Welcome change

I am referring to the recent welcome you made to a user, using the welcomeg template. I would like to inform you that we only welcome users which have made at least one edit to to the Wikipedia mainspace. No need to welcome users which have not done anything in future. Minor or Prime 11:37, 15 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Which user? I didn't know I'd welcomed anyone who hadn't made any contributions. The Flying Spaghetti Monster! 11:40, 15 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
You did this here. Minor or Prime 11:42, 15 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

He had made one edit :D But I take your point, I won't be so hasty to welcome people in the future. Cheers. The Flying Spaghetti Monster! 11:44, 15 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Really? I didn't notice. Sorry. 11:53, 15 August 2008 (UTC)
Thats fine, I guess one edit isn't worth a welcome anyway. The Flying Spaghetti Monster! 12:00, 15 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

VGA change

I have given you a few comments about the VGA you wrote, go check it out. By the way, your redirect should not be there, Venus is also the name of a few other things, take a look at this. I'll try to take it out if I can. Minor or Prime 09:22, 19 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Okay! Are you going to try to create another VGA? Minor or Prime 09:29, 19 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Yes im trying to get all the planets to VGA by the end of this month, thats my goal anyway. Can you remove the quick delete now? Cheers. The Flying Spaghetti Monster! 09:31, 19 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Done You could have done so yourself anyway. Minor or Prime 09:32, 19 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
Oh, I didn't know you could remove quick delete tags, I thought I might get in trouble... I suppose since I had a valid reason. Anyway thanks for the tip. The Flying Spaghetti Monster! 09:33, 19 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Fact check change

The Millions stated in the Neopets article would not be hard to find a fact for but there would be some issues. Mainly, how many millions do you want to prove? I can get references for 25 (2005) 35, and 60million fairly easily without needed to even bother with checking their site's claim of over 160 million accounts (though multiple accounts per user are not rare). The bare statement that there are "millions" is pretty much an acceptable fact given the actual numbers are a degree or two of magnitude beyond that. Millions is actually a very conservative generalization. -- Creol(talk) 19:35, 20 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Any of those will do. It's just I had never heard of the site and assumed, (apparently wrongly) that it wouldn't have many users. I guess I shouldn't make assumptions but I still think that a statement of numbers of users generally should have a source. The Flying Spaghetti Monster! 19:38, 20 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Radish change

When you create an article, like Radish, don't forget to add IW links to both that article and to add simple:example to the ENWP article. --Gwib -(talk)- 20:20, 20 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Sorry I just forgot. I usually always do add them. Cheers for the reminder. The Flying Spaghetti Monster! 20:22, 20 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

90.210.51.100 change

Is this your IP as it has just continued editing your user pages from where you left off. Your computer may have accidentally logged you out if you closed a window or something. If it is you, please log in again so as not to confuse people.

Also, well done for creating BBC Four. I'm slowing going through the articles in the BBC box - I've now created about nine of them, so nearly halfway there :) Thanks, - tholly --Turnip-- 21:32, 21 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Yes it was me but I don't like my user space edit count getting too high so I logged out for a minute. ( ; F S M 21:33, 21 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Oh, OK. You're mainspace is really good though, at 60%. If you used the show preview button, you could do it in one edit which would hardly make a difference - you did the first two before logging out! That's what I do. - tholly --Turnip-- 21:38, 21 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
Usually I miss at least one thing when I preview, which I did again just then. F S M 21:40, 21 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
Beat me to that quick delete as well.. grrr. F S M 21:42, 21 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
Sorry :( I think the QD's actually an A4 if you look at it, although I first did a G1. - tholly --Turnip-- 21:44, 21 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

(unindenting) It's cool. I just want to get more participation in wiki areas like QD and RfD, but its good, don't feel you need to leave anything for me. F S M 21:46, 21 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Flat Earth change

Hello The Flying Spaghetti Monster,

my English isn't the best, so I ask you because you are working on "the world". Would it be possible for you throwing a short look on Flat Earth. Greetings from North Tyrol Joe--Uptojoe (talk) 17:33, 25 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Sure I will give it a look over in a bit, when I have checked my RfA. By the way your English isn't that bad! One tip 'you throwing a short look' should be 'you to throw or to have a short look. Cheers. F S M 20:11, 25 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thank you. Greetings from j--Uptojoe (talk) 05:14, 27 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Human change

Oh.... I thought that I'd try to bring it up to scratch. It has quite a lot of problems. I'll just have to check my edits for consistency before I leave it. Amandajm (talk) 12:41, 27 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

You can carry on, just notify people what you did/intend to do beforehand. It could affect votes if things change quickly. F S M 12:42, 27 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

My Retirement change

I have unretired.Just thought I should tell you. StaticFalcon -=Electrify My Thoughts=- 18:17, Saturday August 30 2008 (UTC)

Glad your back, but don't retire again... it robs some of the impact when it happens so much. FSM Noodly?
I just felt that wikipedia didn't trust me but now I'll try to become an admin sometime in the near future or not. StaticFalcon -=Electrify My Thoughts=- 18:37, Saturday August 30 2008 (UTC)
You should try again but leave it a few months... get some more mainspace (article) edits as well. Gwib said I didn't have enough and I had six hundred! FSM Noodly? 18:39, 30 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
Heh, doesn't matter how many mainspace edits you have, its quality that matters. I have over 4000 mianspace edits (I believe) and I do my best to work for quality edits. Two of my most quality articles I've worked on are baseball uniform and Green Day. Remember, quality over quantity. -- RyanCross (talk) 18:43, 30 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

(edit conflict)(unindenting) Yes but Static has only 66 mainspace edits if I remember rightly. Criteria for Adminship requires over 300 I think. FSM Noodly?

REALLY? But I don't think I could make 600 in a few months. Static -=Electrify My Thoughts=- 18:44, Saturday August 30 2008 (UTC)
Nope, I don't think it mentions that at all. There's no particular number is all it says. And I've seen the new message bar appear about 5 times in the last minute... -- RyanCross (talk) 18:48, 30 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
I actually have 124 mainspace edits. Static -=Electrify My Thoughts=- 18:50, Saturday August 30 2008 (UTC)
Thats a bit better. You can make loads if you try hard, theres no shortage of stuff to do here. FSM Noodly? 18:51, 30 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
I'll try but I don't think I'll ever make it to admin status. Static -=Electrify My Thoughts=- 18:57, Saturday August 30 2008 (UTC)

Interwikis change

Dont get your point... thats how you spell his name... FSM Noodly? 23:08, 30 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
Look at the title of the message... --Gwib -(talk)- 23:13, 30 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
Yes, I added an En interwiki. You asked me to add them when I make a new article. (I'm sorry but I'm really not getting yopu here, I added an interwiki whats the problem?) FSM Noodly? 23:14, 30 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
I tried to be subtle, but apparently you need more than that. Add ALL interwiki links! ALL. Don't let bots fix your mistakes. --Gwib -(talk)- 20:34, 31 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

(unindenting) All interwiki links? That would take ages. How do I know what Lleyton Hewitt is in Russian? If I put two or three then bots will add the rest. What does it matter? FSM Noodly? 20:39, 31 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Ah, if you didn't know how to get the interwiki links, then I'm sorry for being so blunt. So, for future reference:
 1. Go to the ENWP article
 2. Copy-paste the links from there (bots work faster over there)
 3. Add (on the ENWP article), simple:article so that they have a link to it from there
 4. Add (on the SEWP article), en:article so that we have a link to it from here
I hope that cleared things up. Bot edits to articles should be avoided were possible, and it doesn't take long to get the links from the ENWP article. --Gwib -(talk)- 20:45, 31 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
Oh ok. Cheers for the tip. I do add simple interwikis to En when I'm done but I didn't think of copy/pasting them all in reverse. FSM Noodly? 20:55, 31 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hi, I noticed you welcomed a user using T:Welcome, and then warned him about complexity. Here's a few thingd you may already know, but there's no harm saying, is there?

There's a load of user warnings you can use, have a look at the table. It saves you having to type everything out, and it's standardised so that you don't accidentally inflame the situation by choosing the wrong words,  .

The one you're interested in is probably uw-simple, but uw-newarticle is pretty useful as well. Hope this helps, mC8 12:53, 2 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Oh, and if you're welcoming an IP, use anon. mc8 12:54, 2 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
I know about user warnings, its just sometimes to be more personal I like to write things myself. I do usually use the templates though. Cheers anyway. FSM Noodly? 12:55, 2 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
Actually the anon one I didn't know, cheers. :D! FSM Noodly? 12:56, 2 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
By the way, en:Principality of Sealand is the way that is probably better to do... Note the first colon; it doesn't work otherwise. Well, it does, but it makes it into an interwiki link and puts the link in the sidebar. There's also interproject links such as commons:User:Microchip08 and q:Main Page. Unfortunately, both have stopped since the final warning was given; they have therefore not been blocked.--Eptalon (talk) 13:28, 4 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

The IP definetly vandalised 4 minutes after I gave the final warning and The names user about 30 seconds after. But they both did. Look at the time I left the final warnings to see. FSM Noodly? 13:34, 4 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
Sorry, I accidentally blocked the user name, but reverted now. To TFSM, try to fix in another warning, before the final one. One warning really isn't enough, so can you generally give another? Thanks -- American Eagle (talk) 16:56, 4 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Re:Bot change

Hey, i moved it here as it's not really ST material ;).

If you want some help, just ask. It really depends on what you want it to do and if you know any programming languages. Some are simple, such as those that use Python, others not so simple!

Thanks,

BG7even 20:04, 20 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

I have almost no-knowledge of programming but when it comes to computers I learn quickly. Something simple would be good, ie a simple task such as adding interwikis. FSM Noodly? 20:06, 20 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
Ok, for simple tasks such as that you can use the Pywikipedia framework. It's very simple to use. BUT: We have already many IW bots here - perhaps something else would be better?
Thanks,
BG7even 20:12, 20 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
I don't want to make a bot here, I just want to learn the general principles for if I ever do. Cheers for offering to help anyway. FSM Noodly? 20:15, 20 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
Ok, well if you ever want help in the future, let me know. Just so you know, pywikipedia will only work on WMF wikis and certain non-wmf wikis. Or you could just learn PHP/Perl/Python or similar (or even C#, C++!). Thanks, BG7even 20:17, 20 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

RFa change

I have closed your RfA for further voting. As this is certainly not a simple pass/fail situation, the final results may take a little longer to than usual to publish. (19-0 is easy, 11-8 with a lack of discussion from supporters and questionable situtations from opposers is not so easy). While not mandatory, I have defered to Eptalon on final judgement. Number wise it fails, at anywhere between 45% and 64% depending on how the closing date/time is determined but there are issues and possible ways that it could be resolved in favor of a support which could take a little longer than usual to determine. Eptalon will make the final determintion on the matter and let us all know. -- Creol(talk) 05:01, 21 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

As a concerned member of the Simple Wikipedia community, I believe that User: Homer Simpson should be blocked for spreading inappropriate pop ups and messages, (even I was a victim of his messages). Hi, I have found your name on the project page User:A Link to the Past/WikiProject Video games. I have an interest in this topic myself and have done much work on wiki articles related to video games so I have added my name to the list and I have started a vote on Wikipedia:Simple talk to have the project approved and moved out to its proper place WP:Video games. I am announcing this to all members and asking you to come and vote your support if possible. G Luck ~ R.T.G 02:38, 22 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Proposition change

Hello FSM,

Just an idea, instead of testing the tools on wiki, your welcome to pop over to my Test wiki and do it there.

Thanks,

Hi. Sorry for using the word "stupid". I guess it was a bit... well, stupid! I was just in an awful mood at that time. It shouldn't happen again. Yotcmdr =talk to the commander= 23:18, 29 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

World War I change

I was AGF on that edit, I couldnt find anything on Google about it. Thanks. --  Da Punk '95  talk  19:57, 30 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thats ok, I know a bit about WWII and I know Hitler never served in it so he couldnt have been shot as a soldier.. FSM Noodly? 20:16, 30 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
FYI he did serve in a war, but WWI, not WWII. He was hospitalised after being gassed and is described as "screaming into his pillow" after finding out Germany had surrendered. --Gwib -(talk)- 20:24, 30 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

DYK project member review sought change

Hi, following some discussion which has now died down I have proposed some rules for DYK which refine those we already had and are based on our recent experiences and the discussion. As a member of the DYK project, could you please have a look at Wikipedia talk:Did you know#Proposed rules and give your comments. Thanks Matilda (talk) 23:41, 10 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

I would like to again see the electronic cigarette page undeleted as they are a currently a hot topic among cigarette smokers, traders, world governments and health bodies like WHO etc. as the electronic page was deleted, when someone searches for that term they are sent to a page describing an E-cigarette. "E-cigarette" is actually a trade mark for cixi e-cig group as is e-cig and others though due to common use, their trade marks have entered the public domain to some extent and are in the process of being the victim of "genericide".

There are at least a dozen factories in china who are now making electronic cigarettes and well over a hundred different brands world wide. there are also many forums and groups dedicated them. WHO is to release some recommendations for the regulation of them soon and their meeting in durban South africa is to discuss them this week.

Merry Christmas! change

Neurodegenerative diseases change

Do you write spatz-Disease, is it right? ? "Hallervorden Spatz disease" or HSD is better --Penarc (talk) 18:12, 1 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Ok - you can change it if you want! I know very little about it except what I recently read on the En article, so... FSM Noodly? 21:36, 2 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Very notable, just needed wiki formatting and expansion - no need to QD. For proof it's notable see - [2] FSM Noodly? 20:42, 7 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Color of the day (police)) change

Hi, I've fixed all the redlinks in the article. Could you review it and see if it meets your standards for support now? It is much more than the minimum 3.5kB in size which is the criterion for GA so I think it now more than meets all the criteria. Cheers fr33kman talk 04:56, 9 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Hi, TRM added a picture to the article. Could you see if the article is now in a state that you could approve it? Thanks fr33kman talk 19:59, 12 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Admin mailing list change

I've attempted to invite you to the admin mailing list after it was discovered that several people had been missed off after passing their RfAs. However, you have disabled user-to-user email - all admins must have an email account enabled, and regularly check it. Please enable your email so we can contact you :) Archer7 - talk 16:48, 22 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

I wasn't aware I had disabled it and I thought I was already on the admins mailing list, I have several in my inbox..... FSM Noodly? 18:15, 24 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
OK, that's fine, there were a couple of email addresses I couldn't recognise. It was just an email to double-check :) Archer7 - talk 19:54, 24 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
