Here

This is a link I use to keep track of the congressional districts. Its optional but fun to get a visual of what it looks like. Only problem is that after everytime you add a district you have to hit "Share" and save the link. I do this and add it to my user page. I just color code each one red. The map was not updated after the 2020 election but it won't make a difference.

Thanks for the link, I'll see if I can add them to the map when I make the articles. —Belwine (talk) 08:14, 2 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Deemed/Undeemed

I saw some of the pages, which you said you had connected, has the "other languages button " (Roughly like this🔄) at the top left, has deemed sign while some have Undeemed sign. I don't know how to express, but hope you know what I mean.

For example, in the page, Leimarel Sidabi, there's deemed sign. Why is it so? Haoreima (talk) 07:30, 3 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Can you tell me why is it so? Haoreima (talk) 12:33, 3 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Oops, apologies, I forgot to respond to this one. Can you tell me an article which has an "undeemed" sign, so I can compare? Thanks, —Belwine (talk) 12:35, 3 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Simple: Leimarel Sidabi and en:Leimarel Sidabi Haoreima (talk) 12:38, 3 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hmm, I can't really see what you can see, with the undeemed and deemed sign. I can see that on the English wikipedia, it says that the article can be viewed in Simple English, but on the Simple English Wikipedia it doesn't say about the English Wikipedia. I think it's an issue with Wikidata, let me check a second... —Belwine (talk) 12:46, 3 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Regarding that, I saw the same situation in page Nongthang Leima. Later, when I reinsert the interwiki links, they got linked.

I don't know whether it's peculiar or not. BTW, waiting for your return from wikidata. Haoreima (talk) 12:48, 3 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

The thing I saw with this wikipedia not showing a link on the side to English Wikipedia is probably a bug, the Wikidata item is fine. —Belwine (talk) 12:53, 3 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Then, what shall we do? Haoreima (talk) 13:07, 3 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

I'm not really sure. I think it is fine to leave it be for now. I tried adding links to that article and it said they were already connected ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
so it's probably a bug or something... —Belwine (talk) 13:10, 3 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Vandalism

You have been helping out with the vandalism on the wiki, but when you revert the vandalism or damage by the user who vandalized, leaving warnings on their talk page will make it worse, according to ImprovedWikiImprovement. The same outcome goes for anonymous Vandals as well, according to WP:DENY. I’m not trying to tell you “don’t leave warnings” or anything like that, I’m just giving you a heads up. Thanks though. IamNotTheGuyWhoSocked (talk) 17:26, 3 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

@IamNotTheGuyWhoSocked: Firstly, WP:DENY is an essay. Secondly, that's not really what WP:DENY is talking about. WP:DENY is for people who have been disrupting the project for months, or years.
Warnings are fine if a user is just adding nonsense into a page, or doing childish vandalism. I only give a certain amount of warnings though, I won't just keep on warning once it's clear the user is just interested in vandalism. —Belwine (talk) 17:29, 3 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Ok sorry about that. IamNotTheGuyWhoSocked (talk) 17:31, 3 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Also, I'm a little confused. You haven't interacted with IWI at all, you joined yesterday. I am wondering how you would know about IWI's advice for not leaving warnings on talk pages for certain users, on your first day? —Belwine (talk) 17:35, 3 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

WikiProject invitation

Hello Belwine, I would like to invite you to WikiProject Vital Articles! There are over 100,000 articles on Simple English Wikipedia, but this project's goal is to work on 100 of the most important articles. We will choose one or two articles to improve at a time. We will try to make the articles more complete or promote them to good article status. Hope to see you there! Naddruf (talk) 18:47, 3 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Sorry, I meant to join a couple of days ago when the wikiproject was created, but forgot. I have joined now. Thanks, —Belwine (talk) 19:10, 3 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

New language code template

@Belwine: There are templates { {lang-grc| } } for Ancient Greek or { {lang-mni| } } for Manipuri language. Similarly, I want a template { {lang-omp| } } for Old Manipuri. omp is it's language code. Unfortunately, lang-omp is not supported. How shall I create it? Help me! Haoreima (talk) 04:53, 4 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Like this one Template:Lang-mni, I like for the old Manipuri language. Haoreima (talk) 04:57, 4 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

@Haoreima: I am not the best at templates, but this is lang-mni's code

<includeonly>{{#invoke:lang|lang_xx_inherit
|code=mni
}}</includeonly><noinclude>
{{Documentation|Template:Lang-x/doc}}
If you copy that onto the page Template:Lang-omp, replacing mni with omp, then it should work. —Belwine (talk) 07:33, 4 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Will copy and paste become vandalizm? Haoreima (talk) 08:46, 4 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

It's never vandalism if you are trying to help. —Belwine (talk) 08:57, 4 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Kissing girls, and liking it...

Hello Belwine, its nice the original author told us that he (presumably) likes kissing girls, but in the case of the Chilean ridge coming up with a two sentence stub wasn't that difficult...--Eptalon (talk) 13:37, 4 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Ok, apologies. I occasionally rewrite the articles I request for deletion but not too often. I'll try to do it more. Thanks, —Belwine (talk) 13:40, 4 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
No worries, there are several approaches to handling such articles. And remember: there are few reasons to not kiss girls, if you like kissing them... --Eptalon (talk) 13:51, 4 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Infoboxes

Hello, When adding infoboxes please make sure you don't do this - Infobox parameters should always be on new lines if that makes sense (like this)
Doing it your way makes it completely impossible for editors who use WikiText to edit it. Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 14:11, 4 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

@Davey2010: Yes, this is because of VisualEditor. If you add an infobox in VisualEditor, infoboxes will end up looking like that when you copy them. (At least, those are the results when I tried to copy the infobox from en:Test (2014 film) to my user page here.) I will just do it in source editor in future, as I prefer the new line format too.
Also, for other articles, it is fine if there is an infobox with information that is already in the article. I'm not sure if the same would apply to buses, but that's what applies for cities and people.
Thanks, —Belwine (talk) 14:31, 4 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
Hi Belwine, Ah okay sorry I didn't realise it was a VE issue, Generally speaking most vehicles here don't have them but I'll ask at Simple talk and if editors agree they're fine then I'll add them back :), Many thanks, –Davey2010Talk 14:54, 4 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
Ok, thanks :) —Belwine (talk) 14:56, 4 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Social media

Is exposing my social media account link in my user page a vandalism? Can I do that? Haoreima (talk) 14:37, 4 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

@Haoreima: You can add a social media account to your user page, as long as it is not a major part of your user page. —Belwine (talk) 14:56, 4 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Haunted

@Belwine: I have not inserted any image in the page Nongthang Leima but this one appears. Besides me, none edited the page. Seems like wikipedia gets haunted by something. 😱😱 How can I know who did this? Haoreima (talk) 16:57, 5 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

You added the infobox here Special:Diff/7381865 but there is not an image in the infobox. That's strange.
It might be because the page got linked to Wikidata and the image is on Wikidata, and automatically got connected to the infobox? I'm pretty sure that's why. (Btw, it was connected to Wikidata by me) —Belwine (talk) 17:03, 5 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Then, how shall I remove the image? The image is of a tribal girl (Haoreima) and the very page is of a thunder goddess (Nongthang Leima). It needs to be removed. Haoreima (talk) 17:33, 5 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Oh ok, see wikidata:Q85789406, or I can do it for you —Belwine (talk) 17:35, 5 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

I have a message left for you in the talk page of wiki data Nongthang Leima. Hope I will learn easier there. Haoreima (talk) 02:57, 6 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Replied on the talk page. Not sure if adding interwiki links is possible on mobile. —Belwine (talk) 10:51, 6 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Haoreima: I have removed the image on the Wikidata item. —Belwine (talk) 19:20, 14 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Merged

User:Djsasso is not responding me for many days. He had merged the page List of Puyas into Puya (Meitei texts). I have requested him to un merged it.

What can I do now? Haoreima (talk) 10:51, 6 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

I wouldn't worry too much. Djsasso probably merged it because it would be better to have the list in the article. —Belwine (talk) 10:52, 6 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Ok. Haoreima (talk) 10:55, 6 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Info box color

I want to have a color of infobox deity in all the possible pages related to Meitei mythology. Like Poseidon and Lakshmi have specific colors, how shall I format the color? One example of Meitei mythology deity having infobox is Wangbren. Could you teach me? Haoreima (talk) 10:57, 6 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

I can't seem to find anything that would make the infobox green. It might be the infobox template only having a green colour on some of the articles? I'm not sure.. —Belwine (talk) 11:00, 6 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

It means green is not reserved for Greek gods and yellow is not reserved for Hindus. Right! Haoreima (talk) 11:03, 6 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

I'm not sure, I don't know much about infoboxes. —Belwine (talk) 11:07, 6 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

OK. Haoreima (talk) 11:08, 6 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

I moved the page that needed moving. I will check the others soon —Belwine (talk) 07:58, 7 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
Oh, and by the way, @Haoreima: you can move a page just by going to Special:MovePage/X, X being the name of the page you want to move. —Belwine (talk) 12:13, 7 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
(talk page stalker) @Haoreima: In disambiguation pages, please use bullets instead of numbers to format the lists. Thanks. --Auntof6 (talk) 08:08, 7 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Oh, apologies. I usually keep an eye on recent changes whilst I'm doing the changes, but I'll request the flood flag in future. Thanks, —Belwine (talk) 12:32, 8 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hey hey. So Going through cleanup and I have an article that is throwing errors due to double indentation. What is the best way to do this list? I looked at the MOS and it doesn't really help me on this. The article--PotsdamLamb (talk) 15:01, 11 March 2021 (UTC) is List of plants by common name. I am also curious as to why the URL is written using + for spacing and not _. I do not know how to change that.Reply

Your comments at Wikipedia:Requests for permissions/Rollback

Your non-admin observation comments at Wikipedia:Requests for permissions/Rollback were not needed. Requests for rollback are not a community vote. The admins who respond to these requests know what to check for, including the kinds of things you mentioned. When non-admins comment on these requests, it 1) can make it harder to process the request because of the additional verbiage to the page, 2) can promote hard feelings between users and 3) can make the user feel "ganged-up on" when the responding admin needs to repeat what a non-admin said. Please try to comment only on requests that are community votes. Thanks. --Auntof6 (talk) 17:22, 13 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

They did not seem simple to me. You might want to see BE 1500.
Also, it is better for us to use shorter sentences here. In my opinion, we should be making sentences as easy to read as possible here. —Belwine (talk) 18:20, 16 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

No Promotion but???

@Belwine: Do you think writing about persons and books, too much in wikipedia, is a form of promotion? Is it a vandalism? Actually, I have no notion of promotion of products. And I always tried to prevent promotional tone while writing about them. For references, I mean The Tales of Kanglei Throne, New Folktales of Manipur, regarding books. And James Oinam, regarding person. Haoreima (talk) 05:14, 19 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

I am asking you this because one of my friends, was blocked in en wikipedia, for creating articles about many business companies, too much. Haoreima (talk) 05:15, 19 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

The articles will probably be kept if the article is NPOV and the subject of the article meets the general notability guideline. They don't appear to be obvious advertising, so they can't be deleted under G11. —Belwine (talk) 06:57, 19 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

But, is there any rule against creation of business companies related articles, for which my friend was blocked,en:User:Awangba Mangang in en wikipedia? Haoreima (talk) 10:08, 19 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Yes, businesses (or anything) you're making an article on must meet the general notability guideline. There need to be sources available that show notability, and these sources must be reliable and talk about them in some detail. —Belwine (talk) 16:20, 19 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
(talk page stalker) The other issue here is tone. The article should be written in an encyclopedic tone, not a promotional tone. --Auntof6 (talk) 22:52, 19 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
(talk page stalker) Yet another issue is Conflict of Interest, if the page is written by a person close to the topic. These pages aren't providing reliable, verifiable objective sources. Please consider:
I've noticed the Meitei/Manipur content here on the Simple English WP as I'm interested in folklore. Especially with the dual name, I started looked into forming properly nested categories here to improve access to these pages, and also to link them to existing Wikidata items which will form interwiki links (i.e., to other WP language projects). The matter is complex and is worth further effort. I welcome other editors' input. Deborahjay (talk) 21:07, 20 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

@Deborahjay: No, I don't have any relationship with James Oinam. In fact, the only relationship is that he and I belong to Oinam family. That's all. The family name coincides and nothing else. If there is any further problems with my articles, please inform me so that I could develop them in better way. Haoreima (talk) 02:56, 21 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

@Auntof6: But I think I have not written anything in promotional tone till now. If you find anything such, please make sure to either inform me please or edit it please. Haoreima (talk) 02:58, 21 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

@Deborahjay: You say something about mentioning in the article's talk page. Actually, I want to put some information on Meitei Wikipedia page, as

"User:Haoreima contributes 70℅ of all the articles in Meitei Wikipedia. And User:Awangba Mangang was the pioneer of the Wikipedia. They are the only two persons, who are active in the Wikipedia."

What do you think, that it could be written by me, or should need someone to write it as the information relates me? Haoreima (talk) 16:37, 22 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Sock master's story

@Belwine: I agree that I am a sock master in general English Wikipedia. My foremost account was en:User:Goutamkumar Oinam, my most precious account. I forgot its password. So, I created "Goutamkumar Oinam 2". There, I got blocked from Admin " Kuru". During that time, I had no idea about what is sock puppet or meat puppet or multiple accounts vandalism. So, I created multiple accounts. And all of them got blocked after a few edits each. This time, I lost Haoreima in en Wikipedia, blocked by Djsasso.

Now, my last asylum is only simple English Wikipedia.

But I want to have unblock request for "Goutamkumar Oinam 2" (because I forgot the foremost account's password). I want to seek apologies. Will it be affective or useful? @Djsasso: you may also reply me here. Haoreima (talk) 14:44, 27 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

@Haoreima: Hello. Apologies for my late response, I have been rather busy today.
Regarding your block on enwiki, I would recommend waiting at least a few months before making an unblock request. Do not make any more accounts.
Then in a few months, request an unblock using {{unblock}}. Read w:WP:GAB (Guide to Appealing Blocks).

Blog sourcing

@Belwine: I have been told by Djsasso not to add any blog website in the reference if the articles. Do you think these pages, Emblem of Manipur, Coat of arms of Manipur, Flag of Manipur and Flag of Kangleipak have any such bad sourcing? If yes, as a part of vandalism, please remove them.

But still, I don't know what is the difference between blog website and others. I have already read the page reliable source in Wikipedia. Haoreima (talk) 03:21, 29 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Good morning,
The articles seem quite good, although remember that related websites are not references. Just a few tips:
  1. Instead of using a commons.m.wikimedia.org link for Commons, use {{Commons}} for Commons categories.
  2. When talking about external links, we use the term "Other websites" here.
  3. "See also" is used on the English Wikipedia, whilst "Related pages" is used here.
  4. External links don't really count as references.
  5. In an article, when you are talking about the flag or something, or coat of arms, or most things, I don't think it is necessary to have "s on the name, you can just leave it without them.
So instead of writing: The "Emblem of Manipur" is the State Emblem of Manipur.
Write: The Emblem of Manipur is the State Emblem of Manipur.

With the reliable source thing, just think whether the article is made by a news company with journalists or someone just typing up a page at home. From what I can see, e-pao.net is more of a news company than a blog and so I think this is appropriate to use in articles. —Belwine (talk) 06:12, 29 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

@Belwine: Sorry for untimely response from my side. Well, I extend a lots of thanks for your help and advices. Haoreima (talk) 18:23, 29 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Revert method

@Belwine: How should I revert another person's edit, even though I am not a rollbacker? Some editors did it, when they are not even rollbackers. I received notifications about my edit getting reverted in the page Genus. Haoreima (talk) 03:15, 31 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Simply use the undo button in the page history. Just so you know, rollback is for reverting obvious vandalism and not for reverting everything. Also, I would recommend discussing with Naddruf per w:WP:BRD. --Belwine (talk) 05:27, 31 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Thanks. Haoreima (talk) 11:13, 31 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Oh, and also, for anti-vandalism (reverting edits that are made in bad-faith), you can use Twinkle. --Belwine (talk) 15:39, 31 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

@Belwine: Thanks! I will read the guidelines. And another help, in the English page en:Pakhangba, a user "Palin Thangjam" performed an unhelpful edit, please revert it. It converts the blue links into red links by changing the names inside the square brackets. Haoreima (talk) 05:23, 1 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

There is nothing wrong with simply changing the links to red links, as long as the information correct. Is the information correct? --Belwine (talk) 05:49, 1 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

The user converts the link Leimarel Sidabi into Ema Leimarel Sidabi. The word "Ema" means mother. Same case happens to another link. Haoreima (talk) 13:59, 1 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

It's like converting link Athena into Goddess Athena. Haoreima (talk) 14:00, 1 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

No futility, I think so! Haoreima (talk) 14:00, 1 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

@Belwine: If you think I am right, then please help me! Haoreima (talk) 01:35, 2 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

Ok, I'm going to check again. Another editor has made a change since then, is that change ok too? I have reverted back to the change you wanted, since some content was also removed too with no explanation. --Belwine (talk) 08:28, 2 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

@Belwine: After User Palin Thangjam's edit, it's done by User Ajay Das (written in Bengali name), I think there's no problem now. BTW, thanks for help! And please make sure that if that user continues such unhelpful edits, then notify him of his vandalism. Haoreima (talk) 08:59, 2 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

I want your help in en Wikipedia until I have an account free from blocked. For that,I have to wait for some months,as per your suggestions. Haoreima (talk) 09:01, 2 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

Ok, I can't really do edits for you on enwiki, unless it's reverting vandalism. --Belwine (talk) 10:42, 2 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

@Belwine: Sure, I have been and will request you only in case of vandalism or unhelpful edits. Haoreima (talk) 16:49, 2 April 2021 (UTC)Reply
