I was just on my way to chat to you about the use of rollback for this article just now, but I see you've undone your revert. I think this was the right hing to do;I think that the anon editor was acting in good faith. fr33kman talk 21:57, 18 March 2009 (UTC)

Thanks. I checked the diff before and it seemed a slightly weird edit, so I wasn't sure and reverted. However after reading it again, it was better before. Regards, Yotcmdr =talk to the commander= 22:01, 18 March 2009 (UTC)

Yot, just a note that as it stands your sig does violate WP:SIG. You can't change the font size so that it is "big" and affects other people's comments/other text on the page. Just a warning, it could get you blocked ;). Goblin 10:04, 23 April 2009 (UTC)
Hi BG. I've just finished reading it, and it say do not have your sig so small, people can't read it. And it doesn't use the "Big" fint size. Unless I have it in size 3 (or 4, can't remember), it's unreadable :). Anyway, I'm still trying to invent a new one. Yottie =talk= 16:43, 23 April 2009 (UTC)

Hey thanks a lot :D Yotcmdr =talk to the commander= 17:44, 11 May 2009 (UTC)

France change

Rest of review added. Please also quickly address the issues with the fact that the history section completely omits both World War I and World War II, both of which, you'll agree, are significant events in the history of the country. Also consider the sinking of the Greenpeace boat... (that's just my opinion!) The Rambling Man (talk) 19:43, 11 May 2009 (UTC)

Ok. I agree with adding the WWs, but not so sure about the greepeace boat. It was a mistake, and even though they did blow it up, not sure it needs to feature in the article. Just my opinion. Yotcmdr =talk to the commander= 19:49, 11 May 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, no worries. While it may have been a mistake, the perpetrators were treated like heroes by the French government, not their finest hour. Anyway, get on with those two World Wars - I'd expect a couple of large paragraphs explaining what part the country played in the Western Front, the Resistance, trench warfare, tanks, D-Day etc. The Rambling Man (talk) 19:59, 11 May 2009 (UTC)
All of those things? The articles on WWI and II hardly explain that themselves :p Yotcmdr =talk to the commander= 20:08, 11 May 2009 (UTC)

800 change

Can you point me to where it was decided we were dropping the 800 characters requirement? It still says it in the guidelines/rules. This is the only discussion I see about changing the requirement, and it's only your comment. Either way (talk) 01:46, 12 May 2009 (UTC)

I see this thread, too, but that isn't any official decision being made, just people throwing out suggestions. Either way (talk) 01:51, 12 May 2009 (UTC)

Italics = figure of speech change

Since when...? –Juliancolton | Talk 03:49, 28 June 2009 (UTC)

(From en wiki, important parts bolded) "A figure of speech is a use of a word that diverges from its normal meaning, or a phrase with a specialized meaning not based on the literal meaning of the words in it. Figures of speech often provide emphasis, freshness of expression, or clarity. However, clarity may also suffer from their use, as any figure of speech introduces an ambiguity between literal and figurative interpretation." I used italics to make sure it was not understood literaly; however it seems that you don't understand figurative meaning of words. Yotcmdr =talk to the commander= 08:01, 28 June 2009 (UTC)

Holiday change

The song is not there anymore in SWN :S. Did you delete or link it to the wrong place or something?--<font=Comic Sans MS>S3CR3T (tell me a secret.) 02:29, 15 July 2009 (UTC)

It was deleted bby an admin at commons... I'll have to upload it here. Yotcmdr =talk to the commander= 06:27, 15 July 2009 (UTC)
Bad idea - unless you can get permission to use the composition. Why not record a public domain song or even write your own? Analysis Retentivus (talk) 19:54, 15 July 2009 (UTC)
  • Just to say it: No uploads on simple. It will be speedy deleted. And if it was a copyvio and deleted on commons, it can't stay here. Barras (talk) 20:04, 15 July 2009 (UTC)
  • Why can't it stay here? I believe it can, Simple doesn't accept pictures but sound files is another matter. I have uploaded many before. Yotcmdr =talk to the commander= 20:23, 15 July 2009 (UTC)
    • I know, but these files are for articles (spooken articles) and aren't copyvios. If commons say it is a copyvio, so it is a copyvio here, too. Barras (talk) 20:25, 15 July 2009 (UTC)

Dammit I was gonna ask you to sing "Fer Sure" by the Medic Droid :-P --<font=Comic Sans MS>S3CR3T (tell me a secret.) 20:28, 15 July 2009 (UTC)

  • Personally I don't care much about what commons says. We're at simple. Yotcmdr =talk to the commander= 20:30, 15 July 2009 (UTC)
    • If you really want to do a cover version of a copyrighted song - contact the music publisher and negotiate a Digital Licence. Analysis Retentivus (talk) 20:38, 15 July 2009 (UTC)
Please note

It will require a community discussion to permit the uploading of musical public performance files here. Spoken word articles are a different kettle of fish as it is a person who is speaking the GFDL/CC-BY-SA words on a WP article and hence they are the original recording artist and can license their own work for inclusion here. Recording a cover version of a song for private, non-public performance is legal in the UK, however recording a cover version of a copyrighted work (aka, the lyrics of a copyrighted song) and releasing it for public performance (aka, on the Internet) is not legal unless one has obtained a mechanical license. Such a license can be obtained for a fee from the Harry Fox Agency, who are considered world-leading experts in digital rights management; specifically from there low unit sales arm http://www.songfile.com/. I think a mechanical license is required even where no charge is made for the derivative work. fr33kman talk 21:05, 15 July 2009 (UTC)

On another note

I'm issuing a polite caution about the behavior and tone of this discussion to all involved. Please discuss the issue without resort to emotional language. Thank you. fr33kman talk 21:05, 15 July 2009 (UTC)

Last time I checked WP:EMOTIONAL LANGUAGE did not exist. Promethean (talk) 21:12, 15 July 2009 (UTC)
Behaviour issues are at the discretion of an admin. Disruption of the project can bring about admin action. fr33kman talk 21:20, 15 July 2009 (UTC)
Can you all stop flooding my user page with things please. Remember I'm an admin too, and I don't want to have to start blocking people because of harassement :D. Yotcmdr =talk to the commander= 21:22, 15 July 2009 (UTC)
