I think this is a possible QD A4 case but an IP editor is repeating QD tag removal. There are many stuff not related to the subject and the statements at here should not be counted as claims of notability for the page's subject. Please have a look at this page. Please switch between Template:Poland squad 2018 FIFA World Cup and Template:Poland squad 2022 FIFA World Cup
The author put 2018 squad on 2022 template, 2022 squad on 2018 template, an exchange is needed between them. MathXplore (talk) 07:19, 14 September 2023 (UTC)
- @MathXplore: Done, but since they had no meaningful history I just edited them to switch the content. -- Auntof6 (talk) 08:38, 14 September 2023 (UTC)
- I was expecting the usage of supress-redirect, but thank you very much. MathXplore (talk) 08:39, 14 September 2023 (UTC)
- In the move process? To do it that way, I would have had to move 2018 to a dummy name, 2022 to 2018, then the dummy name to 2022 (or start with 2022 instead, but you get the idea) -- unless there a procedure I'm not aware of to switch names. If they had had any history that needed preserving I would have done that, but the only history was the creation and they were created at the same time. -- Auntof6 (talk) 09:01, 14 September 2023 (UTC)

Template:Infobox Christian denomination
{{Infobox Christian denomination}} should be moved to {{Infobox religion}}. I recently got it moved on enwiki because it is used for many non-Christian religions also. The current version of the template should be imported from en:Template:Infobox religion and the doc page should be updated too. Kk.urban (talk) 17:36, 14 September 2023 (UTC)

RfDs with no votes
I saw some people say that RfDs get closed as delete if there are no votes. Is this written anywhere? Because some RfDs with no votes were recently closed as Keep: no consensus. Kk.urban (talk) 02:54, 15 September 2023 (UTC)
- I know that they can be soft-closed as delete, with the proviso that they would deleted restored without question upon request. I don't know that there's anything written about it one way or the other. Maybe it's in an enwiki guideline that we follow here? -- Auntof6 (talk) 02:58, 15 September 2023 (UTC)
- So the curiosity has got the better of me and I was intrigued to know as to why RFDS weren't being soft deleted, Turns out this is partly the reason why - Both articles aren't even at EN so I've renominated those,
- To my knowledge there is nothing in writing at EN that says "RfDs with no votes get deleted" but yes 9 times out of 10 (as Aof6 notes) they all get en:WP:SOFTDELETED, It basically lies at the admins discretion. –Davey2010Talk 16:23, 15 September 2023 (UTC)
- Rfd is about discussion; if no one wants to discuss for a week, the admin takes a decision. Note however, getting such articles undleeted is likely very difficult... Eptalon (talk) 17:57, 15 September 2023 (UTC)
- The problem here is that there is always an opinion to say delete. Unless the admin is stating that the OP has no valid reason to request, that request is the reason. After that, it comes to the point that no one opposed that reason. There is less the onus to state "me too" than to say "I object". If a person does not object, there is no reason to pile on unless to offset objections. I have no idea often I looked at an RfD and did not see a reason to try to affect the out come one way or another because I was in perfect consensus with the current (and likely future) outcome of the post. If no one posts, no one feels the need to add to the situation. as it stands, they are in consensus with how the RfD stands. If they were opposed to the consensus, they should say so else they must not be opposed enough to care about it. Pure Evil (talk) 19:57, 15 September 2023 (UTC)
- What do you expect? - The request is up for one week. If within that week you don't think it is necessary to respond one way or another, don't complain about the outcome, whatever it is.... Eptalon (talk) 21:39, 15 September 2023 (UTC)
- I expect if someone opposes something that they will either not sit on their hands and say something or they will let it go. If they can not be bothered to say they disagree, it is no ones place to think for them and ignore the request for apparent personal reasons. I do not expect people who agree to pile on with "per nom" votes.. yes vote, not !vote as nothing is served by saying Me too other than fake consensus to bypass soft deletes. If there is no opposition to an RfD, why do we need to validate the person and stroke their ego with "good call on this request. you did well!" But as you need for people to have their egos stroked for whatever reason. I hereby !vote "per nom" for every RfD from now on. If I am active, unless I specifically vote other wise, I vote Delete per nom on every current future RfD so there will never be one without at least two delete !votes. (me and nom) Pure Evil (talk) 23:10, 15 September 2023 (UTC)
- If you are going to go ahead and !vote per nom for almost every single RfD, then that's still minimal participation, and it'd still count as soft delete. --Ferien (talk) 15:58, 16 September 2023 (UTC)

- If RfDs did not get any !votes, it can be deleted, at admin discretion, but can be recreated and is not eligible for G4 if this happens afterwards. This is for two reasons. 1) because it is established in policy. G4 says about being discussed in requests for deletion, and if no-one else commented on the request, and an admin just closed it, that's not a discussion. It is a valid request, absolutely, but can't be called a discussion because no interaction between users occured. And 2) because that is what is done on enwiki, that we follow. I also agree with Eptalon's comment directly above me. --Ferien (talk) 21:48, 15 September 2023 (UTC)

- I've avoided protecting the talk pages in the past. I don't want to go into too much detail for obvious reasons, but I think adding off-topic messages to article talk pages (that are often reverted quickly) are preferable to email harassment and threats, that often happens to many users, not just admins, after protection. --Ferien (talk) 16:50, 10 September 2023 (UTC)
- I'd say there are a few "sensitive" articles, which have been vandalized by 1-2 POV-pushers earch. These are usually easy to spot, as the scope of their edits is very narrow (focused on the one POV they want to push). If an article is (semi-protected), its talk page shouldn't be. How else do you want new editors to suggest possibly reasonable changes? Eptalon (talk) 20:25, 10 September 2023 (UTC)

IPs failing responses to Category talk:Countries at association football competitions
Since the beginning of this category cleanup suggestion, I have been sending talkbacks to every IP that has been involved in the agenda (See Special:WhatLinksHere/Category_talk:Countries_at_association_football_competitions, Wikipedia:Simple_talk/Archive_153#Discussion_about_categories_for_countries_at_association_football_competitions). Despite these efforts, none of the IPs have joined the discussion. Instead they continue to increase the number of CFD candidates. Should I continue to send talkbacks and indefinitely allow their debated category creations, or should our admins need to consider about enforcements? MathXplore (talk) 05:31, 26 September 2023 (UTC)
- You can't force people to take part in a discussion. Also as there is no guideline in place at this time (consensus if being formed still) on how to deal with the issue, they do not seem to be in violation of general guidelines on categorizing at this time. Once consensus is established and how the issue is to be handled is decided, then you can warn them of the issue with their actions and steps could rightfully be taken to enforce the consensus. It can be aggravating, but get the rules first then go about getting them enforced. It gets sticky trying to enforce rules while they are being developed. Pure Evil (talk) 06:29, 26 September 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you for the feedback, I will continue to join the discussion over there. Is there anything else that I have to do to comply with your expectations? Should I stop sending talkbacks or should I continue sending them? MathXplore (talk) 06:54, 26 September 2023 (UTC)

Edit filter
Maybe you could make an edit filter to prohibit non-autoconfirmed users from blanking/replacing Wikipedia namespace pages, or otherwise just WP:ST and WP:AN. I can't think of any reason that it would be helpful. Kk.urban (talk) 19:06, 28 September 2023 (UTC)

Removing revisions from history
Is it possible to remove a lot of revisions and their reverts from the history of a page if it's highly offensive vandalism against a person, which is clogging up the page's history? Kk.urban (talk) 18:36, 30 September 2023 (UTC)
- Kk.urban, if it's really flooding the history then yes. Personally, I only do it in serious cases where RevDellable content has been edit warred over. Is there any particular example you would like me to look at, or is it just a general question? --Ferien (talk) 18:42, 30 September 2023 (UTC)

- I've placed a 6 month semi-protection on the page as almost every edit is either vandalism or reverting vandalism. It should be reviewed every 6 months as ideally we should not have long protections for pages although there are rare cases such as this one where it is needed. Template:Official website
I think {{Official website}} needs to be updated from enwiki. It's displaying incorrectly at the bottom of the infobox on Democratic Party (United States). Kk.urban (talk) 21:47, 3 October 2023 (UTC)
- @Kk.urban: Was displaying two URLs. Fixed by changing the Wikidata item. The item gives two URLs; I made the English-language one the preferred one. -- Auntof6 (talk) 22:20, 3 October 2023 (UTC)
- The template is working fine. Your changed forced it to use the dual entry wikidata as well as adding the multiple reference issues, Change it back to the old listing rather than the wikidata entry and fix the broken references and it will be fine,. Pure Evil (talk) 22:22, 3 October 2023 (UTC)
- There is also the issue of an unknown parameter that is now in the infobox. Governing body is not a valid parameter for the infobox here. Pure Evil (talk) 22:26, 3 October 2023 (UTC)
- @Pure Evil After my edit, the infobox was the same on enwiki and here, and was displaying the website correctly on enwiki but incorrectly here, so I assume there was some difference in either Template:Official website or Module:Official website, or some other template, that caused this. I don't know if this is important, and in any case Auntof6 resolved the issue here by changing the Wikidata item. If you still think it matters, I can change the infobox back to using the direct URL rather than Wikidata.
- I have also fixed the reference and unknown parameter issues. Kk.urban (talk) 23:57, 3 October 2023 (UTC)

TWINKLE
Hello:) I fixed TWINKLE in my test.js page. I tested it on simplewiki and test2wiki. I would appreciate it if you could check it out and modify the Twinkle.js.
- First, I fixed a bug on contributions page. Please see Wikipedia_talk:Twinkle#Major_bug?. There was a revert bug on contributions page because it couldn't receive any information about the diff.
- Second, I fixed a bug when there is no change or didn't fill out a CAPTCHA. For example, when reverting on special:diff/9109863, the original version says "completed," but the fixed version says "Revision we are reverting to is identical to current revision, stopping revert."
- Finally, I fixed a small bug with the new vector skin. Please see Wikipedia_talk:Twinkle#twinkle_options_gap.
I ask Bureaucrats to review this change and update TWINKLE.js. Please paste the following code into Special:MyPage/common.js to test it.
mw.loader.using(['mediawiki.util', 'jquery.ui']).then(function() {
importStylesheet('MediaWiki:Gadget-morebits.css');

A new user is distributing possible original research at this page while ignoring WP:MOS, depending on a paper which cites English Wikipedia, YouTube etc. I count 3 users (including me) reverting such changes. This is a possible content dispute so admins may need to consider protection for a while. MathXplore (talk) 14:38, 8 October 2023 (UTC)
- Recently published a paper that deals with negative numbers and circles. This paper looks into previously unseen geometrical aspect of circle. Key takeaways from this research paper are:
- For Circle:
- Pi is not constant and its value changes with change in angle.
- Area and circumference of circle can vary for same length of radi
- "Extension of side", a previously unknown attribute of circle is discussed here. its shown how its different from 'Tangent of circle'.
- Total number of sides a circle can have
- Maximum no of sides a circle can have
- Length of one side of circle
- Why squaring a circle is not possible
- Pi as irrational number
- it's impact on Euler's equation (inaccuracy of Euler's equation.
- For Negative Numbers:
- Why minus * minus must be minus and not plus.
- it's impact on complex math.
- If possible, I would suggest you to support me to make these changes to make this development reach to Wikipedia users to maximize the benefit of using this platform. I believe, I could say this because I am active user of wiki, its one of the main source of information for me, and its my responsibility to keep it updated, if i find or publish something useful. - You confirmed the problem with your first few word and again at the end. Your edit is based on a paper you published. That means it is the actual definition of original research. Wikipedia is not for publishing and distributing your research. Original research is not acceptable here. We are here to aggregate information from reliable sources, not promote individuals research on a topic. While it is possible for someone to refer to your work, self referral brings up a host of issues that bring the validity of the entire situation into question. Pure Evil (talk) 21:21, 8 October 2023 (UTC)
- I am delighted to know that rules of Wiki restrict the flow of current updates in scientific community. This got further confirmation when either research or personnel information of Russian Physicist P.M. Kanarev is not found in Wiki. Let me enlighten you about him on 1 sentence, he proved 100 year old Schwarzschild Radius incorrect in 2010, while Wiki still relies on a theory that is 100 year old. Its a great achievement from wiki. I am relieved to know Bharat \ India is building its own WIKI and the work is being done by professors of IIT, so I anticipate this will give higher flexibility to update the current research.
- I considered of updating this because of rule that reads " If an editor has published the results of his or her research in a reliable publication, the editor may cite that source while writing in the third person and complying with our neutrality policy. See also Wikipedia's guidelines on conflict of interest." Here there is no conflict of interest.
- Looking further can you or anyone here explain any equation that is written here or anywhere, was not published or documented before. and how that as a source is found to be reliable?
- Anyway thanks, from my end I am putting this communication at halt. Thanks. RohitMatihani (talk) 02:23, 9 October 2023 (UTC)

- I disagree. Some users are probably adding biased info, but I don't think autoconfirmed users are any less likely to be biased than other users. You are blocked on enwiki after several warnings related to Arab-Israeli disputes, for example. Kk.urban (talk) 04:58, 11 October 2023 (UTC)
- if the page is protected I can't edit either! Yet I'm asking... Faraz Sualeh (talk) 04:59, 11 October 2023 (UTC)
- If it's semi-protected, you could edit it. If it's fully protected, only administrators could edit it. The enwiki page is extended-confirmed protected, but we don't have extended-confirmed here. Kk.urban (talk) 05:00, 11 October 2023 (UTC)
- Oh ok, i didn't know that...🫠 Faraz Sualeh (talk) 05:02, 11 October 2023 (UTC)

Administrator note: Protection declined. At this point IPs are adding lots of good edits and yes, some are not helpful but I think the good outweighs the bad in this case. fr33kman 20:57, 11 October 2023 (UTC)
Navbox
I am sorry to say that I've messed up big time. I imported Template:Nobel Peace Prize laureates and I must have ticked something by accident and now the {{navbox}} shows an error that I don't know how to fix. Instead and me messing about and probably making things worse, can someone who knows what they are talking about kindly look at it. I promise to do better in the future. Sorry!! fr33kman 20:50, 11 October 2023 (UTC)
- Fr33kman, the error's now fixed, after reverting a couple of your imports. Of course as you know I am no stranger to making stupid mistakes with import, and it's now fixed so no worries! :) The reason you also imported some modules was because you also had the "Include all templates and transcluded pages" box ticked. If you're just importing one template, especially navboxes, it's best to just import the single template. --Ferien (talk) 20:55, 11 October 2023 (UTC)

- A bit of an awkward case, because non-confirmed users will sometimes edit that page constructively. Unfortunately, over the past few months or so, we have seen a lot of disruption from the same person, flooding the history by making false edits that they will then revert. However, the IPs they have been using seem to have been more constant than they were. I have blocked two IP ranges from editing the page and hope this helps the problem, at least temporarily, though I feel at some stage we will have to protect it. --Ferien (talk) 17:45, 11 October 2023 (UTC)

176.221.120.32
176.221.120.32 (talk · contribs · WHOIS) has been on a streak these last two days for 150 some edits. The problem is the content. While some of the edits are valid, there are way too many with incorrect date changes and a flood of complex text. I noticed the issue after they added 10 or so broken images and caused articles to hit error cats. I then checked their contributions and found the rest of the issue.
I hand checked the first dozen or so then said screw it and reverted the rest of the first 50 so there could be some false positives in there. For page 2, I shifted back to hand checking and validation each date to the en version. A few passed but many do not.. reverting still in process. Pure Evil (talk) 22:32, 12 October 2023 (UTC)

Can my user talk page be semi-protected, at least for some length of time, if not indef? Someone whose unblock request I denied on enwiki UTRS has decided to contact me about it here because of their block there, and that's led to other IP discussions on my talk page that have no relevance either to this project or me. List of programs broadcast by Universal Kids
As many of our "programs" lists are low maintenance but draw heavy action and can be a pain to weed out routine vandalism, at times it is best to limit some of them. This is the case with List of programs broadcast by Universal Kids. The list is almost exclusively links with very little prose that would need simplifying. It is all about where we point the links. Once the list is set up, there should be little to know changes as the programs do not change often, One he intro is set and a bit is added to explain things, there should not be a lot of editing needed until the realatively yearly programming changes.
This is not the situation here. An IP is routinely reverting to past versions which do not match what en. is listing. As well are the terms linked in the intro and the extra prose explaining the list. And then there is the list itself. For example, their "current programs" includes Where's Waldo? (2019-2021 - S1 U kids, S2 peacock), "Top Chef Junior (2017 - 2018), Get Out of My Room (2018) American Ninja Warrior Junior ( 2018-2020 U Kids, 2021 peacock) and The Voice Kids (UK version - 2017 - 2023 on ITV)
I have returned it to base line 3x 7x in the last 3 4 days and warned the IPs 2x many times for adding false info before tossing the situation up here. Pure Evil (talk) 07:57, 13 October 2023 (UTC)

User talk:Sandeep Manikpuri, block evasion and threats
Sandeep Manikpuri (talk · contribs) was blocked back in August, but has continued to use IP's to edit their talk page page. Their last post [9] though has crossed the line from asking/begging for unblocks to threats. Yeah, I know this is probably a younger editor that doesn't know better, but I think this has gone on enough time. It looks like nearly everything from this range is from SM, so maybe a range block for a bit to stop the nonsense? Ravensfire (talk) 18:39, 15 October 2023 (UTC)

Admins should consider if this is an WP:ONESTRIKE case. Thank you for your attention. MathXplore (talk) 14:26, 3 November 2023 (UTC)

Request for indefinite semi-protection of policy pages
As policies are hard rules, I think they should all be at least semi-protected so new users and vandals can't edit them. I'm requesting indefinite semi-protection for the following policies:
- Wikipedia:Attack page
- Wikipedia:Be kind
- Wikipedia:Child protection
- Wikipedia:Consensus
- Wikipedia:Global rights policy
- Wikipedia:GlobalBlocking
- Wikipedia:Harassment
- Wikipedia:Importers
- Wikipedia:Inactive administrators
- Wikipedia:Interface administrators
- Wikipedia:Libel
- Wikipedia:No legal threats
- Wikipedia:No original research
- Wikipedia:Open proxies
- Wikipedia:Ownership of articles
- Wikipedia:Signatures
- Wikipedia:Transwiki attribution
- Wikipedia:Uploaders
- Wikipedia:Wheel war

- Whilst I agree that most new users don't need to edit these pages, is there evidence that they are being vandalised? Blocking the vandal is usually the better way of protecting than protecting the pages. fr33kman 19:37, 3 November 2023 (UTC)
- A few of them have been vandalized a lot, like Wikipedia:Attack page, but I thought this could be used as a precautionary measure, like protection of "highly visible templates". I don't think Wikipedia:Be bold applies to changing policies. Kk.urban (talk) 19:39, 3 November 2023 (UTC)
- I#m willing to protect them all, but we're never really had a big problem iirc. fr33kman 08:33, 4 November 2023 (UTC)

Please protect Talk:Moscow Kremlin: vandalism by an LTA. --Leonidlednev (talk) 18:20, 3 November 2023 (UTC)
- These pages should almost always be left unprotected. When those rarely viewed talk pages are protected, he moves to either mainspace pages or harassing users on user talk pages. So long as people don't revert back and forth, this disruption on talk pages is better than elsewhere. --Ferien (talk) 19:28, 3 November 2023 (UTC)
- For a simple page it is better to block the user vandalizing it. Protecting pages is only for edit-wars involving many unnamed and named edits in order to force people talk talk on the talk page. No action need ed sat this time. fr33kman 22:09, 3 November 2023 (UTC)
- Given a 2 week block to let them cool down and think about things. TP access left open so they can discuss the situation openly. Hope this help! fr33kman 08:32, 4 November 2023 (UTC)
- Considering this is a WMF-banned editor known for harassing people, TP access should not be left opened - and they will just use proxies anyway. --Ferien (talk) 11:59, 5 November 2023 (UTC)

I think this is a QD A4 case but the author is repeating QD tag removals, so I will forward the QD request to here. MathXplore (talk) 05:49, 5 November 2023 (UTC)
Comic-Con signers
A series of at least four articles were recently created that are scarce on information but do make a claim of notability. This has led to two of them so far being RfD'd as the claim prevents QD. In all four cased, the claim is a hoax. They state the person was at Comic-Con 2009 for either a signing or a panel. One even says they were there for the panel in October 2009 (ComicCon was July23-26). Those affected:
- Janet James (rfd)
- Keith Wickham
- Mandi Symonds
- Trevor Ricketts (rfd)
Per Wikipedia:Requests for deletion/Requests/2023/Soumya Ranjan Pradhan, I think this is a QD G4 case, but since the author is repeating QD tag removal, I will forward the QD request to here. MathXplore (talk) 10:58, 6 November 2023 (UTC)
- Cut out the usual paid sources, sources that refer to a different person with the same name and promotional drek and it's pretty clear deletion. Ravensfire (talk) 14:12, 6 November 2023 (UTC)
- And in case any has any AGF left, creator is now blocked on EN as part of the Amansharma111 sock farm, who's also been spamming UPE and crap articles here for a while. [14]. Ravensfire (talk) 16:49, 6 November 2023 (UTC)
