Film vs. Movie

How do you decipher between what is a film vs. what is a movie when determining which Infobox to use? PotsdamLamb (talk) 04:33, 1 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

(talk page stalker) @PotsdamLamb: If you mean {{Infobox Film}} and {{Infobox movie}}, the former redirects to the latter, so there's no difference. The redirect exists so that things brought over from enwiki will still work without having to change the template. --Auntof6 (talk) 04:49, 1 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Auntof6 Thank you for that information. That helps a lot. PotsdamLamb (talk) 04:51, 1 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

Invitation for Functionary consultation 2021

Greetings,

I'm letting you know in advance about a meeting I'd like to invite you to regarding the Universal Code of Conduct and the community's ownership of its future enforcement. I'm still in the process of putting together the details, but I wanted to share the date with you: 27 June, 2021. I do not have a time on this date yet, but I will let you soon. We have created a meta page with basic information. Please take a look at the meta page and sign up your name under the appropriate section.

Thank you for your time.--BAnand (WMF) 15:06, 2 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

QD Templates

So I had admins do this on en wiki a while ago, but on the QD templates we need to add a <br> to the bottom of the template. What is happening is it throughs off the format of anything posted below it and it looks like it is all one statement when it is in fact two different statement. Would you be ok if I did this on our templates? PDLTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? 17:24, 2 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

I am surprised they changed that on en.wiki. The preferred formatting would be to have it close together to group the comments and to remove unnecessary white space. The icons at the beginning of the message are what denote a separate comment. If the comment isn't related to the one above it, then you should be using a header. -Djsasso (talk) 17:26, 2 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Djsasso Would you prefer me to do it that way? Or did you want to do it? PDLTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? 17:28, 2 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
Do what? Change it? No I don't believe it should be changed. -Djsasso (talk) 17:29, 2 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
So, just for clarification, you are saying you prefer the talk pages we post them on to remain jumbled and looking like a mess due to them being stacked with other warnings? For example, this talk page I added the break to it so it is not a mess. If you take all of those breaks out, it is a mess with other smaller iconned warnings shoved up into the QD templates. PDLTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? 17:33, 2 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
I am saying the issue on that talk page isn't the lack of the break. It is the lack of of someone using a header. That being said, yes it generally looks better in most cases without the break. In this case the problem is people not inserting the header when they posted the warning. -Djsasso (talk) 17:35, 2 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
Well we do it through twinkle (at least most of us do). So maybe something has to be checked in twinkle to do that. I will look at my settings and see what options I have. PDLTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? 17:36, 2 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
Either way I don't really think its something to be worried about. Most people are more than capable of realizing what is meant. -Djsasso (talk) 17:37, 2 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

┌─────────────────────────────────┘
(talk page stalker) @PotsdamLamb: I wonder if the issue is the device you work on. I looked at the talk page you linked, and I don't see anything that looks as bad as you describe. There is a known issue of Twinkle always putting warnings at the bottom of a page, even if the relevant month/year section isn't at the bottom; is that related to what you're talking about? --Auntof6 (talk) 17:58, 2 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

Yeah the problem is that the warning sometimes goes in the section that it doesn't belong in because its always at the bottom. -Djsasso (talk) 17:59, 2 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Auntof6 Djsasso went in and changed the page around. Well now that you say that, yes that is also an issue. If you look at how 4, 5, and 6 are, they are not aligned all the way to the right left as they should be. PDLTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? 18:01, 2 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
I assume you mean left, that isn't an issue either, it is just due to the size of the icons. If the messages go more than 2 lines they will align all the way to the left. You can test this by shrinking the size of your window. -Djsasso (talk) 18:03, 2 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
Struck out right and changed to left. For window, are you talking about the window size that is in twinkle where the default is 800x500? PDLTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? 18:22, 2 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
@PotsdamLamb: I know that DJ changed it, but I was looking at the version from before you made your changes. --Auntof6 (talk) 18:33, 2 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Auntof6 I am on my computer with a wide screen monitor. So you think it may just be because of that? If that is the case, then they need to make it a movable object or something, as all other warnings show properly on my screen. PDLTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? 18:46, 2 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
I can't know, because I'm not seeing what you're seeing. I had a similar issue once where I was trying to work with the author of a template. The template was displaying strangely on my tablet, and the author couldn't understand what I was talking about until I sent him a screenshot. There could be something about your device (or maybe the skin you use?) that makes things look different for you. --Auntof6 (talk) 20:49, 2 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Auntof6 ok I’ll have to play with my settings then. Thanks for the info! PDLTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? 20:56, 2 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

Order of Queen Maria Luisa -> Order of Noble Ladies of Queen Maria Luisa

I appreciate you just copy English Wikipedia regarding article names, but 78% of them are wrong or misleading at the very least. You'd know this if you actually did some research about the things/pages you change and move before you destroy them just so it looks better. 31.125.215.135 (talk) 13:57, 3 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

You know you are wrong right? People for a decade have been explaining to you that you are wrong. You would think you would be tired of trying to force your edits onto pages. -Djsasso (talk) 14:05, 3 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

Apologies for the revert

Sorry for the revert. I'm a bit new to this wiki, and the quote below seemed uncivil to me: "You'd know this if you actually did some research about the things/pages you change and move before you destroy them just so it looks better." Usually on my home wiki, Wikivoyage, we do that, so I thought it might be the same here but it was not. Thanks, and sorry again. SHB2000 (talk) 14:03, 3 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

Yeah it isn't the most civil, but unless it is out right attacks there is no need to remove. No worries I realize it was in good faith. -Djsasso (talk) 14:04, 3 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
Yeah, I think my levels of assuming good faith has sort of gone down after being attacked by Ljupco/GRP around 73 times. SHB2000 (talk) 07:01, 4 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

Spacing on infoboxes

I was wondering if the spacing in the infoboxes really matters (i.e. "Owner = some person" vs. "Owner=some person"? I have seen some people change this and I have done it on occasion, but mostly I take the infobox off of a single line and put it vertical for easier reading. Is it just aesthetics or something else? PDLTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? 17:47, 3 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

No there isn't any difference, its usually just for ease of reading. Most of the time if you see me changing it, its likely cause I am just bringing over whatever en.wiki had and can't be bothered to change the spacing. One thing to note is you should never change the white spacing as the only thing you do in an edit. But otherwise it doesn't matter which version you use. -Djsasso (talk) 19:17, 3 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
No I understand that part. I am usually in those types of articles to fix another error like a citation error or whatever error category it is in. PDLTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? 19:19, 3 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

QD

Sorry about that for 42.110.145.10. Twinkle didn't post the notice to their page and I was looking at Template:QD and thought I had the right one. Sorry for that and thanks for reverting it. I did not intend to QD the talk page :). PDLTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? 18:09, 3 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

Infobox Simplification

I feel the infobox is way too long on Ninjago (TV series). It includes everyone, including those no longer involved with the series. What would you recommend for this? It takes up the entire article. PDLTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? 17:41, 4 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

Generally my recommendation is to keep infoboxes the same as en.wiki. It is pretty standard to list the people for a show that that box is listing. -Djsasso (talk) 11:14, 10 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

Move of Commons

Hi Djsasso, I noticed on this edit you moved the commons to be under the infobox. I remember somewhere, I cannot find the conversation now, but @Auntof6: had told me if the infobox is longer than the article itself, to put commonscat-inline under other websites if available, if not put it in references. I saw you moved it to under the infobox. Maybe Auntof6 can verify for me because it makes the page longer now. Thanks, PDLTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? 18:37, 14 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

It can certainly be in other websites, but it is not a reference so it should not be under references. Likely whatever it was she said was her opinion, and a completely valid one, I just usually leave it as a box when there are no other external websites to put it with under other websites. -Djsasso (talk) 18:41, 14 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
ok PDLTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? 18:42, 14 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
BTW, I am trying to update the ridership to the 2020 numbers, but I cannot seem to figure out where it is pulling from. Can you tell me where it is pulling the numbers from so I can change it? This is for the NYC subways. Thanks PDLTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? 18:43, 14 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
I can point you to them, however, it isn't possible to just update it for one station, it would require updating it for every station in the New York Subway system. And there are a few templates that would need all their numbers updated. If you are going to sit down and do all of them I can show you where and point you to the excel spreadsheet to do so. But this isn't a quick and easy job, it will likely take you hours. -Djsasso (talk) 18:57, 14 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
I am ok with that. I already have the spreadsheet from MTA for both rail and bus. PDLTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? 18:59, 14 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
Ok so I would update them in this order.
Update these once you are done
OK. Thanks. I will start getting these done. I am going to copy them all to my notepad and update that way I can copy and paste so nothing conflicts or breaks. PDLTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? 21:18, 14 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
It was not my opinion. I got it from en:Wikipedia:Wikimedia_sister_projects#Where_to_place_links, specifically this:

Most box-type templates such as {{Commons}} shown at right should be put at the beginning of the last section of the article (which is usually, but not necessarily, the "External links" section) so that boxes will appear next to, rather than below, the list items.

and this:

Sometimes box-type templates are not aesthetically pleasing, either because there are no external links except sister project ones, or because they result in an odd layout, such as a long sequence of right-aligned boxes hanging off the bottom of the article or excessive white space when the section is laid out in columns. In such cases, consider using "inline" templates, such as {{Commons-inline}}, in the "External links" section, so that links to sister projects appear as list items, like this:

This makes sense to me, so I encourage it. --Auntof6 (talk) 22:44, 14 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
I was referring to the putting it in the references section which neither of those quotes says to do. The first quote also refers to the commons template, not the commons-inline template which is what we were talking about. The commons-inline template should never be in the references section because it is not a reference. The non-inline one can go in the references section so that it doesn't go below the references as your quote mentions, but in this specific case putting it in the references section would be incorrect as it would put the commons link inline with the references instead of next to them like the commons template would. -Djsasso (talk) 10:53, 15 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

Closing RfDs

When an RfD is closed the way Wikipedia:Requests for deletion/Requests/2021/Seth the Honorable this one was, without using the usual kept or deleted templates, the request doesn't appear in either the category for successful RfDs or the category for unsuccessful RfDs. Do we need an "other" category for RfDs? Without that, this kind of request could get lost. --Auntof6 (talk) 23:12, 14 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

(talk page stalker) Would it be fine for the Successful/unsuccessful RfD categories to be added manually? --Ferien (talk) 20:09, 17 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
Yeah it would be fine to add a category, though a QD'd article isn't a successful or an unsuccessful Rfd. It isn't something that has ever been considered to really matter much. Fairly high unlikelihood that someone is searching through the categories for closed discussions that aren't successful or unsuccessful. (ie we don't categorize any QD deletions) -Djsasso (talk) 20:19, 17 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

subst temp

What happens if we don't substitute templates? Tsugaru Let's Talk! :) 🍁 20:03, 17 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

Well it just means that it has to load the template from the template page if you don't. If you subst a template then it already has the template because its in the code of the page. Basically it uses less resources...though it isn't something to worry to much about. Most templates are not intended to be substituted. -Djsasso (talk) 20:05, 17 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
Got it! Oh, and since you are an admin on EN-Wiki, I recently ran into an new article that was created via Articles for Creation, though I have some concerns about the licensing of the images used in the article, do I settle this at commons? --Tsugaru Let's Talk! :) 🍁 20:07, 17 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

Nice! My sister owns the video game "NHL 08" for PC. She plays as Chicago Blackhawks. It's very funny, because when she is losing, she resets the game, and her difficulty is set to easy, so it's always like 13 to nothing, and there is also options where you can switch teams and pull the other team's goalie, she does that sometimes. When I play, I like to score in my own net! --Tsugaru Let's Talk! :) 🍁 02:10, 19 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

Interwiki problem

Here's a problem I run into. I choose a title which is simple, such as "Canis Major Dwarf Galaxy" over a title "Canis Major Overdensity" used in En wiki. I find I cannot link to the En page if another title has previously been linked. You'll see from the history that I changed the title from Canis Major Galaxy (which is inexact) to Canis Major Dwarf Galaxy (which is one of two correct options). I think its good for us but, irrespective of that, how in general do I get the software to accept this change when it comes to the interlink with En wiki? Macdonald-ross (talk) 09:57, 15 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

It should change automatically. But in a case like this one I just went to the old name which is a redirect and clicked the link on the side of the page to change interwikis and then edited the one for simple to the new name. --Djsasso (talk) 12:45, 18 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

For what reason would being administrator on Wikipedia require competency? What's the primary reason that you don't feel the admin role is something I can provide? Am I not mature enough for the role? Angela Kate Maureen 17:21, 5 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

Administrators have to be well versed in policy and guidelines etc. In that area you are not very knowledgeable, on your talk page right now there is a discussion where you are not aware about how secondary accounts work for example. -Djsasso (talk) 20:13, 5 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

Idaho

Hi Djsasso - I am looking at everything you did to Idaho. I brought in the template and filled it in and grabbed up to date numbers and put them in. You completely (ok 99%) reverted it back to what it was prior to the updates. What is your reasoning behind that? PDLTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? (Pronouns: He, him, his) 17:33, 5 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

If its the population numbers you are talking about, they reverted back to the 2020 census data as we peg population numbers to the official censuses of countries. Anything between a census is a guess so they don't get used. -Djsasso (talk) 18:36, 5 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
Well it is not just that, it is all of it. [See this diff]. I am just trying to figure out what I did wrong. The lowest point was reverted back to a river, but I changed it to the Town., etc. PDLTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? (Pronouns: He, him, his) 18:39, 5 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
I will take a look, probably didn't notice that you changed that. I will see what is correct, really the change was bringing over the en.wiki infobox. Basically we generally update infoboxes here with the info on them over at en.wiki. So if the information doesn't get changed over there as well as here it generally gets overwritten here eventually unless sourced. -Djsasso (talk) 18:43, 5 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
OK I did source everything I put everything in. Should en.wiki really be overwriting what we put in though or is this a manual process? PDLTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? (Pronouns: He, him, his) 18:47, 5 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
It's manual. I just meant that people generally update the boxes here by copying over the boxes from there. More often than not our infoboxes are considerably out of date or in some cases wrong compared to en.wiki. I personally usually look to make sure there isn't something major different that is wrong on the new stuff. But since you changed the order of things all around in your changes I think some of what you changed got lost in the diff. -Djsasso (talk) 18:49, 5 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
All I did was copy the template back, used the info in the old box and filled out what wasn't completed or updated it (i.e., one thing I did was remove bold headings and reformat the table, that got completely reverted back to the original). PDLTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? (Pronouns: He, him, his) 18:52, 5 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
I mean the elevation and everything was moved from the bottom of the infobox to the top etc. See here. So a side by side comparison couldn't easily be done anymore. Not that it was wrong of you to do it or anything, I was just explaining why some of your changes were likely not noticed. -Djsasso (talk) 18:57, 5 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
Ah ok. I got you. It was just trying to get as much information in as possible that was missing so I went in the order the template is in. I still have the code on notepad so I can easily put things back in when you are done and see what your changes were so I can match it or not touch it. PDLTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? Another Template Conundrum

So, here is another CAT I am trying to empty out Category:Wikipedia_articles_incorporating_an_LRPP-MP_template_with_two_unnamed_parameters - Basically one error I found is at Witham_(UK_Parliament_constituency)#Members_of_Parliament. When I go to edit and preview, that error shows. It looks like it is right and when I pull up Template:Conservative Party (UK)/meta/color, that is correct. So I am wondering if it has something to do with the way in which the code is written in that section. Can you take a look and let me know what the issue may be please? I am about to head to work, but I will monitor email for a response and when I get a chance, implement it. I did figure out the entire numformat thing to so that will be next on my list. Thanks. Templates

Those are not new anything, it is just the layout of the page and I was working on it when you moved it on me and I couldn't save it with the policies from. That page was simply on how a page should be laid out and where sections should be go as people put some of them in different places. Now all of my changes are lost, so go ahead and just delete all of them please as I am not going to go through and do it all over again. PDLTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? (Pronouns: He, him, his) 16:47, 12 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

Yes it would be a new guideline for how a page should be laid out. Every page in the MOS is its own guideline so creating it here is creating a new guideline here. -Djsasso (talk) 16:49, 12 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
How would that be possible when I am seeing some pages in a different order than where a majority of them are, and if I was able to complete the page before it got moved, it could have easily gone up for discussion as it is not linked to anywhere yet. Also, I am not very appreciative of your change summary stating "ugh." I find that very rude.
Again, maybe you should have asked me before taking action on this because it really sucks when I go to save and I can't and I close out the windows. PDLTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? (Pronouns: He, him, his) 16:53, 12 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
The ugh was because I moved it to the wrong location and was fixing my mistake. As for anything else I say this in the gentlest way possible, you need to stop trying to take on these massive projects when you don't have any idea on what you are doing. You really need to try and edit small things or content pages for now. You keep setting yourself these big tasks but you don't really understand how a lot of stuff on the wiki works. -Djsasso (talk) 16:54, 12 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
I am going to just ignore this as you have said this since day one when I started and frankly, I see it as a personal attack that is constant for whatever reason. This was simply copying things over and I would have moved them, had you said something. Now that I have the discussion going on, where again you keep directing attacks at me, that is really uncalled for. It seems you are constantly editing my edits, when I am following what MOS says and as I said, you keep changing things to your personal preference and then accuse me of not knowing what I am doing. I am following the correct structure and if I do something wrong, it is a lot more helpful to point it out and let me know why you feel it was wrong (aka the Idaho article, where you undid all of my changes because you couldn't match up the information) and you reintroduced html and bad information back into the article. I look at your edit history and I do not see you editing anyone else's articles as much as you do mine. You have never once offered me any help from day one. All you have done is constantly attack me. I have been on here quite a while and I have a good understanding of how things work. I have admins helping me figure things out. You are honestly, the only one who seems to have a problem with me. I even as much as put a comma in an article, you revert it. You made a comment way back when that all of my edits had to be fixed because they were all wrong. Numerous people asked you to point out what you meant, including me, and you couldn't. Even looking through my edit history very few had been reverted. Six months-seven months later you are still saying the same song and dance. So I am now asking you to please stop with the personal attacks on me and please be more helpful to me. That is all I am asking of you. I am always available via email so if you send me an email through here that says hey stop what you are doing so we can talk about it, I will stop. Most of what I am bringing over is templates that are missing and causing errors on articles when others copy things from EN. I work mostly on back end stuff, not front end. Natural resources

Hi. Thanks for the edit on the article. I was debating the beginning about whether to be "A natural resource" or "Natural resources are..." I forgot to change it back. I am wondering though why you removed the sci-stub in this [revision]? It is a stub at only 429 words and one source. It may exceed 1500 characters of text (which is really hard to count letters because I can do that in one paragraph and then it wouldn't be a stub) but I put it as a stub do to the fact it only has one source, so the verifiability of it is called into question per WP:STUB. What are your thoughts on this? Thanks! PDLTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? (Pronouns: He, him, his) 01:48, 18 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

(talk page stalker) @PotsdamLamb: Where does it say that having only one source, or verifiability being in question, makes an article a stub?
By the way, the phrase that means "because of" is "due to", not "do to". --Auntof6 (talk) 04:45, 18 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Auntof6 That was a typo. I’m aware of the meanings ;). So I read If a stub has little verifiable information, or if its subject has no apparent notability, it may be deleted or be merged into another relevant article. (WP:STUB) as we can take it out of a stub status if we have a couple of verifiable sources. It only has one source on this particular article but I do not think it would be merged into another article or deleted as it has substance to it but I think adding another source (besides a paper that you have to pay for) could be added. I added the page to my bookmarks for me to work on when I have time. I was curious as to why the stub was removed by him/her. I’m not sure if you can explain his/her rational to why but I’d like your input as to your thoughts too on what you would have done and why. Thanks. PDLTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? (Pronouns: He, him, his) 05:10, 18 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
(talk page stalker) @PotsdamLamb: You misinterpreted the text that you quoted. Actually, any article that doesn't have much verifiable info, or has no apparent notability, can be merged or deleted. If you had a 10,000-character article that fit that description, it would not be a stub but could still be merged or deleted. Also note that it says "If a stub has": that implies that the article is already a stub. Absence of sufficient sources doesn't make an article a stub. --Auntof6 (talk) 05:17, 18 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Auntof6 Ok I see where you are coming from and that makes sense. Thank you for that clarification. Can we make a change (or have a discussion) to change characters to words? When I look at the articles with the page info script it says how many words (minus references, Infobox, auth control, cats, etc.) are in the article. Characters can be anything based on computer reading including spaces, punctuation, etc and not actual words. Thanks again. PDLTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? Latin American poetry

So actually if you look at the previous before I [edited] it, it was YMD. I changed it to DMY, as it is not in the United States, it is in a different country. Per Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style#Dates I used the international date, not the US date. I am not sure why you changed it as your edit summary is also wrong. PDLTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? (Pronouns: He, him, his) 19:53, 18 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

Yes it was YMD, notice the month in front of the day. You used the format some countries use, yes. You did not use the date format in the latin american countries. The US is not the only country that uses that format. In fact most countries outside of Europe do. -Djsasso (talk) 19:56, 18 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hi, DJSasso! When I create the article "Minami-Tori-shima" here, the Japanese Island is also called "Marcus Island" can I name the article "Marcus Island" or does the name need to be the same as EN? When you revert my changes you are not always checking everything. On this particular article you completely wiped out the source that has been on there. Will you please fix your error? PDLTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? (Pronouns: He, him, his) 14:48, 24 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

I wasn't reverting your changes, I was reverting the change that added the source. -Djsasso (talk) 14:49, 24 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
It wiped out my changes too. PDLTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? (Pronouns: He, him, his) 14:50, 24 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
Of course it did, because it removed the source which your change was editing. -Djsasso (talk) 14:51, 24 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
There was another change I made which was to the wording. PDLTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? (Pronouns: He, him, his) 14:53, 24 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

No the Since 1986 etc was part of the edit I was reverting. diff. If you are saying you made that edit then you are sockpuppeting and I should block your account. Are you confirming that Ethan2345678 is you? -Djsasso (talk) 15:05, 24 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
So one - hell to the no. If you feel like you need to CU please do. Secondly, why would you remove a valid source just because a sock-puppet added it? We allow them to create articles and everything else on here and do not remove them. PDLTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? (Pronouns: He, him, his) 15:15, 24 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
Because part of their issue has been bad sources. Lots of sock stuff gets removed on here, hell I am pretty sure I have seen you reverting LTAs. So maybe just maybe keep your anger issues in check before you go spouting off if you don't actually understand diffs and what is happening. -Djsasso (talk) 15:15, 24 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

And again a personal attack on me saying I have anger issues. Wow. Final straw. PDLTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? (Pronouns: He, him, his) 15:18, 24 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
Not a personal attack to state that you absolutely lose your cool anytime you think someone is doing something that affects your edits. Just another factor in your WP:CIR box. -Djsasso (talk) 15:21, 24 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
But again you are once again assuming I am angry and now back to WP:CIR of which it is neither. However, the constant demeaning, derogatory, and accusations you keep throwing at me (since day 1) has been an issue and I’m going to seek alternatives at this point. PDLTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? (Pronouns: He, him, his) 15:29, 24 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
I don't have to assume. You are the one making the angry posts. They CIR comes in when you can't read a diff and go and complain to someone about something and then when they show you a diff of your own edit which doesn't have wording change you still don't listen and continue to try and argue. But go ahead and seek alternatives if you wish, you will likely just see a WP:BOOMERANG. I haven't said anything that you haven't done so go ahead. There is a saying, if people keep pointing out issues then maybe the fault isn't with them, it is with you. Your block log on en.wiki and your editing history here backs up anything I have ever said. -Djsasso (talk) 15:34, 24 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
There are no angry posts. When you are reverting whatever it is, it shows mine right next to it and that you removed it from my edit. None of my edits have been problematic. Or very few of the more advanced kind that I’m working on getting familiar with and I ask questions. You are the only person on this Wiki who has issues with me. Everyone else (admins and users alike) have been helpful and kind (except LTAs of course). You appear to be extremely fixated on my past and are trying to get me to the point where you can block me but I’m not that person that I was over there. Again you are assuming my posts and conversations are angry and I keep telling you they are not. If that is how you want to interpret them, I cannot do anything about it. However you constantly accusing me of being angry, the post above asking me about if I’m an lta user and you should block me, telling me I’m spouting off, and every other comment. Stating I absolutely lose my cool like you did above. You do not know me and I have never once done any of those. If I did I would have been blocked a long time ago. Instead I’m engaging you in conversation but am being attacked by you and your insinuating remarks, which are not expected of an admin. At this point I’m going to end this conversation. PDLTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? (Pronouns: He, him, his) 15:51, 24 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
I am not trying to get you to the point where I can block you, in my opinion you passed the blocking point a long time ago. Quite the opposite actually, if I was trying to get you blocked you would have been blocked a long time ago. You continue to do many of the same things here that got you blocked there. You did it in this statement right now, blaming me for pointing out problems that you have. I am not the first person that has pointed out that you ignore peoples concerns and then blame them and get mad at them when they point them out to you. I can go get quotes from other people pointing out you do the same thing in the past. I would like nothing more than for you to be a productive editor, but you can't continually jump at people when they point out issues you have. It isn't productive, and anger issues combined with competency issues is a textbook case of WP:CIR. -Djsasso (talk) 16:01, 24 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

Doraemon

What are your thoughts on breaking down the cast members a little more in some of the sections where it says like Japanese Cast, English Cast, American Cast, etc? Right now it is just a massive list with bullet points everywhere indented one or two times so basically adding another heading for each one under their respective titles? PDLTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? (Pronouns: He, him, his) 18:40, 24 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

Yuck that page is a mess. Yeah, if you think you can make it cleaner I am game for pretty much anything. To be honest, the best course of action might be to make stubs for each of the different series and split out the characters to them. But whatever you think is best. The current situation is definitely not good. -Djsasso (talk) 19:04, 24 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
So basically chop it down to a bunch of stubs? I am thinking they were trying to do something along the lines of a series. I can work on it over the next couple of days. Thanks. PDLTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? (Pronouns: He, him, his) 19:15, 24 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
Yeah like that article on en.wiki is basically about the franchise as a whole. Looking at it I see that in a bunch of sections they see also link to specific articles for the different series, which I assume is where they have the more detailed stuff. I didn't follow the links so not sure. The IP(s) might be getting a bit carried away with how much cast they are listing as well. -Djsasso (talk) 19:19, 24 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
Ok. I will tear it apart section by section. Thanks. PDLTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? (Pronouns: He, him, his) 19:23, 24 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

Onlyinclude

What is the purpose of this in some templates? I am trying to find where the }} is not on the template on Game of Thrones and I noticed that one entry says <only.....>73</onl...>? Thanks. PDLTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? (Pronouns: He, him, his) 20:12, 24 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

Onlyinclude tags make it so only the stuff in them show up on the page the template is put on. -Djsasso (talk) 10:31, 25 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
But it does that without them too though? If it is a template, doesn't it only take data validation for that template? PDLTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? (Pronouns: He, him, his) 17:20, 25 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
Some people use onlyinclude tags to include things and others use noinclude tags to exclude things. Same result and opposite ways of doing things. Either is good. -Djsasso (talk) 17:22, 25 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
okies PDLTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? (Pronouns: He, him, his) 17:24, 25 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
(change conflict)  I just looked at the page you are talking about and didn't realize you meant in the parameters of the template. I thought you meant in the template code itself. In this case we are likely only using it because en.wiki is. And en.wiki is using it probably because some other page is transcluding the entire page (like you would a template) and only want certain info showing up. This is often done if you want to take sections from a bunch of similar articles and then have them all show up on one central article as well. -Djsasso (talk) 17:26, 25 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
Is it necessary when it is only a number, I think in this case 73. Does it need those parameters? PDLTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? (Pronouns: He, him, his) 17:28, 25 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
I just looked and on our wiki they can be removed. Looks like on en.wiki they need to be there because List of Game of Thrones episodes is taking the info for that article. So it is possible in the future we would need it. But we don't at the moment. -Djsasso (talk) 17:31, 25 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

The Identifiers

These are the identifiers from the authority control bar. AC comes up red line for them and when I look at EN, that is what they have. Those identifiers are linked to one thing. I am working on the main article now but needed to fix the redlinks so AC works right. PDLTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? (Pronouns: He, him, his) 19:46, 26 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

No I understand that part, to fix the redlink you should have just created the missing redirect to the already existing article. By all means bring over and simplify the info from en.wiki. But you should do it on the article that already exists here at MusicBrainz. -Djsasso (talk) 19:48, 26 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
Ok I was just following their layout. Thanks. PDLTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? (Pronouns: He, him, his) 19:50, 26 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
Yeah you just created the article at MBRG (identifier) which on en.wiki is a redirect is all I meant. Probably just didn't notice that it redirected you to MusicBrainz on en.wiki. Happens to me sometimes. -Djsasso (talk) 19:53, 26 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
Ok so how would I fix that in authority control as it goes to the identifier codes (either one of the two I made) then redirects. I don't think we should really be doing that based on redirect guide. PDLTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? (Pronouns: He, him, his) 20:11, 26 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
That is how the authority control template works. All the identifiers redirect to the main article. That is why the redirect template you copied over exists, for all the various identifiers that redirect to their main article. For example if you look at Grace Kelly if you click on any of the links in the AC that are a wikilink as opposed to external they go to a redirect which redirects to the organization page. There is even one on there for MusicBrainz which uses a different identifier. You just happened to stumble onto a couple of identifiers that weren't redirected here yet. -Djsasso (talk) 20:17, 26 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
Ah ok. So when I come across those, if they are redlinked, create a redirect that goes to the main article (if we have it or create it). Am I understanding you correctly? PDLTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? (Pronouns: He, him, his) 20:19, 26 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
Yep. You had the right idea, just needed to be pointed in the right direction. Some of these organizations have multiple identifiers so if we created the article at each one there would be a lot of repetition. If you click on "What links here" on the side bar on the MusicBrainz article you can see there are a bunch redirected to it already. -Djsasso (talk) 20:28, 26 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
Awesome, I will do a couple and then link you to them so you can check my work before I get too far into it. Basically my entire idea (besides fighting our LTAs (which should be hitting any day now as it is the end of the month)) is to get as many articles as I can corrected and start working on the content. Thanks for the information. PDLTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? (Pronouns: He, him, his) 20:33, 26 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

Rollback

Hello DJSasso, Hope you're well, In regards to Rollback, It should be noted that

  • In this edit an IP added what is obviously a spam link - They were rollbacked.
  • In this edit an IP changed "an" to "a" (although prior to this they did vandalise the article however this edit specifically wasn't vandalism) - They were rollbacked
  • In this edit an IP added (unsourced) Brazilian dates (and added this under an account prior too) - They were rollbacked
  • In this edit an IP added unsourced content - They were rollbacked,

Do I trust you're going to send them all a rollback revocation message because all of what's linked isn't vandalism either,

I still stand by my rollback of Ricardo who had changed a whole ton of articles without any consensus. Twinkle does not work and no one is going to spend a whole hour or 2 individually clicking undo and then pasting the same edit summary 20-100 times ..... If it worked I would've used it.

Anyway I would ask that if you genuinely believe my reverts/rollback are harmful to this project that you then please revoke my rollback and autopatrol rights (if this happened then I wouldn't revert any vandals from this point onwards). Anyway I'm sorry for my unintentional disruption. Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 22:02, 26 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

(talk page stalker) - These kinds of things should be posted on WP:AN so all admins can see it and take action. I have added warnings to those IPs about their edits. I would also link to this topic on this page on the AN. Thanks PDLTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? (Pronouns: He, him, his) 22:47, 26 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
Hello, Unfortunately you're missing the point - Those IPs were all rollbacked for non-vandalism reasons yet I get threatened with rollback-revocation for my edits which I disagree with, So either those rollbackers were incorrect to use rollback and should be warned, or my right-revocation warning should be rescinded. –Davey2010Talk 22:54, 26 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
And still I would post it on the admins notice board and the admins can make that decision. Djsasso may not be back on today but posting on that board you will get a faster response. PDLTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? (Pronouns: He, him, his) 22:57, 26 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
You need to worry about what you are doing, not what other people are doing. You did a huge amount of rollbacks in a row in what amounted to a content dispute, the very opposite of how it is supposed to be used, had you done a single one here or there no one would likely have flinched. I realize you believe there was no consensus for him to do so, however, you would be wrong as there was a discussion on moving the page and consensus was reached, meaning it was perfectly acceptable and not no consensus to change them, had you discussed first instead of jumping to rapidly rolling back you might have found that out. And yes, many of us very often go one by one and undo many edits instead of rolling them back when its not warranted. I gave you a note about the issue to be nice, I could have just removed them. All you had to do was say you know what, you are right that wasn't vandalism and everything would be fine and we could all go on about our days. -Djsasso (talk) 00:12, 27 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
Oh and I should point out 1,2,4 in your list above are all vandalism. Spam is a form of vandalism, we have a vandal that goes around changing an to a all the time, and we have a vandal that adds hoax information to movie infoboxes which is the last one. I would have to check into 3 more and see, but we have a vandal that adds fake dates to video games as well so I am guessing that is likely them. So its likely all 4 of those are vandalism. -Djsasso (talk) 00:22, 27 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
Fair point. In hindsight I should've used undo that would've been the sensible option. I apologise for becoming wound up yesterday I've had issues elsewhere and truth be told I was fed up so yesterday was the tip of the iceberg. Anyway I apologise for using rollback shouldn't of been used, Take care and stay safe, Warm Regards, –Davey2010Talk 11:22, 27 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

Also, there was a request for deletion (RfD) for your page a couple of weeks ago, in which the community decided to delete the article (Wikipedia:Requests for deletion/Requests/2021/Anshuman Tiwari). Pages deleted at requests for deletion should not be recreated. Please do not attempt to recreate the page. Thanks, --Ferien (talk) 16:03, 27 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

I know you like this.....

On 2021–22 Premier League I am seeing qty. 2 of the Template Programming Element on the article through WPCleaner. The footer also shows Category:Pages using sports table with orphaned results and Category:Pages using duplicate arguments in template calls. I know how to fix the duplicate arguments on regular articles, but it looks like this one is pulling from other templates. Can you assist on this and also help me understand what to do or a quick way to find the duplicates as there are 582 in that CAT alone, but the first CAT is a redlink. I am wondering if I make that CAT if it would fill up pretty fast. PDLTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? (Pronouns: He, him, his) 23:23, 27 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

Boxes

Hey so something I do not know how to do. I fixed all the references on Khongjomnubi Nongarol but there are two boxes. One is a template and the other is a infobox book. The template is coming up to the left of the infobox instead of under it. I tried adding it within the curly brackets and that didn't work. What is the correct way to do it? Thanks. PDLTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? (Pronouns: He, him, his) 03:10, 30 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

(talk page stalker) @PotsdamLamb: They're both templates, actually: infoboxes are templates. In any case, take a look at what I did. By the way, you might want to put this kind of question on Simple Talk. It isn't really an admin thing, and you might get an answer faster. --Auntof6 (talk) 04:46, 30 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Auntof6 That is interesting. I have never seen that used. Where is the explanation for it and in what ways can it be used? And thanks! These are non-urgent things so I am not usually looking for fast answers just the learning experience. I am aware this is not an "admin thing" but I do not remember reading anywhere I can only post admin things on an admin's talk page. PDLTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? (Pronouns: He, him, his) 04:53, 30 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
(talk page stalker) @PotsdamLamb: It's a shortcut for the {{clear}} template; you can read about it in the template's documentation.
Of course you can post non-admin things on admins' talk pages. I just like to see questions posted on pages where they're likely to get the widest exposure and quickest response. --Auntof6 (talk) 05:50, 30 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
Ok I remember the clear part never knew you can do it with a hyphen though. Thanks for that tidbit. PDLTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? (Pronouns: He, him, his) 06:13, 30 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

About the Deletion of the article Mufti Mujeeb Ashraf Sahab Qibla

Good Evening. I read the discussion about the wikipedia article Mufti Mujeeb Ashraf Sahab Qibla and you have proved with good points on why the article should be closed. However, you also said that the article has significantly improved form its past state. The article is deleted now. So did you still think that the page should have been deleted and why? And if not then can I retrieve the article ? I don’t know much about wikipedia but if you can help retrieve the article I can try my best to improve the article with citations and more. If you cannot retrieve the article, then can you please tell me whom to talk to retrieve it. Sorry for disturbing. Hope you have a nice day Thank You Furqaan Qadri (talk) 21:14, 1 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

Question

IP user 110.54.197.192 is asking to be unblocked. It seems to be included in the rangeblock you made for 110.54.128.0/17. How is 110.54.197.192 included in that range when 197 doesn't seem to be included in 128? --Auntof6 (talk) 01:06, 19 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

That range block covers 110.54.128.1 - 110.54.255.254 because it is a /17. You can see what IPs that are covered by range blocks with this calculator. -Djsasso (talk) 15:02, 20 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

Current iOS template.

I have removed Current iOS template from iPhone 12 Pro because it hasn’t created yet. Don’t remove this template again or you’ll be blocked. 13switch (talk) 13:10, 22 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

Highly suggest not warning people that they will be blocked for removing a template they never removed. It is only likely to lead yourself to a block. -Djsasso (talk) 15:46, 22 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

Horror film on English Wikipedia

Dear friend can you edit create a 1896-1919, a 1920-1959 section, a 1960-1969 section, and a 1970-present section for horror film on English Wikipedia? Horrorfan1000000 (talk) 15:22, 25 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

@Horrorfan1000000: Hello, the Simple English Wikipedia is unrelated to the English one and we cannot help you as a community. Please ask an auto-confirmed editor on the en-wiki to help edit the page. 💠Ely - Talk💠 16:24, 25 September 2021 (UTC)Reply
You will need to make that request on English Wikipedia on the talk page of the article. -Djsasso (talk) 16:57, 25 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

Do you know any auto-confirmed editors yourself. Horrorfan1000000 (talk) 22:18, 25 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

Can you give my request to any one of the auto-confirmed editors you know. Horrorfan1000000 (talk) 22:19, 25 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

Stop adding non-notable people to that list as it is clearly spam. -Djsasso (talk) 18:08, 28 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

VPN

Hey, Djsasso, do you know why when I use VPN (not for Wikipedia) on my tablet, when it is set for Japan. Instagram, and some other apps still detect that I am in Canada? Tsugaru Let's Talk! :) 🍁 02:25, 29 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

Usually because your tablet can still detect where it physically is. Especially if it has a SIM card in it. Android for example has what it calls location services which tells apps and whatnot where you actually are. -Djsasso (talk) 02:27, 29 September 2021 (UTC)Reply
