Barnstar

Congratulations: You have been given a Barnstar!

Thank you for all your hard work reverting vandalism. I really appreciate it. Please keep this good work up and you can be a rollbacker. --~ curtaintoad ~~ talk ~ 09:47, 27 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

Rollback

I have given you rollback rights for the Simple English Wikipedia. This should help in cleaning up vandalism. Please use it with care, and if you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask.--Peterdownunder (talk) 01:34, 30 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

US county articles

Thanks for these new articles. Please take a look at the changes I just made to Adams County, Indiana and Allen County, Indiana to see the right way to code a reused reference and a better way to code a URL with a description. Thanks! --Auntof6 (talk) 04:23, 3 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

Thanks, I will incorporate it into the further ones. Enfcer (talk) 04:27, 3 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

Contratiction

It doesn't really contradict itself. In one it says rough consensus and in the other it says generally. The idea being that the crat has discretion to close it as successful if it is below 75% or unsuccessful if it is above 75% in exceptional circumstances. We call it 'Crat Discression. But its rare that either situation happens. Almost always if it is above it passes and if it is below it does not. -DJSasso (talk) 13:52, 4 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

HM Prison Wakefield

I saw that you undid the IP editor's changes, then changed your mind and put them back. I have removed them again because they are unsimplified from the enwiki article. Just thought I'd let you know. --Auntof6 (talk) 02:15, 18 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for letting me know. I was second quessing myself and figured I would put it back and err on the side of caution, and let someone else make the final call on it. Enfcer (talk) 04:29, 18 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hello Enfcer,

I've just right now closed your RfA as successful and granted you the mop. Congratulations! Please send me a mail so I've a confirmed mail address and can add you to our admin mailinglist. Also, please feel free to poke me on IRC to get access to our admin channel and also to the global adminship. Take care with the new responsibility and as always, don't delete the Main Page! ;-) -Barras talk 07:50, 12 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

Deletion of Pages

Hi Enfcer, I have some concerns on the deletion of the page of Thomson MRT Line, Jurong Region MRT Line, and Cross Island Line, about the complexity from another Wikipedia, as would like to revise it once more.--Yosefshlomo (talk) 05:18, 15 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

Those 3 have been deleted multiple times for complexity. And since they are based on another wiki's version without attribution to that article that is just one of a couple of delete reasons that they could have been deleted under. You may want to completely re-write them to comply with the rules here. Enfcer (talk) 05:42, 15 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

Revdel

Be careful with Revdel. It should only be used very sparingly. Most vandalism doesn't qualify to use it. Basically it is for something that is at or almost at the level of needing to be oversighted. Just saying someone (without a last name) smells bad wouldn't be revdel worthy. Just revert. Otherwise good work :) -DJSasso (talk) 16:21, 15 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

Thanks. I was looking at some of those more on the lines of CyberBulling, and thats why I RevDel, but I am still getting my feet wet as an Admin and learning everyday with it, part of the reason I made sure and sent that to OS, for a double check, and guidance . Enfcer (talk) 16:33, 15 April 2014 (UTC)Reply
I can definitely see where you might think it was cyberbullying. But this is pretty run of the mill vandalism. We see alot of this sort of thing. Unless there is identifying information about the target such as a last name its probably not worth the revdel but I can see why you might think so. Definitely a judgement call. I was only really letting you know in case you thought you needed to do it on all such vandalism. :) As for oversight, without personal information being disclosed its hard to say its libel so wouldn't qualify for oversight. That all being said I just got your email after I left this so wasn't aware you asked for help on that list. That was definitely a good way to go as well. :) -DJSasso (talk) 16:47, 15 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

Deleting templates

Are you planning to go back and delete the subpages (doc, etc.) of the templates you deleted? At least one of them had a doc page, and there could be other kinds of subpages like sandboxes and subroutine-type pages. Let me know if you'd like help looking for those. --Auntof6 (talk) 02:16, 25 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

Actually I had look at the what links here earlier before the closing time, and had forgotten the one had a doc page. When I went back and looked at what links here on those templates, the only thing I saw other then the RfD listings and the one doc page, was some links to user pages, and archives. Do I need to do anything else with them, or do I need to look at something else? Enfcer (talk) 02:28, 25 April 2014 (UTC)Reply
I have since deleted the doc page, if there is anything else I have missed let me know. I am still learning so I am bound to miss things here or there. Thanks for the reminder on the doc page. Enfcer (talk) 02:52, 25 April 2014 (UTC)Reply
I think you got them all now. We just have to remember to check for subpages (doc pages, sandboxes, subroutines, whatever) -- you can't necessarily find those by looking at what links to the template. The thing I keep forgetting is to delete talk pages: you'd think that would be easy since the software pops up and tells you there's a talk page if there is one! I don't think you need to do anything with the links on user pages or in archives. --Auntof6 (talk) 03:27, 25 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

Brandon Q Richardson

Hey, where did you find the info about this article having been created and deleted before? I couldn't find it when I looked. --Auntof6 (talk) 21:03, 26 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

I referenced it from Wikipedia:Requests for deletion/Requests/2014/Brandon Richardson (actor) and the Notice Board comments on Wikipedia:Administrators'_noticeboard#Brandon_Richardson_.28actor.29.2FBrandon_Richardson.2F.2FBrandon_Q._Richardson. Since this all stems from the base user name on the RfD. Enfcer (talk) 21:54, 26 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

Rollback

Just to clarify, giving rollback to users who have it elsewhere is not automatic. The policy says "Once autoconfirmed, admins/rollbackers from other projects can be granted rollback without these requirements" (italics mine). The right certainly can be granted to such people based solely on them having it elsewhere, but it doesn't have to be. I'm not disagreeing with your action, though! --Auntof6 (talk) 05:13, 1 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

I understand. I was just pointing to reasons why I approved without going into great detail. I do go through the users recent history to check to see if they understand the types of reverts. I did notice I made a small oops. In my change summary I listed RfA instead of RfP. Should I remove and re add the right to change the summary or will that be understood and implied? Enfcer (talk) 05:44, 1 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

Creating cleanup cats

Thanks for creating Category:Pages needing to be simplified from May 2014. For reasons I have not researched, not all of our cleanup categories can be created with just "{{MonthlyCleanupCat}}". Creating this one that way put it in some categories we don't use. I changed it to be like the category for last month, and now it looks OK.

I never remember which ones of these are done which way, so here's what I do: I edit the category with the template mentioned above, then preview it to see if it looks right, including what categories it's in. If it doesn't look right, I look at how a previous similar category was done and set it up that way. Hope that helps. --Auntof6 (talk) 02:42, 7 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

I did not realize there were different templates. I had check the previous month on a couple of them and it was the "{{MonthlyCleanupCat}}". After a couple of them I was going on that all of them were the same. Thanks for the information, I will look more closely at them on the newer ones I create. Enfcer (talk) 02:53, 7 May 2014 (UTC)Reply
I think those actually are the same template, one is just a redirect. I think the issue is that some categories need to have parameters specified, whereas most don't need them. --Auntof6 (talk) 03:06, 7 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

Minor?

Minor? --AmaryllisGardener talk 22:27, 23 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

I am guessing you are referring to the listing the change on the talk page as minor. I have it set as a default for me since most of my edits are vandal reverts, and by the very definition is classified as a minor edit. Now I will admit there has been times I have forgotten to take that flag off, like that case, since I don't normally have to worry with it while reverting, and having a screaming child when you hit the enter key doesn't help either. Enfcer (talk) 22:43, 23 May 2014 (UTC)Reply
"and having a screaming child when you hit the enter key doesn't help either" Huh? What are you referring to? --AmaryllisGardener talk 00:06, 24 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

I'm really irritated with Chinese man 38202. He's reverting my good edits. I'm reverting his vandalism and he reverts them. Plus he wrote on my talk page that I'm the one vandalizing the articles and is threating to block me. Please I think a longer block on this user is necessary. Warn?

Is there any special way of warning someone who is vandalizing? This https://simple.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk:Donald_Duck_and_Mickey_Mouse&diff=4867244&oldid=4867240 - well, it was a kind of warning, but useer removed it. --Hafspajen (talk) 22:53, 16 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

@Hafspajen:You can look at wp:UW or use Twinkle or such add-ons they tend to have those templates pre-loaded, but like I said on the VIP, with how fast the edits were coming I think it wouldn't have done any good, and I think the user knew what he was doing anyway, so the block was protective in nature to the wiki. -- Enfcer (talk) 22:58, 16 August 2014 (UTC)Reply
Actually, I think it was possibly somebody from the English Wiki - harassing especially me. That user was blocked several times but creates new socks all the time. --Hafspajen (talk) 23:13, 16 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

do you ever use rollback as a revert tool

Don't you ever use rollback as a revert tool? I notice you keep using twinkle to revert vandalism edits. Why is that? — This unsigned comment was added by September 1988 (talk • changes) on 00:14, 13 November 2014 (UTC).Reply

I do use twinkle a lot. I use it primarily as it gives you 3 options for marking the revert. It also automates the process of popping open the warning screen. When you use rollback it does not give you the option to add your own summary, and you have to go back and open the warning screen. I usually use rollback to clean up vandals after they have been blocked,a s no more warnings are needed, etc. -- Enfcer (talk) 20:42, 13 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

Lists of people by nationality

Hi, Enfcer. Thanks for closing the RfD for the Lists of people by nationality category. You probably didn't notice, but the reason for deletion you used for the articles had the wrong link in it. (The one used for the category looks OK.) As far as I know, there's no way to edit that, so could you restore the articles and then delete them again with a link to the right place? If you aren't sure how to restore deleted pages, I can give you the steps. Thanks in advance -- I know this is a bit of a pain. --Auntof6 (talk) 18:03, 15 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

I see. It might be just me, but when I catch a currently active vandal that has vandalized more than enough times (within such a short period) to get a full set of warnings, I go ahead and block for the same amount of time as if they had been warned. I know that's against what I usually advocate, but when they're vandalizing fast enough I do it anyway. --Auntof6 (talk) 19:58, 9 May 2015 (UTC)Reply

gogo dodo

My edits to https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Arizona_Muse&action=history have been consistently removed as I have apparently got a poor source. I am interested to hear your thoughts on this considering that the NewYork Post a respectable New York newspaper is a poor source. Regardless of its location in the newspaper I claim that the source is valid. Therefore I would like to have gogo dodo's removals reversed. I believe that the article should stand with reference to those articles. Due to the long standing of those articles on the net if they were seen either as false or misleading or indeed erroneous I ma sure that there would of been a law suit for defamation of character which there has not or a removal of the page from the net, therefore the statements made must be considered true and accurate and according to the wikipedia rules one must be allowed to publish facts on people so as long as they are deemed true and coming from a reliable source. Your input on this subject matter is much appreciated

The Blank Page Creator

Hello! I noticed that a few days ago, on User talk:The Blank Page Creator, you revoked talk page access just because it was the editors third declined unblock request. However, I don't think that's completely fair, as this says nothing about a certain number of appeals any editor can file. Also, since the editor did admit to their mistakes and explained why, wouldn't it be okay to unblock them and give them another chance? In this case, they should remain blocked since the username implies vandalism and therefore is a violation of the username policy, but if they change their name, why make life harder on them when they have already confessed? Just some thoughts for you. 107.227.6.193 (talk) 19:40, 24 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

Even if the Block policy does not mention how many unblock requests in a certain amount of time, this many in such short time is considered project disruption, or at least in my opinion. This of course is subject to review by any other admin. -- Enfcer (talk) 02:54, 25 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

Am I missing something?

I saw that you declined the qd on Ethan Suplee with the reason "Notability Claimed by reference to Certain Movies". I was wondering what your thinking was there. Since notability is not inherited (neither in the literal sense of children inheriting it from their parents nor in the figurative sense of being notable by association with something notable), I'm not seeing the notability in this one. Can you enlighten me? --Auntof6 (talk) 00:14, 2 December 2015 (UTC)Reply

Just talk page stalking, but stating you were in a highly notable movie would be claiming you were notable. Remember the barrier to "claiming" notability is very very very low. Even if notability isn't inherited the claim doesn't actually have to prove notability. The QD criteria isn't to proove notability, its to claim they are notable. Essentially to avoid the articles that say "Kevin is an ice hockey player" without saying why they are notable which would be something more like "Kevin is a professional ice hockey player." The second claims they are notable by being a professional (because most professional players are notable) the first only claims they are are a hockey player. In the case of an actor "Joe is an actor" vs "Joe is an actor in Star Wars." One is claiming they are notable because most actors in a major motion picture would be notable the other is just stating they are an actor. -DJSasso (talk) 15:29, 2 December 2015 (UTC)Reply
So we have to know how notable every movie is to judge the notability of an actor? I'm not sure that's reasonable. I also don't agree that being in a notable movie makes you notable. That might be true for the main actors, but most parts in any given movie aren't major parts. --Auntof6 (talk) 15:50, 2 December 2015 (UTC)Reply
Not at all, we just have to see that the article says why the thing is probably notable. Explaining they are in a movie (even an non-notable one) is stating why the editor thinks they are notable. The whole point of that QD is just to avoid article of the type that say "Joe is an actor." There is supposed to be zero judgement of notability in this criteria. We are just trying to make sure the editor is saying why they think the person is notable. -DJSasso (talk) 15:53, 2 December 2015 (UTC)Reply
I see I am late to this party :) . As DJSasso stated, and its my understanding is that if there is a claim of notability even if its not so, that disqualifies it as a delete able article under QD A4. --Enfcer (talk) 21:28, 2 December 2015 (UTC)Reply

I'm no cyberbully

I'm not a cyberbully I'm factually writing about Andrew Vincent who is well known for impersonating Police officers and paramedics. He has a criminal record for obstructing a Police officer, driving on blue lights without lawful authority and impersonating a Police officer. He has also been pulled over and caught impersonating a paramedic but as that is not a crime no further action was taken. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 51.9.194.54 (talkcontribs) 2:40, November 23, 2016 (UTC)

Even if this is true this would be violation of BLP. Either way you added contentious potentially libelous information about a person without proper references, which is just as bad. -- Enfcer (talk) 03:45, 23 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

Time to have a discussion

It is appropriate a this point to expect to have a serious, open, and evenhanded discussion. Where and when will it take place? And please don't tell me that this posting is inappropriate. I have a right to expect to communicate and respond to postings. Zedshort (talk) 15:22, 30 December 2016 (UTC)Reply

The discussion you are referring to all started with the conversation that got moved here to write Simple English pages. My biggest concern is with your snarky comments like "I am less then impressed", and other derogatory comments about editors. No indeed asking where to have a conversation is not inappropriate, but without attitude, and without negativity in any of that conversation, which you had introduced in the above listed talk page, and on personal talk pages. If the conversation you are looking for is about how those pages are written, please continue it on the talk page listed above. If it is about expectations here on simple, please start a conversation on Simple Talk, that way all active editors will be more likely to see it, and contribute to the conversation in a productive fashion. -- Enfcer (talk) 15:35, 30 December 2016 (UTC)Reply
If you are expecting obsequious behavior from me you won't find it. You have threatened to block me. Please be very specific about all your "concerns" or withdraw your threat. What deragatory comments are you refering to? When another edior posts a semi-official notice (threat) on my talk page I have every reason to say I am not impressed with such behavior, as I am not. If people want to talk to me then they should do so in a direct and honest fashion and not waste time with placards and such which in my opinion appear as wikipedias "middle fingers" in the face of other editors. If they can't express themselves in their own words then they should not post such rot. My attitude is appropriate and your interpretation of my responses are highly subjective. When people talk about me on their talk pages I have a right to reply. Zedshort (talk) 16:27, 30 December 2016 (UTC)Reply
This to me appears to be an attempt to draw me into a long debate over issues, that have been highlighted, by other editors, and admins. My statement on your talk page, stated "Your actions can result in sanctions". I did not say anything about blocking. The template is a generic form and said "You may be blocked..." You refer to them as the wikipedia middle finger. They are in place by community consensus, therefore used in that fashion. Your comment about "I am less then impressed" is in this editors opinion the same middle finger, only being used by you. I will not go any further on this matter, as I am adhering to standard practice, and current community standards. Any further discussion of this will need to take place on a more appropriate forum, ie Simple Talk. -- Enfcer (talk) 20:01, 30 December 2016 (UTC)Reply

Emma Morano protection

Good mornings from Chicago! It's been a tedious task at reverting edits from newly registered users or from unregistered users at Emma Morano's article and I am not the only one reverting the edits constantly, is there a way Morano could qualify for a temporary page protection? Thank you for your time. --TDKR Chicago 101 (talk) 19:25, 26 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

@TDKR Chicago 101: - Most are minor problem edits, but by the same or similar IP range. Not sure where the named editors are from, but most are now autoconfirmed. I did give it semi-protection for a month, to see if that helps. -- Enfcer (talk) 19:42, 26 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

Declines

Hello. The title of WWE World Heavyweight Championship is wrong. The championship is called only "WWE Championship" as you can see here. I want to move it to the correct title, but I can't if the page is not deleted. WWE Raw Tag Team Championship has been "moved" manually, which is not right. I want to move correcty WWE Tag Team Championship to WWE Raw Tag Team Championship since it is the right name of the championship, but I can't if the page is not deleted. Pedrohoneto (talk) 20:37, 26 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

Major move changes should be discussed on the talk page of the respective pages, that is the biggest reason, I declined them. Not sure if other admins are looking at it the same way I am. -- Enfcer (talk) 01:20, 1 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

Keep an eye out

There has been a mishap at the 89th Academy Awards after Warren Beatty mistakenly announced La La Land as the winner for Best Picture when he was given the wrong envelope. There has been many edits mocking Beatty at the English Wikipedia for a blunder that was not his fault, just a heads up that might happen at the article here at Simple. I'll also keep a heads up. --TDKR Chicago 101 (talk) 05:54, 27 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

reverting edits

Hi, Enfcer. I notice that you usually use the Twinkle option to revert other users' edits. But sometimes you use rollback to revert edits from certain users. Why is that? Angela Maureen (talk) 22:55, 3 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

@September 1988:Usually use Twinkle so that I get the User Talk page to open up, and issue warnings. Other times, I use the rollback if its a vandalism case that I am cleaning up and do not need to give individual warnings. Other times I use the undo mostly when my Twinkle didn't load properly. -- Enfcer (talk) 23:20, 3 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

Rfd

Not that big a deal, but generally no comments is a delete on simple.wiki. The reason being that we use Rfd to also act like prod on en.wiki which is if no one objects in 7 days it is deleted. -DJSasso (talk) 15:54, 26 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

Don't think I ever knew that, or heard it. Good to know, will handle those that way in the future. -- Enfcer (talk) 00:06, 27 July 2017 (UTC)Reply
(talk page stalker) I don't think I knew that, either. I've seen no-vote RFDs closed as "keep -- no consensus to delete". Not sure we should close RFDs based on one person's request. If it needs discussion, there should be discussion. --Auntof6 (talk) 00:20, 27 July 2017 (UTC)Reply
It's been the result of every discussion to create prod here. It always ends up that we just send them to Rfd instead with the idea that we treat articles there the same way. Basically if there is no objection then it didn't need discussion as it was uncontroversial. En.wiki actually does this as well but they call a delete at Afd with no discussion a "soft delete" and it can be automatically recreated upon objection just like a prod can. -DJSasso (talk) 11:19, 27 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

Violet Brown Protection

Hey Enfcer! I was wondering if there is a way to implement protection for Violet Brown as it has a large history of unidentified user edits which results in vandalism and you can see from the users who have undone the edits, it is getting annoying and very unproductive. Thank you very much. --TDKR Chicago 101 (talk) 03:20, 20 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

@TDKR Chicago 101: that was the first vandalism in almost a month. It looks like it could have been protected back in September, but would be questionable now. The IP in question, with the other edits, probably could have been blocked at the time, but it would only be punitive now, versus protection. I will add this to my watch list, and if we have another string of vandals like we did in September, then I can see it would probably need protection, but it is always preferred to block offenders first, if possible. -- Enfcer (talk) 22:50, 20 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Katy Perry revert

Hey Enfcer: The October 25, 1984 date of birth was correct. What was the revert for? Angela Maureen (talk) 23:22, 20 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

@September 1988: The IP that had changed that, had changed several other articles, with bad information. If that was correct, feel free to change it back, but the revert, was due to all the other edits were not correct by that user, and it was believed to be a vandalism change, and done as a mass revert, of that editors edits. --Enfcer (talk) 23:25, 20 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

cyberbullying warning

I think an only warning should have been given to the editors who might have cyber-bullied on Arrogance. Cyber bullying is very serious, 'cause it can get Wikipedia users in big trouble. Angela Maureen (talk) 00:23, 8 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

@September 1988: The template I used is a Single Warning template. Which means essentially that it is that users only warning , then they can be blocked. Our guidelines Wikipedia:Cyberbullying although not an official policy, even states Admins can block on the second offense. Also depending on the severity of the offense, we can block on first offense, if it is warranted. The IP in question, did not return to a school based IP, but I felt it was possibly cyberbullying, and gave the single warning level template, and revision deleted the comment. I have and do take cyberbullying very seriously, and take actions, as allowed by the community per our guidelines, and policies. -- Enfcer (talk) 02:15, 8 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

Done That one is a little thinner grounds in my opinion, but somewhat falls into the offensive category. I have RevDel'ed it, but not 100% sure on that one. Would fall under "that has little/no encyclopedic or project value" of the RD policy --Enfcer (talk) 23:06, 13 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
Yeah. It's a little less offensive, but I'm sure community consensus would reflect it falls under that section of the revdel policy. Due to the current discussion on AN, I'm not going to request revdel on any of that IP's offensive contribs until community consensus is achieved, but as the comments on my talk page were both extremely offensive and on my talk page, I thought it fit to request revision deletion. Hi, I took all of those association articles to RfD

I only created the one discussion section though. I hope that is OK. I didn't want to clog everything up. These days I try to patrol New Pages a fair amount and I know I tend to tag QD pretty easily, but I always consider them a request for QD so someone else has a check on me going too far. Basically, just trying to keep the quality high. Re North Jutland, I know that regions etc are generally notable, so yes for Jutland, but looking around it seems North Denmark is the accepted name. Thanks for being an admin! Gotanda (talk) 02:36, 21 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

@Gotanda: I just felt there were some veiled attempts to indicate notability, namely the number of members, and their underlying goals to promote safety, so I felt it was better to decline and let RfD decide. -- Enfcer (talk) 16:38, 21 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

Rollback

When do you think would be an appropriate time to request for rollback again? IWI (chat) 21:37, 5 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

@ImprovedWikiImprovment: Instead of giving you a timeline, let me point out a couple of concerns, that will likely hold you back from getting the rights. If you work on these, this will help your chances, but I can not guarantee myself or other Admin's will grant them afterwards. You can apply for them again at anytime.
  • You make reverts, and inconsistently provide warnings, or other explanations, on a regular basis.
  • When making requests to VIP, its ok to give a rationale for the block, but do not suggest what that block should be.
    • A recent one of yours suggested an Indef. While the edits were close together, you had only given 1 warning. It is always best to give multiple warnings as some Admins prefer to see them. -- Enfcer (talk) 01:20, 6 January 2019 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for your comments, they are appreciated, I will keep them in mind in the future. IWI (chat) 13:18, 6 January 2019 (UTC)Reply
If I have reverted (obviously) good faith changes, wouldn’t it be more appropriate to not leave a warning? IWI (chat) 14:54, 6 January 2019 (UTC)Reply
Good Faith Reverts should have some kind of comments in the summary explaining the revert. Otherwise it could lead them to add them back then you start getting into a 3RR situation. -- Enfcer (talk) 15:58, 6 January 2019 (UTC)Reply
That's what I thought. I see a lot of editors (not sure whether I saw it on this wiki) with an explanation of simply "reverted good faith edits by...", which I have always been against. In my recent revert, I explained it and this is something I usually try to do upon seeing good faith and will ensure I do in the future. Anyway, I won't use up any more of your time; thank you for taking interest in what I say; it shows that you are clearly a great admin/'crat :). IWI (chat) 17:13, 6 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

Recent block

In my opinion, the indef of Dalto SAUROUS was overkill. Their first edit was vandalism, but the others, if you look at them, could have been in good faith. IWI (chat) 00:27, 26 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

@ImprovedWikiImprovment: The first edit was Vandalism within moments of the account being created and the next 2 were un-constructive. So they are clearly not here to contribute. If they would like to request an Unblock or if another admin would like to review it they can, but as of right now they haven't requested an Unblock and are likely one of our LTA's. -- Enfcer (talk) 00:36, 26 January 2019 (UTC)Reply
(talk page stalker) @ImprovedWikiImprovment: After reading this message, I took a moment to review this account's activity. While there will always be differing opinions, in this instance, I support the block. While the account made two edits that were not obvious vandalism, the edits were unconstructive at best. When you consider the account's activities as a whole, it becomes clear to me the account was NOTHERE to contribute, and likely an LTA. That being said, the editor behind the account can still request {{unblock}} and provide a justification or explanation for their actions. If they choose to do so, then we can cross that bridge. I truly thank you for being watchful and voicing your concerns. Keep up the great work! Operator873talkconnect 01:49, 26 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

Your note at User talk:86.156.47.172

I'm a little confused by what you said to this user and the reason you specified for blocking. The three-revert rule is invoked if an individual editor does three reverts to a page within 24 hours. It's not three reverts total, it's three by the same editor. This editor only did two. Am I missing something? We certainly have discretion to block anyway, but we can't say it's because of 3RR. --Auntof6 (talk) 00:04, 16 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

I may have mis-quoted the 3rr policy. But I looked at the users edits xwiki, and he was engaged in an edit war of sorts. On 3 separate wikis including ours, he was vandalising pages, and had reverted those changes. So while it doesn't meet the letter of the policy, it does meet the spirit of it. That is to stop behavior that is disruptive and or damaging. Should I have just blocked them for xwiki vandalism that they brought here, sure. End result would still be the same. A block to stop the disruption. -- Enfcer (talk) 00:46, 16 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

Adolf Anderssen

Could you extend the length of the semiprotection of Adolf Anderssen? It has been the target of a (banned) editor who is obsessed on the topic for some time already. Thanks!

The last protection was for a month, and was not vandalized for 3 months after the end of that protection. I will keep an eye on it, and if after the week is up, it appears to be getting vandalized again, I will put a lengthy Protection on it. -- Enfcer (talk) 17:03, 2 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
