PVGA Review
Hey Barras,
I'd appreciate it if you could possibly take a look at Blackpool tramway which is my latest article at PVGA. All comments, both good and bad, would be appreciated.

- While it's no big deal, you've just done the very thing that you said was "wrong" with the new system, i.e. not judging consensus. There was no consensus to promote that article, yet you still promote it? While I agree it's promotable, I remember you (and others) saying that you did not like the system because people can promote things just because they like it. That's technically what this is... Just a heads up. Goblin 17:34, 10 October 2009 (UTC) I ♥ Nifky!
- People thought my conversation with Eptalon on ST about OS election (only Eptalon and me commented) is consensus. THe question is: What is consensus? Not clear rules... you have to live with it. I don't care. No one participate, because they don't like this system, otherwise we could get consensus. Barras (talk) 17:37, 10 October 2009 (UTC)
- If you don't like the system, why are you closing VGAs? Why don't you comment on them and make consensus? Or why not make comments to make it better rather than just "i like the old one. let's go back to it" - I thought that you were a better Wikipedian than that. You'll actually we find we have more P(V)GAs than ever, so your argument doesn't really hold any weight with me... The rules are perfectly clear, if xyz users (And consensus is not a determinate amount of users, so yes, two people could be a consensus, but in this case there were no comments towards promoting) comment in favour of then we promote. Simples. <squeak> Goblin 17:59, 10 October 2009 (UTC) I ♥ Juliancolton!
- I closed it, because it was still time to close it. The system is failing because no one comments there. And sorry for having a real life and not always having time to read all suggestions and make comments. Barras (talk) 18:03, 10 October 2009 (UTC)
- Don't bring real life into this, i'm one of the users who advocates a real life and I have a very busy and hectic one myself. If you're not involved and object to it, then just poke someone else to close it, don't change your mind, it makes you look a fool. Or, instead of closing it why not make some suggestions... Anyway, i've said my bit and much more besides now. I'm off. Goblin 18:13, 10 October 2009 (UTC) I ♥ Nifky!
- First, I guess you know that I don't care what other say and when they disagree with me. Secondly, I don't change my mind. Thirdly, I were involded with my comments on the article's talk page and I closed it. I just didn't made another post that now all is fixed on the PVGA page. The look in the future: You will have a lot of fun with me and such closures and the best, I will not care about it and not respons to such threads. Barras (talk) 18:46, 10 October 2009 (UTC)

Your decline of QD
Actually, you are wrong. It was previously deleted due to A4, and the user recreated it, which makes it fall under the G4 rule. Razorflame 21:30, 15 October 2009 (UTC)

Hello, I want to ask you a Question. I am an employee from a organization what is called de Ried fan de Fryske Beweging (The Council of the Frisian movement) We are a organization who is trying to preserve the Frisian language and culture. Frisian is a minority language in the Netherlands. The question is would you translate this article about our organization in your language Ried fan de Fryske Beweging. Hallo Barras,

Talk page change feature
Hi Barras. Please could you change my Samlaptop85213 setings so that I will be able to change my talk page in the future. Prehaps you could protect it for a very long time and then once it's unprotected I will make an unblock request. I can be sensible on forums, so that means I will be able to be sensible here on Wikipedia. I promise this time! This is my big promise that once my talk page is not proteccted, I will make a unblock request and I will edit nicely. I want to make constructive edits on that Bop It article but I am blocked indef. I also promised the admin that I will never slip up. I have been unbaned from that forum for a month now, and I never done anything wrong. That's one reason why my settings should be changed.--92.14.247.114 (talk) 09:17, 31 October 2009 (UTC)

What is the problem with saying hi to someone? Majorly talk 19:06, 1 November 2009 (UTC)
- This wasn't a hi, this looked more like a nonsense edit to annoy/ping others. I don't see any sense behind this edit and told this the user. Furthermore, it is pretty useless. This user is inactive. Barras (talk) 19:10, 1 November 2009 (UTC)

- I don't even need to tell him that this aren't constructive edits per our current blocking policy: Administrators also have the right to block users who have been banned on other Wikipedias or other Wikimedia Foundation projects. This will be decided on a case-by-case basis. If there is no purpose to make such edits I can do it without any discussion. Barras (talk) 19:19, 1 November 2009 (UTC)
- That does not equate to "block regardless of merit". It would certainly require discussion, as I've not seen any problematic edits. Clearly there was a purpose, you just didn't see it. Majorly talk 20:03, 1 November 2009 (UTC)

So.
Falls du noch mal irgendwelche Hilfe brauchst, so dag einfach bescheid. how can he just go and close it without discussion? the word occupied is inherently pov..Zvn (talk) 19:23, 13 November 2009 (UTC)
- Because the cat is ok. I don't see a reason to delete it. --Barras (talk) 19:24, 13 November 2009 (UTC)
Wow it was closed without any kind of refute to my reason for nominating it. "Its acceptable" that's all? Do you mean to say the part of Kashmir on India's side was actually illegally captured by India? Why doesn't such a category exist on en.wikipedia.org? Because its non-neutral. At least let the discussion take place? --Zvn (talk) 19:30, 13 November 2009 (UTC)
- If you think it is the title that's the bad part, so just move it. At least to me and one other editer it looks ok, but I wouldn't mind a move. And only because enwiki doesn't have such a cat doesn't mean we can't have it. --Barras (talk) 19:33, 13 November 2009 (UTC)
Sure but how to move it? :) --Zvn (talk) 19:34, 13 November 2009 (UTC)
- e/c We are not saying that anything to do with Kashmir has been conducted illegally or not. That would then give us a POV ourselves and we do not wish to have one (or at least I don't) on this topic as I know nothing about it. "Occupied" does not state a POV and simply states facts, thus why we closed it. We are not the English Wikipedia and it therefore doesn't matter if it's the same here as it is there. There is nothing wrong with the category, and two of us have now said so. Please, leave this alone now. Thanks, Goblin 19:35, 13 November 2009 (UTC) I ♥ Juliancolton!
- (change conflict) I'm not sure if you are autoconfirmed. If you are, there should be a tab (like the edit button) on the top of the page which is named "move". Try this. If there isn't such a tab for you, just tell me the wished name and I do it for you. --Barras (talk) 19:36, 13 November 2009 (UTC)
Thank you Barras. Please change the title to "Category:India administered Kashmir". I don't see a tab to use myself.--Zvn (talk) 19:39, 13 November 2009 (UTC)
- I learned now a now thing. Now I know that I would have to create a new category and have to fix all page that use this category. Then I would have to delete the old one. My today's lesson: We can't move categories. --Barras (talk) 19:48, 13 November 2009 (UTC)
Never mind then, Barras. Thank you for trying :/
- Hey Zvn, as Barras mentioned above Categories cannot be moved due to restrictions on the MediaWiki software. This gives us a few options:
- Keep it as it is
- Create/delete and manually change all links
- Create/delete but run a "bot" on it in an hour or so.
- The third option would be the best imo, but it's your guys call. I can run the bot from about 9UTC if so required; i'm not on my PC atm.

You moved River Yaque del Norte
I have found that you moved River Yaque del Norte to Yaque del Norte River for not valid reason, at least for me. There are only four wikis with a similar article and it would be very easy to made the appropriate changes; I was planning to make them but you were faster than me.
Normally I like when people correct my articles because English is not my language but I do not like changes like this when it would be very easy to ask me first. But it is OK; I did realize that I have been working a lot in Wikipedia (in several languages), forgetting my very own website. Now I am going to work on my website and forget about Wikipedia for several months. Jmarcano (talk) 00:40, 3 December 2009 (UTC)
- There is a valid reason. I used it in the move summary. We normally use enwikis names of articles. If an article already exists on en, so we use the same name (always). And please remember: It's a wiki. I don't need to ask people before I change/move the page they created when I have a reason. If you leave for a move, so it's probably better for you do do so. The move was and still is valid and also with a valid reason. Regards --Barras (talk) 13:56, 3 December 2009 (UTC)

- Looks ok for me even thought some more [[links]] would look nice. Well done. --Barras (talk) 15:21, 14 December 2009 (UTC)
Oh, yes, thank you! I'm afraid I'm just a beginner... So I don't know many links to Northange Abbey, even though it's my most favorite book. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pretty Lydie (talk • contribs)
- No worries. We all have started once... --Barras (talk) 14:27, 15 December 2009 (UTC)

Just letting you know that the above IP is registered to the Government of Saskatchewan, so it might require a post on the Communications Committee page. Griffinofwales (talk) 16:58, 16 December 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks for the info, but I'm not going to report it, because 1) Id on't know where/how, 2) it's surely on enwiki (where I'm rarely active) and 3) I don't really care as this is the first time from this IP. Best --Barras talk 17:02, 16 December 2009 (UTC)
- Well for future reference, it is located here (on Meta). Just follow the example of earlier reports. Griffinofwales (talk) 17:04, 16 December 2009 (UTC)
- Ah, on meta... The page is already on my watch list. I made a notice on my desk an hope I will not forget it if I need this. Thanks --Barras talk 17:08, 16 December 2009 (UTC)

Merry Christmas Barras
Hi Barras
Merry Christmas. Hope that I get unblocked soon.--92.11.183.221 (talk) 07:10, 25 December 2009 (UTC)
- Umm... I'm not Barras, but I must ask: You are not blocked from what I can tell from your block log. Are you using an alternate account inappropriately? —Mythdon [talk] [changes] 07:12, 25 December 2009 (UTC)
- It's Samlaptop. See his other messages above. Heh. --Bsadowski1(Talk|Changes) 07:13, 25 December 2009 (UTC)
Anyway, thanks :) --Barras talk 10:16, 25 December 2009 (UTC)
Hey there Barras. The reason why I nominated it for quick deletion was because I am pretty sure that the MW software would automatically redirect to that if you typed it in all caps. We could always do a little experiment to see if I am right or not. Delete it and then type it into the search box and see if it automatically redirects. If it does, leave it deleted. If it does not, restore it. Fair enough for you? Razorflame 21:00, 29 December 2009 (UTC)
- I deleted it and tried it. It seems to work this way. The Media Wiki software seems to autofix this. Regards --Barras talk 21:05, 29 December 2009 (UTC)
- Great :). I was pretty sure that I was right about it, and I guess that I learnt that kind of redirect killing from editing on the Simple English Wiktionary ;). Razorflame 21:07, 29 December 2009 (UTC)
