Interwikis in user space

[1] I don't think (though I could be wrong) that interwikis in userspace get mapped out. Categories, yes, those should be commented out on userspace articles, but interwikis are fair. EVula // talk // // 16:32, 28 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

The interwiki bot will add this usersite as interwiki to other wiki main space articles. These interwikis could make troubles with the bots on other wikis. There they edit only the namespace, but add wrong links to simple. That would be a problem. Barras (talk) 17:13, 28 May 2009 (UTC)Reply
Hmm, I really thought that bots ignored userspace entirely. I figured that my userpage would have been mapped out by now otherwise... *shrug* EVula // talk // // 21:23, 28 May 2009 (UTC)Reply
Well, my thoughts were that the interwikibots see the interwikis on the userpage and add on other wikis the userpage interwiki to the mainspace. It's better to prevent wrong interwikis. I think this doesn't destroy the userpage. Fell free to revert if this is wrong. Regards, Barras (talk) 09:26, 29 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Oversight pre-requisites

Since we're doing this rather ad-hoc, I'm just making sure that all candidates have read (and can accept) the Foundation's requirements for Oversight candidates. Please double check m:Oversight#Access to make sure you're eligible. EVula // talk // // 18:18, 2 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

Per my recent entry on ST, I may well post a couple of questions to each candidate's RFO. I hope you don't mind. Good luck, and all the best. The Rambling Man (talk) 18:22, 2 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

QandA
  • The QandA. Every month, Kennedy interviewed one of the Simple English Wikipedia's editors, asking them about themselves, and their opinions on Wikipedia. It was an exciting insight behind the anonymous face of an online username. Unfortunately, Kennedy has left us, and will obviously not be doing the QandA. Bluegoblin7 has taken it over.

This weeks interview is with Juliancolton.

Wijerd Jelckama

Will you remove the tag? I mean: the article is a GA nominee, it has been DYK for over a week on the main page and it fits all the criteria of a good article over here. It makes no sense deleting the article. Pmlineditor, who added the tag, agreed with me on it to leave the article and was okay with me removing it eventually, and so I removed the tag. Mighty Wodan (talk) 13:34, 13 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

No, I tend more to deleting the page, because it looks like copy and paste from en. Ülease let another admin decide. Thanks Barras (talk) 13:36, 13 June 2009 (UTC)Reply
The fact that the article is being considered for GA shows some quality in it. I would recommend bringing this up on PGA before deletion. Chenzw  Talk  13:38, 13 June 2009 (UTC)Reply
Please do so. I voted and added the QG tag again. So it wouldn't be fine, if I delete the article and close this difficult PGA. Barras (talk) 13:39, 13 June 2009 (UTC)Reply
Can't you people just remove the template and let it be? The user who added the tag agreed that he should not have done so. If it weren't for the tag, nobody would have had any trouble with the article. It would be (and I hope will be) promoted to GA next thing in the morning. Mighty Wodan (talk) 13:42, 13 June 2009 (UTC)Reply
I disagree. The tag is from me now! I don't withdraw the tag. Barras (talk) 13:44, 13 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

But what good is it deleting an article that is simple, that has many links, that is referenced, that is notable, that used to be DYK and is a GA nominee? What good is deleting it? Is it helping wikipedia one bit? No, it isn't. Will you please remove the tag. Mighty Wodan (talk) 13:45, 13 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

We can get troubles with policies, because this could be a copyright violation. It is only a copy and paste! I hate such cases. Thanks Barras (talk) 13:47, 13 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

It is not just copy and paste. Many editors have worked on it to simplify the article since it has been written. Mighty Wodan (talk) 13:49, 13 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

Read the introduction. It is the same. Barras (talk) 13:53, 13 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

So instead of changing\rewriting things, you decide to just go ahead and remove it? Does that make any sense? I am no native speaker of English and I am not a great writer of articles. I have asked several user to help me. Perhaps you can help me to re-write the article? That would serve wikipedia better then just deleting the article as you seem to want. Mighty Wodan (talk) 13:56, 13 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

We don't have to copy from other wikipedias. I don't deal with the delation. The QDA3 tag is right. An other admin has to deal with it. The article never can become a GA, because of the violation of our rules. Barras (talk) 13:59, 13 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

Will you rewrite it for me? Or at least let me rewrite it? I would hate to see a good article get deleted. I came here in good faith, wrote some articles, improved others. I still have tons of articles in word I would love to make here. But if this is the policy, and you people will go ahead and delete the article, I'll leave right away. Look at the articles history, please, before you judge. Mighty Wodan (talk) 14:04, 13 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

You can rewrite if you want. You can do what you want. But don't copy from other wikipedias. Barras (talk) 17:37, 13 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

I was using Twinkle for the QDing of the transwikied articles which automatically led to the addition of the QD notices. Pmlinediter  Talk 13:00, 19 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

I know, but you could request the mass deletion of articles without TW, if the user who created the articles is indef blocked. You added the template several times. When the users are indef blocked is such a note useless. Barras (talk) 13:04, 19 June 2009 (UTC)Reply
Okay, I'll do that next time. Pmlinediter  Talk 13:05, 19 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

The last emperor

Hey Barras. I noticed you deleted The last emperor only a minute after it was created, under QD#A2. I think, given that the article had an infobox and may have been under construction, that it would be best to at least give the editor a few minutes to add more content. I feel that deleting a page only a minute after it was made is kinda WP:BITEy. Per A2: This includes any article consisting only of links (including hyperlinks, category tags and "see also" sections), a rephrasing of the title, and/or attempts to correspond with the person or group named by its title. Per not quick deletion criteria: Some very short articles can be quickly deleted, but if they have content that is useful, they cannot. The article had an infobox and maybe was going to be expanded more. Personally, I would wait a few minutes before deleting it, but it is your decision. Thanks, EhJJTALK 13:40, 23 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

Hi EhJJ! Thanks for reporting me an error, but I think it wasn't one. I don't want to say, that this article is really an article. The infobox was completely copy&pasted from en, also the tag. The picture doesn't exist here locally. No stub tag, no categories. The "article" included only the infobox from en without a mark to en, because it was copy&pasted. I could the article also delete as copy&past from another wiki. The result would be the same. Best Barras (talk) 13:53, 23 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

Re:Categories

I request that you don't delete the "Tehsil" categories, because the Category:Tehsils of Pakistan has articles that are going to sorted into their respective locations anyway. All in all, if I had been given more time, the new Tehsil categories would have had quite a lot of locations in them.Ali Rana (talk) 08:37, 4 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

Sorry, but you created in the last day about 200 empty cats. First create the articles and later the cats. We don't need about 200 cats with no article in them or only one or two. Anyway, I started the deltion. Barras (talk) 08:40, 4 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

First create the articles and later the cats

That's what I'm trying to say, regarding the Tehsil articles, they are already created. Please see this category: Category:Tehsils of Pakistan. You can clearly see it has almost most of Tehsils, and these Tehsils can be now sorted into their own categories. I created those categories and was going to work on them, by going through each Tehsil article one-by-one. Hope you understand. Regards Ali Rana (talk) 08:43, 4 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

- It will obviously take some time. Ali Rana (talk) 08:45, 4 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

When you create the articles, you can still add categories to them (even if the category doesn't exist). Please stop creating more maintenance work for us to do. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated. Chenzw  Talk  08:48, 4 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

you can still add categories to them (even if the category doesn't exist).

I actually happened to do that for one page, but an editor soon reverted it, on the basis that category did not exist. If that is still true however, does that mean I can still go back and add those "to-be-created-later" categories? Ali Rana (talk) 08:54, 4 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

Yes, you can. Chenzw  Talk  08:55, 4 July 2009 (UTC)Reply
