Simplification

Great job simplifying that article. Kansan (talk) 08:22, 15 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

So it was the right word... thanks! I think I'm starting to like this Wikipedia :) SS(Kay) 07:54, 5 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Please do not forget to attribute articles brought over from the English Wikipedia, I have done so for you on the article talk page, thanks, NonvocalScream (talk) 09:05, 7 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Huh? Back? Did I leave? SS(Kay) 04:38, 8 March 2010 (UTC)Reply
Sorry, I thought you said something about being back or something the other day. Kansan (talk) 04:45, 8 March 2010 (UTC)Reply
Well, I've only been here since...the end of February. But I think you saw my edit summaries for Simple talk like this one. Would that be it? If not, I'm really confused now... :) SS(Kay) 04:48, 8 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Yep, that was it. Sorry for the confusion! Kansan (talk) 04:55, 8 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Page creating

Hi Singlish speaker, here is the code you need if you have manually copied a page from the English Wikipedia: {{Enwp based | url= (add full address here) }} Just add it to the talk page. For the full address I use the one generated by the "permanent link" in the tool box as it makes it link to the version I have copied. The other way is to get the page imported by an administrator, and that will copy the pages editing history as well. Just ask if you would like that done. The main task is to make sure that the page is simplified, else it will be deleted. If you use firefox and want some hints on simplifying, just ask. Peterdownunder (talk) 06:42, 8 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Thanks so much! That makes sense now. I think it would be too much trouble for me to get it imported, so I'm okay with just copypaste. (And yes please; I use Firefox. Is there some kind of app for simplification? ) SS(Kay) 06:57, 8 March 2010 (UTC)Reply
I am glad that makes sense - you can always ask me if it does not. Many of us have been here for so long we forget to explain things properly to new editors. Now for Firefox - there are two addons that I use all the time. The first on is called the Simple English Dictionary. You can get it from the Firefox add on site. It installs simple English as a language. Any word that is not simple English is underlined as if it is a spelling mistake. It needs you to use the right mouse button, click on languages, and click simple English to get it to work. You can change back to standard English the same way. The other add on I use is called Dictionary Search. I can right click a word, and it opens up a dictionary page with the definitions, and a good thesaurus. Using the two, it sppeds up the simplifying process so much. Worth a try. --Peterdownunder (talk) 08:44, 8 March 2010 (UTC)Reply
Cool, thanks! I'll download it on Wednesday; good night :) SS(Kay) 08:51, 8 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

I was looking...

...at the article thinking the exact same thing. It is always harder to convert the largely complex ones. Best, NonvocalScream (talk) 07:41, 10 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Oh, good, so it's not just me. :) That second paragraph...ouch. Was that the reason behind your cryptic remark on Simple Talk? I wasn't sure what that was about. SS(Kay) 07:47, 10 March 2010 (UTC)Reply
That is me asking for help, and at the same time, being embarrassed that I don't have the time to write a proper article on it at this moment. But... I did not know we already had an article, so you fixed it! :) Best, NonvocalScream (talk) 07:51, 10 March 2010 (UTC)Reply
Oh, okay :) SS(Kay) 08:06, 10 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Userpage

If you're interested, I can delete and selectively restore your userpage to remove the info that was removed previously so that it would be visible to only admins. Lauryn (utc) 08:41, 10 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Hmm. I don't know... I've been dumber on enwp by far, and I really don't want to trouble anyone. Now I'm kinda embarrassed about it... SS(Kay) 08:46, 10 March 2010 (UTC)Reply
It's no trouble and all.. simply the click of a few buttons and will take me less than five minutes. Lauryn (utc) 08:47, 10 March 2010 (UTC)Reply
Okay then. Thank you so much. SS(Kay) 08:49, 10 March 2010 (UTC)Reply
Quite welcome. Let me know if you need anything else, and see, took me less than a minute. :) Lauryn (utc) 08:50, 10 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Hello, Welcome to WikiProject Baking! We know your skillful work will add sugar to the cake! God bless!

Have a good time around here, and God bless you!! Belinda 10:53, 10 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Hi, Kay!

Thanks so much for your work on cooking articles! Everybody else in my wikiproject is so lazy :p. So, for your hard work for cooking, like creating Lime pie...

Belinda has given you some cookies! Now enjoy them!

Thanks once again, and I hope you have a fun time working on baking articles! Yours sincerely and joyfully, Belinda 09:08, 13 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Thanks! *eats cookies*... Funny that, I logged on because I'm waiting for a batch of scones to cook- speaking of which, the article on scones needs a little tweaking. :) God bless, SS(Kay) 01:40, 14 March 2010 (UTC)Reply
How wonderful it is that you are working on scones! Feel free to add more articles, such as scones, to the "To Do" list in my wikiproject. Also, the article Butter cake is extremely delicious. Thanks for making it! I'll improve a little bit. P.S. Once you've made a new article, if it is a stub, add it in the list inside the second box, and if it is long, add it in the third box please. God bless you too, Belinda 05:05, 14 March 2010 (UTC)Reply
Okay, thanks. :) I'll keep that in mind. (P.S. If you ever go past a bakery or do some baking, the butter cake article needs a picture... I'll try to take one, but not for a few weeks- I have exams coming up.) SS(Kay) 07:09, 14 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Hi; this was a copyright violation (see this) for more information. Additionally, we don't upload images locally, we upload them to Commons instead. Let me know if you have questions. Lauryn (utc) 06:14, 20 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Oh, oops, I didn't realise, sorry! I guess I just assumed it would be non-copyright. I can't access Commons. I don't know why. It's a pain. :( Sorry again. SS(Kay) 06:16, 20 March 2010 (UTC)Reply
Screenshots of open source/free software are fine, it was the fact that you left your Windows start bar (parts of your OS interface) in the shot that was the copyright problem. These things (the Windows logo, etc) are copyrighted by Microsoft. Thanks for understanding. Lauryn (utc) 06:19, 20 March 2010 (UTC)Reply
You can use an external image upload site, then link to it. Nifky^ 06:17, 20 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Articles to be imported

Would you want them in your userspace or put in the mainspace? :) Nifky^ 00:42, 21 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Um, I don't know... probably userspace first, I guess. Thanks :) SS(Kay) 00:46, 21 March 2010 (UTC)Reply
Okay, thanks. Nifky^ 00:47, 21 March 2010 (UTC)Reply
I've imported all the articles you stated here except for minor second, augmented unison, augmented fourth and diminished fifth to your userspace as they were redirects. Do you also want me to import the templates circle of fifths and intervals here as well in the template space? Nifky^ 02:18, 21 March 2010 (UTC)Reply
Just the circle of fifths one, please. Sorry late reply, I'm babysitting. SS(Kay) 02:41, 21 March 2010 (UTC)Reply
  Done; Template:Circle of fifths. Nifky^ 02:43, 21 March 2010 (UTC)Reply
Thank you so much :) I'll simplify and move those over the next couple of weeks. SS(Kay) 03:00, 21 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Hi

Hi, Kay...:) Your userpage looks really cool, and so is your poem! (I like writing stories too.:p) Anyway, thanks for writing. God bless you too. I'm so happy there's such a kind Christian "teenager, not a stereotype" on Wikipedia. Yours, Classical Esther 05:44, 21 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Plants aren't persons... :P

Hi. Please care about doing edits like [2] and [3] --Диего Грез (Diego Grez) (разговор) 01:44, 22 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Also, flood isn't working on your account for some reason. Please don't do any more at this fast of an edit rate until a crat can bot you. Lauryn (utc) 01:45, 22 March 2010 (UTC)Reply
Wait... I thought bio-stub was for biology? Oh dear. Revert me, please.... sorry guys, that was some screw up. SS(Kay) 01:46, 22 March 2010 (UTC)Reply
Biostub is for biographies. Lauryn (utc) 01:46, 22 March 2010 (UTC)Reply
Seconded. --Диего Грез (Diego Grez) (разговор) 01:48, 22 March 2010 (UTC)Reply
Please understand that having a small recent changes makes it incredibly easy to flood, as you are still doing. If you are going to make several non-controversial maintenance type edits, or mass-revert your own edits please ask for the flood flag before you begin. Lauryn (utc) 01:49, 22 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

┌─────────────────────────────────┘
Really sorry. That was really really stupid. SS(Kay) 01:50, 22 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

I would ask for flood now, but I'm not sure if I'll do something similarly stupid. SS(Kay) 01:51, 22 March 2010 (UTC)Reply
You have flood right now because you were mass reverting yourself. What do you plan to do so that I can determine whether or not to leave it on? Lauryn (utc) 01:53, 22 March 2010 (UTC)Reply
Okay, well, I'll log out of AWB and re-login so that the flag registers, then I'll redo what I just did, with the right template. Is that all right? SS(Kay) 01:54, 22 March 2010 (UTC)Reply
That's fine, but I'm pretty sure that flood and AWB are still having issues, so you'll need a bureaucrat to give you the bot flag. To see if that is the case, make one edit using AWB to this page so that I can see if it shows up on RecentChanges. Lauryn (utc) 01:56, 22 March 2010 (UTC)Reply
Does this work? SS(Kay) 02:00, 22 March 2010 (UTC)Reply
No; you're still showing up on RC. If you're using RC at this moment, you'll need to get the attention of a bureaucrat and ask them to bot you which might be difficult considering what just happened. Lauryn (utc) 02:01, 22 March 2010 (UTC)Reply
Nicht. (edit conflict) --Диего Грез (Diego Grez) (разговор) 02:02, 22 March 2010 (UTC)Reply
Okay. Well, I'll do it tomorrow then- AWB doesn't work on my home computer, only the school ones. SS(Kay) 02:05, 22 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Well, I could to the job if you want but, do we have a biology stub 'plate? --Диего Грез (Diego Grez) (разговор) 02:09, 22 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Yes, {{biology-stub}}. SS(Kay) 02:12, 22 March 2010 (UTC)Reply
Anyway,   Done, as well as music stubs. Now if only someone will remove the bot flag...SS(Kay) 08:08, 22 March 2010 (UTC)Reply
Maybe off topic, but flood flag doesn't hide rollbacks/AWB edits (likely that edits using Huggle aren't hidden either). Pmlineditor  07:52, 22 March 2010 (UTC)Reply
Hmm, really? I wonder why. SS(Kay) 07:53, 22 March 2010 (UTC)Reply
Hey, bot flag doesn't hide rollbacks either. SS(Kay) 08:21, 22 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

-bot

Bot flag removed. Have a nice day. The Rambling Man (talk) 08:19, 22 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Hey...

Hi, Kay. Thanks for telling me to get a user name. ;) I'm actually Classical Esther and I couldn't resist one or two edits with my IP address because the wikibreak enforcer you recommended to me didn't let me log in. :P Thanks for welcoming me, though, and reminding me I'm supposed to be on a wikibreak. 61.72.131.121 (talk) 05:20, 25 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Ah, I knew that! I was about to tell Kay... IP adress, you should make a monobook for yourself on there, too. :p Belinda 05:22, 25 March 2010 (UTC)Reply
You can't make a monobook for an IP... think how many vandals we could lock out that way :)
And Esther:
Heh, sorry :) I did that on enWP too... :P, and got welcomed by someone I knew and told off because I was participating in Articles for Creation, which only members can be reviewers of. Naughty... stick to what you say, hey? Not that I did, but... I know how hard it is :P. It's a very useful tool, but I think you know how annoying it is now :) SS(Kay) 05:23, 25 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Just a note

Non-admins should not be closing deletion discussions. Unlike en we are not overwhelmed by a backlog so usually don't need non-admins closing discussions. The only time that would be ok for a non-admin to close them would be if it were a snowball situation and even then I probably wouldn't. -DJSasso (talk) 12:41, 25 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Oh, okay. Sorry. Thanks for telling me. SS(Kay) 20:27, 25 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Something sweet

I just wanted to drop by and tell you that your sunny brightness, cheerful temper and helpful activity is really appreciated! It's people like you that make Wikipedia so worthwhile. And I like the way you write thoughtfully to vandals instead of using templates. I'm sure if I were a vandal :), I'd be quite touched. Well, have a nice day, Kay! --Classicalina|talktea 03:18, 8 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

He-ey, how unfair! :p I was about to give her that one! Oh well, too bad. As long as she got it anyway... Yeah, me too. The way she's so nice to the vandals, I half-want-to-be one too! (this is a joke, just in case Pmlineditor is spying on me). ;) Well, anyway, God bless you, dear Kay! Belinda 03:23, 8 April 2010 (UTC)Reply
Wow, thanks to both of you! :) I'd say I'm nowhere near as cheerful or productive as either of you, though, so keep up your good work! (And Bella, if my niceness is inspiring your dark side, maybe I'd better stop... :P) Blessings, SS(Kay) as she walks off laughing uncontrollably, the LOLipop already taking effect :) 03:32, 8 April 2010 (UTC)Reply
Sorry for over-reacting, Kay. I'm just a silly old person *whacks head* and Griffinofwales was just warning me not to get too over-friendly! I admit I'm getting really annoying these days. I just can't help it!...But I'll try to keep encyclopedia-ish... Well, anyway, bye, and have a good day! Belinda 03:41, 8 April 2010 (UTC)Reply
Sorry? Why? :) Looks like I wasn't clear that I was joking, oops. Friendliness is a good thing most of the time, and I'm a metapedian myself... :P Anyway, have a great day too! SS(Kay) 03:46, 8 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Sockpuppet

Thankyou for adding the template! Of course I couldn't dare to revert your kindness. It was very helpful. ^^* I'm afraid I have several other annoying sockpuppets, like whenever I edit in en wiki as "Blessing-light", and then I go to simple wiki, I'm Blessing-light. Sigh. But I'd rather not make those kind of pages because it's just a bother.... Well, anyway, thank you! Heabene (talk) 05:33, 8 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Well, that's pretty annoying for you, I guess. I'm in the process of a rename at enWP, so I need to remember to rename here as well or I'll have socks too... :P SS(Kay) 05:48, 8 April 2010 (UTC)Reply
You should call them "alternative accounts" instead of sockpuppets. Also the reason why you login on one wiki and go on another with the same username, is because of Unified login. --Bsadowski1(Talk/Changes) 05:53, 8 April 2010 (UTC)Reply
Yep, I'm aware of SUL- I probably wouldn't have bothered editing here if it wasn't for it. :P But yeah, I suppose calling them socks is asking for trouble... Question, though. Is it possible for peeps like Bella to disable SUL? SS(Kay) 05:57, 8 April 2010 (UTC)Reply
No. The only thing you can really do is use different browsers. I asked Pathoschild about this at one point because I edit three different Wikipedias with three usernames.  — laurynashby 06:22, 8 April 2010 (UTC)Reply
Wow. That's irritating. Oh well... SS(Kay) 06:28, 8 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Thanks!

Thank you very much for the barnstar. You made me feel as if my work on Violin was really appreciated and you just made my day. Thanks again! Megan|talkcontribs 15:35, 16 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Stub Cup notice

  Stub Cup
Hi and thanks for taking part in the Stub Cup! Here are a few things you need to know before we start:
  • The Cup starts on May 1st 00:00 UTC and ends on June 30th 23:59 UTC.
  • The stubs you expand must have been created before May 1st 00:00 UTC.

The scoring system works as follows:

  • If you get a stub to a Regular Article, you will get 1 point.
    • For an article of 1500 to 2199 bytes of text you get 1 point.
    • From 2200 bytes of text and for every additional 700 bytes of text you get 1 extra point.
    • If the portion you add is unreferenced, you only get half the points it is worth.
  • If you get a stub promoted to Good Article status, you will get 25 extra points.
  • If you get a stub promoted to Very Good Article status, you will get 50 extra points.
