for a long time. I am just updating the infoboxes to the newest information for those that don't happen automatically. -DJSasso (talk) 16:51, 27 August 2018 (UTC)Reply
Ah ok: I never realised! Sorry to ask more questions but a)Is it only population which updates automatically?, and b)I don't suppose there is a quicker way to replace depreceated lat and long parameters with coord than simply typing it out or copying it from enwiki? Thanks so much, Milo, Talk, Contribs 16:54, 27 August 2018 (UTC)Reply
I think so, I would have to through the code. Best way to update is to copy it over. The coords are so varied page by page that it is hard to do it any other way without a lot of manual intervention anyway. -DJSasso (talk) 16:56, 27 August 2018 (UTC)Reply
No worries about going through the code: I'm going to go and update the pages that I have made using that template at any rate. And with the coords I've literally been going through the what links here list to find them, so I'll stick with that I guess! Thanks so much for your help, Milo, Talk, Contribs 16:58, 27 August 2018 (UTC)Reply
I hate to be so hopeless but would you mind having a look at Altusried? I tried removing the population but it doesn't seem to be working automatically, so I undid it? Milo, Talk, Contribs 17:05, 27 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

Just to check: are you planning on using the same categorizing system as on enwiki for German locations? Otherwise I see no reason to remove the categories already on pages I have created? Thanks, Milo, Talk, Contribs 17:43, 27 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

Yes as they were categorized down to too detailed a level, so I am fixing them back to where they used to be which matches en.wiki. -DJSasso (talk) 17:44, 27 August 2018 (UTC)Reply
Oh ok: sorry for making it too detailed! I'll use the enwiki system from now on. Sorry for pestering you so much, Milo, Talk, Contribs 17:46, 27 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

Cross project linking:

I was browsing through Special:WantedPages and saw that international was fairly high, and I was trying to work out a way to link to the wiktionary page, since that entry clearly works. However it occurs to me that I have never seen an example of that or read anything about it, and since you have just deleted the redirect (which to be fair I was in the process of QD:G7ing), I was wondering what the policy is on linking to wiktionary? Milo, Talk, Contribs 16:57, 28 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

You can link in the wiktionary page itself, but we don't make redirects because that would discourage the creation of a local article. -DJSasso (talk) 16:59, 28 August 2018 (UTC)Reply
Ah I see: and I've noticed that you've imported it from en.wiki anyhow. Sorry for bothering you so much! Milo, Talk, Contribs 17:00, 28 August 2018 (UTC)Reply
No worries, I only imported it because I see its been vandalized many many times. So I figured I might as well create a local copy to stop it from happening again and again. -DJSasso (talk) 17:01, 28 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

I probably wouldn't have since its clearly being used to circumvent blocks on en.wiki but there is no policy against it, I just wasn't around on the long weekend to do it. -DJSasso (talk) 11:34, 13 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

{{Dts}}

Can you take a look? It's seemingly the cause of a LOT of stripped SPAN's suggesting it's generating one more span than it should be somewhere? ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 14:27, 22 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

I will look, I already switched it over to using a module, so unless you are using a realtime list it may already be fixed. -DJSasso (talk) 14:53, 22 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

how was your Thanksgiving 2018

Repairs...

Generally I try to change as little as possible, when making a repair, if you are able to build on that , good. BTW you might want to to look over some of my recent efforts.. There are some problem templates I can't find stable fixes for.ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 21:10, 26 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

Yup that is understandable. Don't mind me if I come behind you. Its just usually me making sure all the templates that touch a template are updated. I have been on a year or so long project to try and get our templates fixed up. People used to just bring over the main one and not any of the ones that were called by it so things didn't always work right. So sometimes when I see someone edit a template I might end up importing anything that it touches. Some of our templates are a decade out of date. -DJSasso (talk) 17:09, 27 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

Language tabs

I found your language tab while reading over a page on meta. I've added it to both my interface here and on enWP. This is a VERY fine piece of work! I immediately fell in love with it. Intentionally or not, you may have found a way to make both projects very accessible. Even as an interface update on both projects. I'd love to see you offer it up as a gadget, either way... Operator873talkconnect 22:28, 21 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

@Operator873: Yeah I have been using this for a very long time. I think I even had something similar to this for a few years before this version. The one thing to be aware of is that it works on article title so sometimes it will show you the wrong article if they are named differently on en.wiki but that isn't the case too often and if it is, I just hit back and click on the interwiki. -DJSasso (talk) 12:32, 22 November 2018 (UTC)Reply
Hey there! I tinkered with the script until I was perplexed and befuddled. As a last ditch effort, I asked for help on IRC. Krenair answered my call for help and, in short order, got the script working. I only changed the positioning of the tab (to the left side vs right side) and renamed it to "EnWiki" or "Simple English," with respect to the project. I wanted to let you know so that you could find both files in my userspace here and on enwiki and copy them back to your userspace. Operator873talkconnect 22:19, 26 November 2018 (UTC)Reply
@Operator873: Haha figured you might be the reason I was getting pinged about my tabs suddenly on en.wiki. Or else its one crazy coincidence you all both found it at the same time. -DJSasso (talk) 17:14, 27 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

Replacing center on tables..

https://simple.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Sh%C5%8Dwa_period&type=revision&diff=6325980&oldid=6325977

How do I make a request for a CSS class to be added to Simple English wikipedi so I can just do class="center-float" to replace the center tag?

I'd also like to request that the styles I used in

  • {{Del_block}} to replace STRIKE and S which only work on SPAN based elements.
  • {{Monospaced block}} to replace TT, and related in certain instances...

be considered for generalisation into classes that could be used across the wiki. ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 11:22, 28 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

Because we have so few people who like to play with code on this wiki we just refresh our CSS to match whatever en.wiki has most of the time. Sometimes we get a bit behind but in general we have whatever en.wiki has and then only things that are super specific to our wiki. I can try to see how we can do it. I will have to get back to you. -DJSasso (talk) 11:42, 28 November 2018 (UTC)Reply
To be fair the code on those , should also be subject to an RFC back at English Wikipedia..ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 12:02, 28 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

CSS note...

You can replace bgcolor=#xxxxxx with a "background: #xxxxxx" style BTW. which was what I've done sometimes when repairing other concerns. ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 14:42, 28 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

Documentation is "junk" for {{Infobox generic}}

As per heading ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 19:19, 28 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

Looks like that was a long extinct template, have replaced the only two uses and removed. -DJSasso (talk) 13:43, 29 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

FYI

Please be careful when importing templates. Your update to {{Greek alphabet sidebar}} broke the images on all of the pages. I just finished fixing those. Nunabas (talk) 16:17, 29 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

Was aware, was leaving them that way on purpose as part of some other changes to do all at once. But thanks for fixing them. -DJSasso (talk) 17:04, 29 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

JRS

Basically any sock that includes "Smith" in it or writes about a "Smith" is JaySmith2018. They pretend to be new users, and their userpage commonly includes some variation of,"I also occasionally revert vandalism and spam". See User:Vermont/Reports/JRS for a list of socks. Thanks, Vermont (talk) 20:40, 29 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

Yeah no I realize that, I think I just didn't notice the smith yesterday. Was too early in the morning I think. -DJSasso (talk) 11:44, 30 November 2018 (UTC)Reply
Ah, okay. Yeah sometimes they can be hard to notice. I remember around 1-2 weeks ago they came under the persona of a dog, and I didn't identify it as them for a few days. Vermont (talk) 12:32, 30 November 2018 (UTC)Reply
