768 MB RAM on Apple Watch Series 3
changeDid you use Apple Watch Series 3 for making changes? If not, why? Is 768 MB more than 64GB? 79.67.17.238 (talk) 16:48, 17 May 2021 (UTC)
- I don’t use my watch for internet. It’s not feasible in the least. GB is bigger than MB. So no 768 mb is not larger than 64Gb. PotsdamLamb (talk) 16:50, 17 May 2021 (UTC)
In my opinion there shouldn't be an article for that at all. I don't think Peppa Pig's house would deserve an article, so why should this place in Yo Gabba Gabba!? --Ferien (talk) 17:52, 19 May 2021 (UTC)
- It is a redirect to the Yo Gabba Gabba! and I just redirected it. :) PotsdamLamb (talk) 17:54, 19 May 2021 (UTC)
NMB News
changeHi, you listed NMB News as a QD for being not notable. There has been a challenge to this, so I have moved it to RFD. You may like to make a comment on the discussion to support your original QD request. Peterdownunder (talk) 00:37, 21 May 2021 (UTC)
Notability
changeYou placed a QD on a badly written article on Vignesh kickboxer martialarts - the article certainly did claim notability, such as the "undisputed world heavyweight champion". The QD is denied. Peterdownunder (talk) 22:24, 19 May 2021 (UTC)
- @Peterdownunder:I saw that but looking at the references provided, they are all web archives that go to the same page and one is on the Wayback archive website and the title of the page needs to be changed as well. PotsdamLamb (talk) 22:26, 19 May 2021 (UTC)
- If you think the references are not reliable, then the article should go to RFD - not QD. I noticed that another editor had placed an RFD on the article in question which you removed. That is not something which you should have done - if you felt that it should have been quickly deleted then you should have made a comment in the RFD discussion. By removing the tag and ending the discussion you are acting as an administrator - a role which you are not authorised by the community to carry out. Peterdownunder (talk) 22:32, 19 May 2021 (UTC)
- I was not in any way acting as an administrator, I was being bold. There are many things about the article that are not right and I can find no mention of this person on the internet. It is not just the references. I will put it back up for RfD. PotsdamLamb (talk) 22:35, 19 May 2021 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) Non-administrator closures can be a very good thing (let's say a page has already been deleted but an admin forgot to close or the nominator withdraws the nomination and no-one has voted to delete) but, for future, closing an RfD to make a QD is not correct. --Ferien (talk) 20:37, 21 May 2021 (UTC)

changeOk sir but please do not delete article I remove in this article's harm content Drewdramfir (talk) 20:32, 21 May 2021 (UTC)

Election Volunteer

- I have none but please change your user name. I can’t ping you in anything because I don’t have a Japanese/Chinese keyboard so characters and script can’t be typed out. You will want people to be able to ping you and such with questions. We haven’t done much yet as it is getting set up. PotsdamLamb (talk) 01:08, 24 May 2021 (UTC)
- I see, then it's best for me not to run then, I had to do a re-name for an important reason (I cannot publicly disclose why) and It's a Japanese Keyboard :-) You could just copy and paste my username from the signature when you click edit source; :-) --Tsugaru Let's Talk! :) 🍁 01:24, 24 May 2021 (UTC)

Recent changes
- The Wikimedia movement has been using IRC on a network called Freenode. There have been changes around who is in control of the network. The Wikimedia IRC Group Contacts have decided to move to the new Libera Chat network instead. This is not a formal decision for the movement to move all channels but most Wikimedia IRC channels will probably leave Freenode. There is a migration guide and ongoing Wikimedia discussions about this.
Changes later this week
- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 25 May. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 26 May. It will be on all wikis from 27 May (calendar).

Trying to understand the confusion
changeI noticed your message on the talk page of user:21chseld301. I am his teacher. I created that username for the student because he could no longer access his former username, user:20chseld301, because he didn't have an email address associated with it to recover the password. It doesn't look like he's using his userpage as a sandbox. Is there something that is still a problem that I should address or can we mark this issue as now resolved? Thank you for your help, Swim123blue (talk) 20:19, 24 May 2021 (UTC)
- Hi - Yes this was taken care of. They were using their main page as an article, so it needed to be changed, which the student did. So it is all good now. I did notice that your students are not placing the header on the pages they edit {{class project|teacher=swim123blue|link=Wikipedia:Schools/Projects/easell}}. If that can be added, it will help your students out as we won't flag those articles or make changes. PotsdamLamb (talk) 20:28, 24 May 2021 (UTC)
- We just chose the pages to edit today and students should propose changes in the article talk pages by the end of today. We'll add the banner to the pages once we start "construction" on Thursday. Thanks for the reminder. Swim123blue (talk) 21:51, 24 May 2021 (UTC)
No worries. PotsdamLamb (talk) 21:58, 24 May 2021 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) It is acceptable to use a user page as a sandbox, as long as it's being worked on with the aim of putting the text on an actual live page (after which the user page can be cleared). It doesn't have to be done in a subpage. --Auntof6 (talk) 00:18, 25 May 2021 (UTC)
- It was a CP of an article with no changes that I could see, but it was handled. PotsdamLamb (talk) 00:21, 25 May 2021 (UTC)
- Sandboxes are likely to start as copypastes, whether on a user page or elsewhere. As long as it doesn't stay that way too long, it's not a problem. --Auntof6 (talk) 00:28, 25 May 2021 (UTC)
- Yes ma'am :) That was explained to me. The user also didn't have a student box either or else I would have let it go altogether. :) PotsdamLamb (talk) 00:29, 25 May 2021 (UTC)

Clarification
changeHello, P. Lamb. I'm a veteran WP editor across numerous projects, including approx. weekly visits to the Simple English WP. I happened to read the discussion that included this text you wrote - which prompts me to suggest a clarification: You wrote "It is a 360° turn around from who I was." (Emphasis mine) Was your intention 180°, i.e. a "complete about-face"? The Simple English WP is read by many for whom English is an acquired language, so I believe it's especially important to write clearly here, including idiomatic language in communicating with other editors. I'd even go further to say that idiomatic expressions have little place in SE WP, certainly being non-standard usage on mainspace pages. Hope this helps. Wishing you well with your continued contributions. Cheers! -- Deborahjay (talk) 12:42, 27 May 2021 (UTC)
- No I meant a full 360°. 180° is only 1/2 a circle. PotsdamLamb (talk) 15:37, 27 May 2021 (UTC)
- A 360° turn-around means that nothing changes, because you end up back where you were. Is that what you meant? A 180° turn-around means that things change so much that they are completely different. The expression "360° turn-around" is one I've never seen used, probably because there wouldn't be much of a need for it, except if one were trying to sound humorous. --Auntof6 (talk) 20:52, 27 May 2021 (UTC)
- Yeah I guess you are both right, I could try being funny, but that would not have worked out so well. PotsdamLamb (talk) 20:56, 27 May 2021 (UTC)

Hello, PDL. (May I call you PDL?) I got your email. I prefer to keep communication on-wiki unless it is something confidential. I don't think the topics in your email are confidential. If you do think so, please email me again and explain why; otherwise, please ask again on-wiki. Thanks. --Auntof6 (talk) 05:26, 28 May 2021 (UTC)
- @Auntof6: PDL is fine. Here is a copy of what I sent you.
On the Template:COVID-19 pandemic, I have noticed that people (mostly IPs) have added specific cities to the US portion. I am not sure why this was done or if it supposed to be done. From what I read in the TOC and layout, it is only supposed to be states. There is also a top grouping on the US about 4 items, that are not states (one is loke socio-economic, trump admin communication, etc.).
Secondly, I wanted to ask if I could gain temporary AWB access to 1) test my script on a couple pages in the Category:CS1 Discouraged parameters to update the wording so that error goes away. Over 52k pages is a lot for me to do. If the test goes well, I would start doing in small batches of 25 at a time so as to not trigger anything. I may need the flood flag (I am not sure). What are your thoughts on that?
Thanks, PotsdamLamb (talk) 05:33, 28 May 2021 (UTC)
- On the template issue: I would prefer keeping it in synch with the enwiki copy, especially since there are so many red links already. If the enwiki version has the links, then they should be OK here; otherwise my preference would be not to have them.
- On the AWB access, the category you mention doesn't exist, so I assume you mean Category:CS1 maint: discouraged parameter, yes? In any case, I usually prefer that people use the official, defined places to request things. AWB access can be requested at Wikipedia talk:AutoWikiBrowser/CheckPage. You would probably be asked exactly what changes you would make (not just what you want to fix, but exactly how you plan to fix them, including something about whatever logic your script has). If you've made any of the changes manually, you could point to them as examples. --Auntof6 (talk) 05:49, 28 May 2021 (UTC)
- That is the correct category, and yes I already requested it a while ago on the request page. It’s simply pull the pages from the category and then search and replace words. I think it’s 7 words or so. Basically inserting the hyphen where it needs to go. Then they disappear from the category. There are some that may need me to manually by hand due to another issue I haven’t seen on the discouraged word list. For examples you can look at my last 30-40 contributions with the edit summary of CS1 error fix.PotsdamLamb (talk) 06:09, 28 May 2021 (UTC)

May 2021
changeWelcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to make helpful changes to Wikipedia. However, some of your changes, like those to "Deaths in 2021", did not seem to be helpful and have been reverted or removed. If you want to try out changing Wikipedia to learn more about how it works, please use the sandbox. Thank you. Auntof6 (talk) 17:36, 31 May 2021 (UTC)
- @Auntof6: I am trying to reorganize the entire year. The page is not listed correctly as it should be 'Deaths in May 2021' to match the others, but someone did a redirect to this page. I was making them on a May 2021 page and adding just May as a heading so it comes up as 1 May, 2 May, 3 May, etc instead of 1.1.1, 1.4.5, etc to make it easier to read. Is there a different way to do this to make it easier to read? PotsdamLamb (talk) 17:41, 31 May 2021 (UTC)
- The "deaths in" pages have been managed this way for a long time. If you think a long-standing process should be changed, then discuss it first. I'm not saying your idea isn't good, just that you need to consider other factors before making this kind of change. --Auntof6 (talk) 17:50, 31 May 2021 (UTC)
- @Auntof6 OK. I did not know that as I was being bold to make it 'simple' for our readers. It reads very confusing. Besides simple talk, do we have a high visibility page that I can post it on to start the discussion? PotsdamLamb (talk) 17:52, 31 May 2021 (UTC)
- In this case, just use Simple talk because it involves a lot of different pages. Be sure to ping TDKR Chicago 101, because they put a lot of effort into managing these pages. By the way, the main reason your changes weren't helpful was that all the headings ended up as just the name of the month, without the day. --Auntof6 (talk) 18:05, 31 May 2021 (UTC)
- @Auntof6 ok but it shows 1 May, 2 May, 3 May, 4 May when you view the page with all the headings as ==May== instead of 1.1.1, 1.4.5 etc. I will start the conversation there. Thanks. PotsdamLamb (talk) 18:06, 31 May 2021 (UTC)

Why is your talk page archived aggresively?
changeJust wondering. Three days! That's far too quick tbh. Maybe 7 is a lot less? I mean, it's up to you, but just saying. SHB2000 (talk) 23:59, 11 August 2021 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) I do not think there is any rule stipulating on when talkpages should be archived. --Tsugaru Let's Talk! :) 🍁 00:44, 12 August 2021 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) You are correct. Each user can set their archiving parameters the way they want. Shorter times do make it harder for people to find conversations, but 1) everything would still be in the page history and 2) a individual user isn't required to consider the archiving schedule's effect on anyone else. --Auntof6 (talk) 03:13, 12 August 2021 (UTC)
- There is no rule, but common sense would make you prevail that 3 discussions die out and can sometimes revive. SHB2000 (talk) 05:28, 12 August 2021 (UTC)
- @SHB2000@つがる - I changed it to 7 days. I have always had it at 3 days because of vandalism fighting, on EN, I would get a lot of messages from it and that would fill up the page a lot. That was also prior to all the changes of just being able to follow just one topic and not the the entire page. Hope that helps you! PDLTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? - Thanks! It's just that at times, discussions revive after certain periods of time (including 2 years, but that's not really talk messages). SHB2000 (talk) 07:06, 12 August 2021 (UTC)
(Pronouns: He, him, his) 05:55, 12 August 2021 (UTC)
- There is no rule, but common sense would make you prevail that 3 discussions die out and can sometimes revive. SHB2000 (talk) 05:28, 12 August 2021 (UTC)
Guideline copying
changeI just moved the guideline you copied over to your user space to work on. You can't just copy guidelines over as they will require community discussion and major simplification (which is why they aren't here already). -Djsasso (talk) 16:45, 12 August 2021 (UTC)

Creating maintenance categories
changeMost of the maintenance categories are set up in a specific way. The way you set up Category:Articles needing additional references from August 2021 was not correct, so I have fixed it. When creating such a category, please look at a similar one to see how to set it up. Thanks. --Auntof6 (talk) 08:57, 19 August 2021 (UTC)
- @Auntof6 Gotcha! I copied that from another one I can’t remember where though. Maybe off of EN wiki. Now I know it’s much simpler with that template. I have it in my notes now. Thanks much! PDLTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? (Pronouns: He, him, his) 09:15, 19 August 2021 (UTC)
- The one thing to watch for is with the categories for pages needing to be simplified. Those take some extra parameters that the others don't. --Auntof6 (talk) 09:20, 19 August 2021 (UTC)

Your question on an RFD page
changeI noticed that you asked a question about RFDs started by "banned" users. That user is not banned here; they are indeffed. --Auntof6 (talk) 20:14, 24 August 2021 (UTC)
- Ok I misspoke, as they are blocked as a sockpuppet so I see that as banned. My apologies for using the wrong wording. I would strike out the word, but it closed. The original user was blocked in 2018 so that is why I used banned as well. PDLTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? (Pronouns: He, him, his) 20:18, 24 August 2021 (UTC)

Your error
changeThere's an error in citation in the page Khongjomnubi Nongarol. Rectify it. There are many cases I found like these, because of you. So, get some care while doing so in future. Haoreima (talk) 15:30, 29 August 2021 (UTC)
- @Haoreima @Auntof6 Haoreima - I do not appreciate you demanding I do anything or accusing me of anything. You need to be civil and polite. There are not many of these cases it is prone to happen as I clean up articles due to how bad they are when I work on them. I tagged Auntof6 because I know this is not the first incident involving you acting in this way. I will bookmark the article to fix later as I am at work. Don’t post anything like this again please. PDLTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? (Pronouns: He, him, his) 15:47, 29 August 2021 (UTC)
- Pointing out an error, or accusing someone of something is not necessarily uncivil, especially if Haoreima has given evidence of the error you made. Here, whilst all the references are just displayed as links, they aren't broken, but here, there is a big red error in the references section. I also recall you making another edit to a page that broke the references. --Ferien (talk) 16:02, 29 August 2021 (UTC)
- @Ferien It’s the tone of the message. Not the content. Again it is bound to happen as you are aware. I’m also working so I can’t do it now. But this is also something someone else can fix too. PDLTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? (Pronouns: He, him, his) 16:11, 29 August 2021 (UTC)

- PDL, it's pretty obvious that Haoreima's English is not perfect, so I would cut him some slack concerning his tone. The nuances of courteous language can be difficult to learn. Also, it wasn't necessary to ping an admin here. If you have an issue with another editor that's serious enough to report, please use one of the standard places for doing that. Thanks. --Auntof6 (talk) 16:45, 29 August 2021 (UTC)
- Why are creating an issue? I simply asked you to have care in future, everything in good faith. It may regarded as an "advice" or "suggestion", not to have much error in future! See, why I said, There are many cases I found like these, because of you. because of Talk:Khuman Khamba and Talk:Korouhanba. And I ain't accusing you. Pointing out an error isn't uncivil but helping you. In fact, you are accusing me as if I am offending you, by creating the issue bigger. Your speech- "I tagged Auntof6 because I know this is not the first incident involving you acting in this way." Is this good? Actually, you hurted my sentiment. Haoreima (talk) 17:19, 29 August 2021 (UTC)
- @Haoreima As Auntof6 said it’s a matter of the language barrier. You are not a native speaker of English so it does come off that way to me. I am ok. I fixed both errors via my phone since I have a little time. The one all the references are a giant mess. I was able to get rid of the bare references but it needs more work for it to be properly done. The other one whomever put the references in gave them the same title but different links. If you look at the WP cleaner it was to clean up duplicate references not to correct them. That basically means it found the references written out multiple times instead of just once and using a reference name. The other article also listed all of the google books as a cite web which is incorrect as it should have been cite book. I eliminated the error but again I’ll need to go through and properly get them done. Neither one of these errors were introduced by me. They were already present and I simply did not double check my work. You listed one that was done over a month ago and pinged Ferien and all he did was a rollback but you never notified me. To say many is incorrect in the English language. Many means a lot more than 2 or 3 errors. Otherwise you can say I noticed a couple of errors on these articles. If you need anything else please let me know. PDLTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? (Pronouns: He, him, his) 18:41, 29 August 2021 (UTC)

- Seems I have to learn an English language class from you, lol! Haoreima (talk) 18:47, 29 August 2021 (UTC)
- It’s all good. I used to know German and 5 different beginners classes in Spanish and I still can’t speak it. PDLTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? (Pronouns: He, him, his) 18:51, 29 August 2021 (UTC)
- @Haoreima If you look at Khongjomnubi Nongarol you will see how the references should be. I fixed them all. Here is the diff. When you compare them you will see why I cannot do it on a mobile device. You will also notice if you compare the original to the final why it is always a pain because it was very old fashioned and not put in correctly. But they are now fixed. I did ask someone to assist me on fixing the infobox and the template because that layout is not correct but I do not know how to fix it. They will probably help me/fix it in the next day or so. I will work on the other article as well. PDLTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? (Pronouns: He, him, his) 03:14, 30 August 2021 (UTC)

Your error 2
changeHello! I saw when you convert some links, you merged all the links from with "unique search results" into one, just because they belong to the same book. It will create a misunderstanding to other editors in future. So, I have reconstructed all those vanished unique links. See Edit 1, Edit 2 and Edit 3 So, please do not merge things into one if they are unique. This case should be discussed separately from the case of bare URL. Haoreima (talk) 07:13, 31 August 2021 (UTC)

changeHello, it's nice to see you around again. For monthly cleanup cats (like ... from June 2022), please remember to use {{MonthlyCleanupCat}}. Thanks, --Ferien (talk) 17:36, 6 June 2022 (UTC)
- @Ferien Thanks. I thought there was something missing because when I added anything to the article like use dmy it threw an error about invalid formats. I will keep this bookmarked. And thank you for the kind words. PotsdamLamb (talk) 17:38, 6 June 2022 (UTC)
Spam warnings
changeHi, I noticed that you warned an editor for adding spam links using {{uw-advert1}} and subsequent higher warning level templates. I want to let you know that there are templates specially used to warn editors for adding spam links - {{uw-spam1}} up to {{uw-spam4}}. However, like {{uw-rfd}}, this isn't in twinkle (though uw-spam1 technically is, albeit incorrectly categorized as single-issue warnings). Thanks. — *Fehufangą ♮ ✉ Talk page 13:59, 18 June 2022 (UTC)
- @Fehufanga: They are one and the same so it does not matter which one is used. If you read the spam one you linked it also says advertising. Thank you for your comments though. I appreciate them. PotsdamLamb (talk) 17:06, 18 June 2022 (UTC)
Qubo
changeMost of the content was falsified to begin with (the logo in the infobox is someone's invention for a 'rebranding' after it actually closed), and there should not be that much finite detail for a Simple article, nor is an affiliate list needed (most of it was from the en.wiki article without attribution or proper editing). Mrschimpf (talk) 02:43, 20 June 2022 (UTC)
- @Mrschimpf Please respond on your page where I left the original message so everything stays in one place and there are no broken conversations for editors following along. There can be a lot of “finite” detail for any article as we work to build up our articles. Saturn started with only a couple paragraphs and was worked by a group of us to build it up to a very large article with a lot of detail. Having a list is perfectly fine as it is historical in nature. I just took an article from one sentence and turned it into a very decent article despite not having a lot to research on based on the facts I was able to uncover. The logo I can see being an issue so I can agree with that. But with the wipeout of all of the content you made it a stub when you could have simplified it down and maintaining it to the basic English language. By you doing this you also emptied out all references and created a blank section so if you don’t have any references I would ask that you please remove the empty references section. I would go the route of simplifying it especially since you have not edited since 2016 and your first action is to remove over 34k characters from an article. Thank you for your time. PDLTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? 03:03, 20 June 2022 (UTC)
- Apologies, but this is how I use talk pages on en.wiki, where I have near 85k edits, and rarely venture to Simple, which from my understanding has always presented articles in a simple manner, shortened, and with readable wording easily understood in a manner where things are not complicated by too many details (here details about cable deals are too detailed and unimportant) or things like station affiliate lists. Again, I reverted what was mainly an unattributed copy of the en.wiki article dropped in by an IPv6 without any proper editing to fit this project, an edit itself flagged as 'possible spamming'. On en.wiki, this would be reverted as vandalism, with a warning not to do it again.
- Has the mission of Simple changed since then, or am I now mistaken? If this is the reception I get for trying to fix issues which stuck out from the en.wiki Qubo article, I'll probably remain there from now on. Mrschimpf (talk) 03:29, 20 June 2022 (UTC)
- Also the IP which threw in the en.wiki text vandalized en.wiki with nonsense about another company restarting Qubo out of nowhere. So I feel justified in my revision here, as vandalism is unacceptable. Mrschimpf (talk) 03:32, 20 June 2022 (UTC)
- I agree with what you said. The mission is the same but we want to expand the articles too. Too many editors just throw one or two sentences on a page and call it an article with no references. So a lot of what I do is go through and fix these and try to expand them. I was mostly curious as to why you blanked the entire thing with that type of explanation. If you could add a couple of references you should be good :) Sorry for any confusion. As far as the talk pages, some of us prefer to keep the conversation on the same page it started just easier to read that way and editors don’t have to go back and forth to read the conversation. I find it much more simpler. PDLTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? 04:33, 20 June 2022 (UTC)

The IP edits to bird articles
changeThis IP wasn't actually removing content in their edits to Bird, Neoaves, and Passerine, but they did replace the common name with the scientific name. I agree with your reverts, because the common name is better as a title to the infobox. (This was just a remark, not saying you did something wrong.) Lights and freedom (talk) 01:34, 21 June 2022 (UTC)
- Correct that is why I did that plus the taxon bar matches which was the other reason. I did them as AGF reverts just to be sure because I know you are stalking me :) PDLTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? 01:36, 21 June 2022 (UTC)
- I'm not stalking you in particular, just watching recent changes. Sometimes IP's will do something that messes up an article; other times they notice a problem or inconsistency that's not spotted by regular editors. Thanks for catching this! Lights and freedom (talk) 01:42, 21 June 2022 (UTC)

Why revert my changes on Lisa Montgomery
changeWhat was wrong about my wording? Meanwhile to describe drinking as a way to actually “better handle” the situation of having been raped and abused as a child is not correct and gives a misleading impression that drinking is a good way to handle trauma, instead of a common way to disassociate and harm yourself following trauma. 2603:6000:F042:5B36:4DB4:9EE0:66B8:C660 (talk) 03:25, 23 June 2022 (UTC)
Replying to your message
changeIs it not also expressing an opinion on Wikipedia to leave the text as is saying “to better handle the situation”? Wouldn’t following your own preferred rule mean we should actually re-write it “Montgomery began drinking alcohol” etc etc, not expressing any opinion about why and leaving it implicit that the two subjects (her repeatedly facing rape and abuse & her heavy drinking) are related?
I will make that change and perhaps we can all like it better. 2603:6000:F042:5B36:4DB4:9EE0:66B8:C660 (talk) 03:29, 23 June 2022 (UTC)

Statutory rape/age of consent merge
changeHello. I believe that the articles statutory rape and age of consent should be merged. Statutory rape either means violation of age of consent laws, or if defined more broadly sexual acts against mentally incompetent adults. The latter definition would justify a separate article for statutory rape, but the article as currently on Simple Wikipedia is only about the former definition. RegrettingMistakes777 (talk) 21:34, 25 June 2022 (UTC)
- @RegrettingMistakes777 This would be better to have the conversation on Wikipedia:Simple talk to get information from all of the community. To me, they should not be merged as one is a definition of what statutory rape is and the other is about age of consent (which in the US varies by state and can range from 16 to 18. Hitler
changeI don't remember Hitler advocating murdering Jews in Mein Kampf. I have read the book. Although there is one passage where he talks about twelve or fifteen hundred of them being killed, he appears to be talking about a small minority among them, not the vast majority. I thought that his original plan was to expel them. RegrettingMistakes777 (talk) 02:54, 25 June 2022 (UTC)
- [[..._called_for_the_murder???]] Eptalon stated here that Hitler did not call for the murder of Jews in Mein Kampf. RegrettingMistakes777 (talk) 02:58, 25 June 2022 (UTC)
- However, you put in your point of view, including in the edit summary where you stated "I don't believe that Hitler called for their murder in Mein Kampf" located here. That shows a point of view. If you are able to show a reference of where in a point of time he decided to kill off the Jewish population in his life, then it can be changed. I hope that helps you better understand why I reverted your addition. I did it as good faith so you are not in trouble, you just need the reference to prove what you stated you believed as every person has a different belief. Capitalization in term 'south African' in Beit article
changeThere was no country called South Africa during Beit's life. South Africa was founded in 1910. Before that the region was various separate British colonies with no political connection to each other. So I think that the term 'south African' should not be capitalized. RegrettingMistakes777 (talk) 00:54, 26 June 2022 (UTC)
- But it was in southern Africa, correct? Even though they did not have it until 1910, lower case signifies direction where uppercase signifies a territory like Southwestern US, East Africa vs. sw US which would indicate to go to the sw of the US. Does that make sense? PDLTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? 01:00, 26 June 2022 (UTC)
- @RegrettingMistakes777 I spent some time researching this. It will be South Africa after all. I did do some work on this. I’m reading a book written by a very distant family member and I found a few scholarly journals. If you don’t want to do this article let me know and I’ll move it to my space and work on it. a:Warning users
changeHi, I'm sorry but I don't know what are you talking about. And really, I don't know what IP or registered user you mean, don't know what "kosher" means or who was expressing their point of view on whom. Sending a final warning as if it were the first is a very basic error, and reviewing my contributions I didn't find that I've done anything like what you say. So please point me where I have done something like that. Thanks. -Alabama- (talk) 21:50, 29 June 2022 (UTC)
- @-Alabama- I am talking about User talk:2A00:23C7:DC8F:3901:C5E0:3BAF:9FED:CF6F. The first warning you gave them for today was a final warning stating vandalism. The article Einsatzgruppen they had inserted a POV and some of the edits where valid but some were not. Kosher basically means genuine and legitimate. Your reversion is the standard in the edit bar but not on the IPs talk page. PDLTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? 22:23, 29 June 2022 (UTC)

- @Fehufanga That was yesterday though and they didn’t edit for a while. I do see your post on AN however you put it in the middle of other posts instead of the bottom :) I am fully behind you. This is why I don’t like SWviewer. Any of the 3 though you should check and see what was already put on the page. Sometimes twinkle and redwarn don’t read it properly and will add it based on the month, which in my opinion and based on admin comments throughout all the VIPs we’ve had I venture to say it’s daily and resets after a while hence the stale message when they stop editing after the warning. Your email
changeI got your email. Thank you. I prefer to communicate on-wiki as much as possible, so I am responding here.
As for the user page you mentioned, those conversations there are not recent so I don't think action now would be appropriate. If you see anything further that you think should be reported, you can report it at WP:VIP if it is actual vandalism, otherwise at WP:AN. Reporting at one of those designated places is preferable to reporting on an individual admin's talk page, because you can never know when the admin will see it. -- Auntof6 (talk) 00:54, 1 July 2022 (UTC)
Formatting, especially sister links
changeTake a look at some of your changes that I just undid or reformatted. If the sister link boxes appear under the infobox AND they don't appear next to the section they're coded in, then you may need to use the inline forms. What you don't want is sister link boxes by themselves way at the bottom of an article.
Also, adding a defaultsort that just specified the page name isn't necessary. A defaultsort is needed only if the sort key should be something different from the page name. That could be a person's name with the surname first, a version of the page name with diacritics removed, or something else. -- Auntof6 (talk) 00:50, 28 June 2022 (UTC)
- @Auntof6 Ah I see what you mean. Thank you for that. I will check the others after dinner. For the default sort I thought that was on all pages because I see it a lot and it is the same thing as the page name, as if it is an index of sorts. - @Lallint After you have given them a final warning (starting with the 1st warning) you can report them to the Vandalism in Progress notification board for admins to take action. I cannot do anything other than warn them and report them. I also recommend you use twinkle or another tool as your signature is not on all of the warnings you have given them. I will go revert or QD the pages for the moment. If they make any more changes, go ahead and report them as you issued a final notice from what I can see. Condetto
change@*Fehufangą @MathXplore - Hey I wanted to get your thoughts on this. We have Condotta which was created today. I looked up the enWP version and they have a redirect of Condotta going to EN:Condottiero. The articles are very far from even being close to the exact same thing. I think if anything, we should move the page to Condotta (painting) or just qd it and create a simple version of Salvatore Garau re: EN:Salvatore Garau where we can list the artwork(s) he has created. What are your thoughts? PDLTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? 01:14, 5 July 2022 (UTC)
- Thank you for checking the redirect at EN. I'm not sure which criteria can be applied for this QD. Instead, I reverted the move I done to the page. Making page for Salvatore Garau is also a good idea. MathXplore (talk) 01:33, 5 July 2022 (UTC)
- @MathXplore I would do a QD as a custom "rational" and then just put in the link to the correct article. Yes the typo is just for you! changeWould you mind explaining why you moved Association de défense des animaux et de la nature? Thanks. -- Auntof6 (talk) 20:05, 13 July 2022 (UTC)
- @Auntof6 - I do have a question. If someone creates a page that the entire title is in french, would it be appropriate to move it to the english title and add an aka and use the french name: https://simple.wikipedia.org/wiki/Association_de_d%C3%A9fense_des_animaux_et_de_la_nature
- 11:24:34 V<Vermont> Yeah, move with a redirect to the English title. That is why. PDLTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? 20:07, 13 July 2022 (UTC)
- I think the normal practice is to leave the name in its native language, at least if the alphabet uses characters like English uses. If it were a language that uses different characters -- like Russian, Greek, Chinese, etc. -- that would be different. -- Auntof6 (talk) 20:10, 13 July 2022 (UTC)
- @Auntof6 No worries, I just did it based on the answer I was given by an admin. But on the same token, a title in another language should be switched to english with the main language as an aka in the article. Users who come here should be searching for in english not another language (hence simple english). If they wanted it another language they can search on the relevant wikipedia. Sister project links
changeYou were doing some things with sister project links. Did you see Template:Sister project links? It puts them all in one box and is used on Beer. Lights and freedom (talk) 22:26, 6 July 2022 (UTC)
- @Lights and freedom yeah I’m aware of it. Typically I only add commons but some others I use the sister template. I just don’t come across it to often. PDLTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? 22:33, 6 July 2022 (UTC)
- Makes sense. The template may have some issues, like when you click on the commons link, some people come up whose last name is Beer. Linking to a commons category is probably better. Lights and freedom (talk) 22:37, 6 July 2022 (UTC)
- @Lights and freedom Yeah before I link them I do a preview and then right click and open it another window to see what comes. Sometimes it matches sometimes it needs the cat. The best way though is by using wikidata because when the cat is linked to wd for the Qid the article knows exactly where to pull from. Using WD is a whole other beast. New maintenance stuff
changeBefore creating new maintenance templates, categories, etc., please discuss them. Remember that we try to keep things simple here, and part of that means not having everything that enwiki has. Even when we do add new stuff, there is a lot of behind-the-scenes stuff that has to change. The template and/or categories you created weren't being managed correctly. You'll notice that I sent one of your new templates to RFD for this reason. Thanks. -- Auntof6 (talk) 08:43, 8 July 2022 (UTC)
- @Auntof6 Before posting here please wait until I respond to the RfD as I got the notices of everything you did. I would appreciate it. I also find it funny other people can do it and they don’t get these messages from you. It is coming off to me and a few other editors and 2 stewards, all that spoke to me offline, you appear to keep singling me out for whatever reason. I have done nothing wrong except make numerous improvements to simple wiki in article cleanup, updates, stubs, etc. I would sincerely appreciate it if you would stop appearing to be attacking me. This will drive me away and you will lose one of the more active editors of the few who are on here and stay. The RfD response will be posted in a few moments. PDLTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? 08:49, 8 July 2022 (UTC)
- And now I’m also going to add you just deleted all the categories I’ve been trying to populate with the BLPs for July that had pages in them. So I don’t know where those pages went as I just tagged a few which meets the 3 minimum and was tagging more before my email blew up with you deleting everything. - OK, I'm going to put the template back on the article where I replaced it, and I'll restore all the categories that become necessary because of that. (We don't create maintenance categories ahead of time, so I'm not going to restore any categories that are still empty.) After that I'll be able to point to some of the issues I saw. -- Auntof6 (talk) 09:24, 8 July 2022 (UTC)
- OK, I have put everything back. Be aware, though, that the empty July 2022 categories will nominate themselves for deletion if nothing shows up in them. -- Auntof6 (talk) 09:32, 8 July 2022 (UTC)
- @Auntof6 They will be populated I’m sure over the next couple of days at the rate pages get copied over from enWP. Thank you for restoring them back. As far as the link downwards it should be monthly maintenance then the issue by month ie the ones I created for July missing BLP references or only having one source for BLP, is that correct? PDLTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? 09:35, 8 July 2022 (UTC)

- If you identify the categories in question, I can restore them once there's something in them. -- Auntof6 (talk) 08:53, 8 July 2022 (UTC)
- And now I’m also going to add you just deleted all the categories I’ve been trying to populate with the BLPs for July that had pages in them. Recent changes
- In the Vector 2022 skin, the page title is now displayed above the tabs such as Discussion, Read, Edit, View history, or More. Learn more. [10]
- It is now possible to easily view most of the configuration settings that apply to just one wiki, and to compare settings between two wikis if those settings are different. For example: Japanese Wiktionary settings, or settings that are different between the Spanish and Esperanto Wikipedias. Local communities may want to discuss and propose changes to their local settings. Details about each of the named settings can be found by searching MediaWiki.org. [11]
- The Anti-Harassment Tools team recently deployed the IP Info Feature as a Beta Feature at all wikis. This feature allows abuse fighters to access information about IP addresses. Please check our update on how to find and use the tool. Please share your feedback using a link you will be given within the tool itself.
Changes later this week
- There is no new MediaWiki version this week.
- Some wikis will be in read-only for a few minutes because of a switch of their main database. It will be performed on 12 July at 07:00 UTC (targeted wikis).
Future changes
- The Beta Feature for DiscussionTools will be updated throughout July. Discussions will look different. You can see some of the proposed changes.

Maintenance and cleanup categories
changeJust FYI, not every maintenance category is a monthly cleanup category. The monthly ones are populated by maintenance tags that are added to articles. Categories like the ones about bad parameters or values in infoboxes are populated by templates. The latter are not monthly, and do not get set up with {{MonthlyCleanupCat}}. One clue is that setting up the bad parameter categories with {{MonthlyCleanupCat}} results in stray characters on the category page and bad categories at the bottom. -- Auntof6 (talk) 00:20, 12 July 2022 (UTC)
- @Auntof6: - I intended them to be only for testing, as I posted on your talk page this morning. But thank you for that information and I saved that command on my notepad. PDLTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? 00:23, 12 July 2022 (UTC)
- If you're using a category only for testing, you might not have to actually create it. Although if it remained populated, someone else might create it anyway (it's annoying to leave a populated category redlinked). --Auntof6 (talk) 00:27, 12 July 2022 (UTC)
- That is the thing @Auntof6: for based on what we are talking about on the CAT Talk page, it is from those templates I listed. PDLTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? 00:28, 12 July 2022 (UTC)

Change to Javanesic languages
changeHi, in Special:Diff/8317800 you removed some things in the infobox, including familycolor, fam2,3,4,5, and child1,2,3,4,5,6. Was this automatic or did you do it intentionally? Lights and freedom (talk) 22:14, 12 July 2022 (UTC)
- @Lights and freedom The families each have a different color. If you remember, this was one we were trying to fix from an LTA X-wiki. I was going through the template and just following the instructions for it. There is only one color required for the template Template:Infobox_language_family. From what I can tell it is a sub-language of one thing and then it has sub-languages so it was not my intention to remove it and as stated in the edit summary I am not too familiar with it so I kinda assumed that would be read as fix it if I messed up. I was populating the links to get rid of all the errors that were present at the time. However, as I was going through it, I refer you to my edit summary at [this diff] stating we have have an in-depth article article already on it so I let it go at this point. PDLTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? 22:34, 12 July 2022 (UTC)
- Yes, this article was made by a LTA but we decided to keep it because it's a real group of languages. It's not a copy of Javanese language because it's a group that includes Javanese and some others too.
- Just like animals are split into phylum, class, order, family, genus, species, languages are also split into groups from largest to smallest. The largest are language families such as Indo-European, Afro-Asiatic, or in this case, Austronesian. "familycolor" is a parameter for the language family. Depending on what the family is, it will automatically make the infobox a different color.
- "family2", "family3", and so on are groups of languages that get smaller. For example, Indo-European includes Italic, which includes Romance.
- "child1", "child2", and so on are the languages (or groups of languages) within the group. So if the article was about Romance languages, the child parameters would be Spanish, French, Portuguese, etc.
- I don't think these should cause any errors. Lights and freedom (talk) 22:58, 12 July 2022 (UTC)
- and again I state it was not my intention to remove it and as stated in the edit summary I am not too familiar with it so I kinda assumed that would be read as fix it if I messed up so feel free. PDLTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? 23:31, 12 July 2022 (UTC)

- @Lights and freedom BTW it is also not called “Javanesic languages.” It is called Javanese languages. So I did not do a page move either because a lot of the same content is on both articles and going by the official language guides, it is called Javanese language if you follow the hierarchy down as mentioned on the RfD. Your changes to Shinzo Abe
changeYou removed {{bio-stub}} from this article. I have put it back. An article is still a biography even if the person is dead. If you have made other similar changes, please do your best to go back and undo them. Needless to say, please don't remove the biography stub template from any more articles unless the article is no longer a stub and/or is not about a person. Thanks. -- Auntof6 (talk) 04:09, 13 July 2022 (UTC)
- @Auntof6 I have not. I interpreted it as a BLP, even though it was not that way. I won’t do it again as I know the definition of biography. PDLTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? 04:15, 13 July 2022 (UTC)

Assume good faith
changeI saw the change you reverted on Provinces and territories of Canada. That change did need to be reverted, but 1) I don't think it was vandalism and 2) I don't see what the MOS has to do with it. It's easy to miss the fact that the two sets of headings aren't the same—I missed it myself at first!—and think that the second set isn't needed. Please assume good faith and don't bite the newcomers! --Auntof6 (talk) 18:39, 31 May 2021 (UTC)
- I give up for the day. Seems everything I do, I am getting told not to do or getting comments from you that are disparaging me from even wanting to be on here. Even with the ordinal numbers, it is back to an edit war between the two IPs but nope, looks fine to you. I am off. Have a good day! PotsdamLamb (talk) 18:42, 31 May 2021 (UTC)
- I don't see why you have to get confrontational with Auntof6. She's just saying to assume good faith while addressing she's made a few mistakes herself in the past. No need to say every suggestion we give you are disparaging. --TDKR Chicago 101 (talk) 05:36, 1 June 2021 (UTC)
Quick deletion of 2020–21 EFL Championship
changeThe page you wrote, 2020–21 EFL Championship, has been selected for quick deletion. If you think this page should be kept, please add {{wait}} below the line {{QD}} and say why on the talk page. If the page is already gone, but you think this was an error, you can ask for it to be undeleted. You can find more information about the reason here. MathXplore (talk) 06:31, 2 June 2021 (UTC)
- Give articles content before you put them up. You can always develop content off-wiki by using a sub-page of your userpage, thus User:PotsdamLamb/Whatever. This becomes a sub-page of your userpage and can be put in the wiki by creating a normal page and transferring the content from your sub-page. Macdonald-ross (talk) 06:49, 2 June 2021 (UTC)
- @Macdonald-ross There are two of us working on it but the coding had to be fixed (which is now fixed). It said in the edit summary blank for editing and I should have been clearer on that hence why I posted the line on the page. PDLTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? 06:51, 2 June 2021 (UTC)
Be careful with using copyvio tools against en.wiki
changeJust wanted to let you know to be careful when comparing simple to en.wiki on copy violation tools. I just had to restore a number of pages you marked as copyright violations that were not, they were written by the same user so were not copyvios. -Djsasso (talk) 14:45, 2 June 2021 (UTC)
- While I appreciate your statement, there were many changes since the blocked and locked user created them. However, I will look for that as I was not aware that a criteria of a copyright violation was if it is copied over from Enwiki by the same user, then it isn't a copyright violation. Thank you for that information. PDLTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? 15:35, 2 June 2021 (UTC)

Your change to User talk:24.205.228.106
changeThis change was not necessary, for several reasons.
- There wasn't much on the page, so the page has wasn't long enough to need anything removed.
- What was there wasn't old.
- None of what you removed had anything to do with you, because it was all from other users.
I recommend not doing cleanup or maintenance on user or user talk pages other than your own. --Auntof6 (talk) 18:28, 2 June 2021 (UTC)

Your changes to Ninjago (TV series)
changeHi, PDL. I wanted to mention a couple of things about the changes you made to this article..
First this change where you added a reference section (thanks for doing that!), a commons template, and an authority control template, in that order. When you add a commons or commonscat template, it should be at the top of a section. en:Wikipedia:Wikimedia_sister_projects#Where_to_place_links explains how to place links to sister projects like Commons.
Second, in this change, you changed centre to center. Did you mean to change from the British spelling to the American spelling? The subject of the article is not American, so I'm not sure why you changed that. You might want to read WP:ENGVAR for information about when to use different varieties of English.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask. --Auntof6 (talk) 18:19, 4 June 2021 (UTC)
- @Auntof6 Thanks for pointing that out.
- I had pasted the page into my notepad++ and I had autocorrect on from something else I working on and forgot to disable it. I have changed the two words back.
- I will look at that link and adjust accordingly.
- Thanks much PDLTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? 18:24, 4 June 2021 (UTC)
- @Auntof6 Ok so I do have a question. Say references is the last section. I post the commons link there, then it comes up before the references. When I post it below the references, it shows to the right under the infobox. However, contrary to what you said, the article you linked me to with the sister link states
Most box-type templates such as {{Commons}} shown at right should be put at the beginning of the last section of the article (which is usually, but not necessarily, the "External links" section) so that boxes will appear next to, rather than below, the list items. Do not make a section whose sole content is box-type templates. Many box links can be unified to one by using {{Sister project links}} or {{Sister project}}.
You stated it...should be at the top off a section.
So now I am confused. It still seems to come up under the infobox if one is present, which is where I thought it had to be placed regardless of where it is placed. Can you clear that up for me please? PDLTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? 18:39, 4 June 2021 (UTC)- So this is one where I added it just after the closing of the infobox Revision of Maroon 5 PDLTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? 18:47, 4 June 2021 (UTC)
- Let me see if I can be clearer. You don't usually consider where the commons box appears with relation to an infobox. The only time you consider that is if the infobox reaches farther down the page than the article text, such that if you put the commons box in the last section it still appears after the infobox (instead of with the header it's placed under) and therefore makes the article visually longer. To keep it from making the article visually longer, you use the inline form of the commons template; when you use the inline form, it should always be in the others websites section, even if that's the only thing in that section. If that doesn't answer your question, let me know.
- All this goes for other sister-site templates, too (Wikiquote, Wikinews, etc.). And, of course, you should only use a commons template if there is actually something on Commons to link to: either a category or a gallery (my preference is always for a category). --Auntof6 (talk) 21:57, 4 June 2021 (UTC)
- @Auntof6: Yup after seeing your change here it makes a lot more sense now. I am assuming I should add the other sisters here too? BTW your edit put the page in the category of Category:Commons category template with no category set and in Category:Commons category without a link on Wikidata. Or is this part of that project you want me to work on? lol PDLTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? 22:11, 4 June 2021 (UTC)
- No, that's not part of the project I mentioned before. It looks like that happened because our article here wasn't attached to the Wikidata item. --Auntof6 (talk) 22:18, 4 June 2021 (UTC)

IRC
change Done
Hi, I noticed you are on IRC. I always considered registering to Freenode but it seemed a little confusing. Now everything is moving to Libera.chat I thought now might be a good time to start. I've read the Libera chat help pages on registering and I think I know how to register now. However, I'm pretty sure you reveal your IP address for a short time when you register. I'm wondering whether there is any way to avoid this (apart from using a VPN or proxy), or whether your IP address is even revealed. Thanks, --Ferien (talk) 18:56, 5 June 2021 (UTC)
- If you start and not go into any channels other than the main #Libera channel then no one will see your IP. Once you get registered and get your email and authenticate, then you will be good to join the channels with your name. Once you register you will need to log off and then back on to show properly. Using rollback
change
Please remember that rollback is to be used only for vandalism. You rolled back this change that was not vandalism. The user removed an image, but it was not vandalism. The edit summary said, in part, "too many images." You may disagree about whether there are too many images, but that edit was done in good faith so it was not vandalism. --Auntof6 (talk) 22:50, 6 June 2021 (UTC)
- @Auntof6 That is because they are one of many, many users who keep removing the exact same picture and then someone puts it back, a few minutes later it gets removed again. PDLTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? 22:52, 6 June 2021 (UTC)
- That's still not vandalism. At worst, it's an edit war, and you contributed to it. --Auntof6 (talk) 23:00, 6 June 2021 (UTC)
- @Auntof6 This is another article [history] where they are edit warring and they also keep removing anything related to Greek (notice that on Cheese they kept removing Feta cheese because it is greek and in the pizza article, they kept removing a picture of a pizza from Greece). And I was not as involved, but I did issue edit warring notices to them, again, they continued. I did report the one IP 88.105.95.54 at 9:30 PDT (my time) for the edit warring on VIP. I also apologize as it was not my intention to contribute, however, they are all involved in NPOV and it has been going on all week. PDLTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? 23:18, 6 June 2021 (UTC)

@Auntof6: I am literally in the middle of fixing the article. You just undid it so now I have to start all over again. PDLTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? 22:54, 6 June 2021 (UTC)
- First, why are you leaving me a message on your talk page? But more to the point, you do not have to start over. You can just undo (not revert) my change and it will be back where it was. I also recommend putting an in use template on the page if you don't want people to change it while you're working on it. Just be sure to take the template back off when you stop for the day. --Auntof6 (talk) 22:59, 6 June 2021 (UTC)
- Besides that, at the time I made my change, the article hadn't been changed in 2.5 hours. --Auntof6 (talk) 23:01, 6 June 2021 (UTC)

It seemed too much to have in the sentence like they did and way too much for a vertical list. What are your thoughts on Freestyle music? PDLTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? 00:38, 7 June 2021 (UTC)
- My thoughts:
- If all you have in the table is the name, then it doesn't need to be in a table. There are ways to make multiple columns instead of a strictly vertical list.
- The list of regional scenes should be bulleted instead of being in a table.
- Remove the other websites section and put the Commons template at the top of the references section. (By the way, when you have both a references section and an other websites section, the other websites section goes last.)
- The language could be a little bit simpler.
- I diffused the category.
- Hope that helps. --Auntof6 (talk) 00:46, 7 June 2021 (UTC)
- @Auntof6 Ok I did that all except simplification as I need to start making dinner. It is mexican night. I saw you removed the commonscat. I am wondering if there is a redirect on commons because when I just put that in, it takes you the electronic dance music page. I was wondering about the stub as I always thought it looked weird on a lot of our articles being shoved up in the page. Thank you for those fixes. - It took you to the electronic dance music page because that's how it was coded (look closely at how it was coded). --Auntof6 (talk) 01:32, 7 June 2021 (UTC)
- Because I changed it to get the error out of the cats about it not matching the page it was going to. With just the commonscat it went to that page. PDLTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? 01:33, 7 June 2021 (UTC)
- @Auntof6 I think I got it down right now. I simplified what I could, what are your thoughts on that part? I also corrected a ref I missed last night and added an archive as the original is dead. PDLTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? 18:25, 7 June 2021 (UTC)

Latest tech news from the Wikimedia technical community. Please tell other users about these changes. Not all changes will affect you. Translations are available.
Changes later this week
- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 8 June. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 9 June. It will be on all wikis from 10 June (calendar).
Future changes
- The Wikimedia movement uses Phabricator for technical tasks. This is where we collect technical suggestions, bugs and what developers are working on. The company behind Phabricator will stop working on it. This will not change anything for the Wikimedia movement now. It could lead to changes in the future. [12][13][14]
- Searching on Wikipedia will find more results in some languages. This is mainly true for when those who search do not use the correct diacritics because they are not seen as necessary in that language. For example searching for
Bedusz
doesn't findBędusz
on German Wikipedia. The characterę
isn't used in German so many would writee
instead. This will work better in the future in some languages. [15] - The CSRF token parameters in the action API were changed in 2014. The old parameters from before 2014 will stop working soon. This can affect bots, gadgets and user scripts that still use the old parameters. [16][17]

Your changes are breaking syntax
change Done
I'm not going to check all of your Check Wikipedia-related changes, at least not yet, but some of your attempts at fixing the "Table not correct end" error have either broken some syntax or left stray characters. Examples:
- doesn't appear to have fixed the problem: there are still stray characters
- broke infobox syntax
- appears to have added stray characters
- left stray characters
When fixing errors from the Check Wikipedia list, keep in mind that they may already have been fixed. The errors don't disappear from the list automatically; they must be manually removed. The farther in the past date the error was found is, the more likely it is that someone has already fixed it.
Also look at the article before you change it to see what the supposed error is doing. Preview it before saving to make sure that 1) the error was fixed and 2) no new problem has appeared.
Please check all the related changes you've made before you process any more. Thanks. --Auntof6 (talk) 20:29, 7 June 2021 (UTC)
- @Auntof6 Aplogoies, typically I do. I have gone back and checked all of the changes, a few were reverted already. PDLTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? 20:55, 7 June 2021 (UTC)
Questions about another change
change Done
Wpuld you please explain a couple of things about this change?
- Why did you remove publisher parameters from citation templates?
- Why did you change {{Use mdy dates|date=August 2019}} to {{Use mdy dates|date=June 2019}}?
Thanks. --Auntof6 (talk) 21:42, 7 June 2021 (UTC)
- @Auntof6 The script I used must have stripped the publisher information - apologies for once again not paying close enough attention. The month change for the MDY was done by the script to change all to the requested format and it automatically updated it June 2021, I only reverted the year and not the month. Again, I wasn't pay close enough attention. I will triple check everything before I do it. PDLTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? 22:05, 7 June 2021 (UTC)
- @Auntof6 Also, please give me some time. I will go through all of the changes I have made and if I see any errors, I will correct them. I am in the middle of something else right now away from my computer. PDLTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? 22:44, 7 June 2021 (UTC)
- Thanks. That is acceptable. :) --Auntof6 (talk) 23:00, 7 June 2021 (UTC)
- @Auntof6 Thanks. Much appreciated. I have used those scripts for 2 years. This is the first time I have ever had that issue (except the MDY<-->DMY conversion). PDLTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? 23:02, 7 June 2021 (UTC)
- @Auntof6 So I went through some of the more recent ones and didn't see any errors. I think it was just the ones from yesterday because further back I could not find any syntax breaking. Today I have been working off of the Check Wikipedia page instead of the actual application. I noticed it hasn't had a dump in 7 days, so that may have been part of the issue, but I am triple-checking everything that I am doing today. PDLTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? 20:51, 8 June 2021 (UTC)
- I think the Check Wikipedia page doesn't update the date if it finds the same error. What I've done sometimes is just mark all of the ones for a given error as done, then wait for it to be updated so I know all the ones there are still current. Also, I don't know how you're organizing your work, but if you look at an individual article on Check Wikipedia then click on "more" it will show you if there are multiple errors (including multiple kinds of errors) for that article. Finally, be aware that for some of the errors, just because Check Wikipedia has flagged something doesn't mean it necessarily needs to be fixed or changed. --Auntof6 (talk) 23:49, 8 June 2021 (UTC)
- @Auntof6 Yeah after you pointed that stuff out yesterday I’m working off just that list for now. I open the article look for the error “it supposedly has” fix it if I find it. If I don’t see it, I’ll manually check everything else and run my scripts to get everything aligned. Then once it comes back after I publish and I don’t see any errors in the hidden cats and the page looks correct and I don’t see anything broken I go back to that page and click on done. I think I figured out why some of the publisher stuff got ripped out. I noticed today it was changed based on the citation type. If they are cite journal (I think it was) it changes it to work= and if it doesn’t match something in the DB it removes it.
- We also need to get the tool bar fixed for when adding citations to implement all of the new parameters that replaced the old ones like accessdate being changed to access-date. I put that on my list for tomorrow to contact the meta tech team to fix that.
- My understanding of WPC is it is supposed to pull the most recent page from simple and load it. Once it loads I click on the check for errors button and see if it still exists, as I tested today I took a page that came up in the program and I manually fixed it on site. Published went back to the program closed out the article and then clicked to open it and it said it had been fixed. So maybe it just doesn’t parse tables (embedded ones too) correctly.
- One other thing I noticed is on the football template it doesn’t like anyone putting a third uniform in. It will show on the article as having a third uniform complete with the pictures but then says it is an unknown parameter. Maybe @Djsasso: would like to take a kick at it. It’s the international football teams template I believe. That is all I have today. I’m going to finish helping Froggy on his article so it can get promoted then correct all the citations on the nazi smoking article as that is going to take a huge amount of time. - Yeah, if you're processing from Check Wikipedia, please make sure to mark the ones you take care of as done. Otherwise they'll stay on the list forever. --Auntof6 (talk) 00:15, 9 June 2021 (UTC)
- Oh yeah. I’ve been doing that. I got a few of the high priorities done. PDLTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? 00:19, 9 June 2021 (UTC)

About Neptune
change Done
Excuse me, you promised to send some comments about this article. Where can I read them? Frontfrog (talk) 07:14, 8 June 2021 (UTC)
- @Frontfrog I was waiting until you were done. I can read proof it in the morning when I get up and I tackle another small project I promised someone I would do. PDLTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? 07:17, 8 June 2021 (UTC)
- @Frontfrog So I went through and made quite a few changes, including copy edit for words, grammar, punctuation. I also formatted all the citations as they should be and made some spacing to separate the sections so they are easier to read. I did a mass change on dates, so it should all be DMY (i.e.6 June 2021). A couple points for you to remember:
- Author names have to be separated so you have to use |last= |first= |last2= |first2= etc. If you do not, it throws an error. There were quite a few I had to do that to. You also cannot use commas in the authors name (i.e. Frog, Front) that is why they are separated by a pipe and the module puts them together. I still have a couple of them to find, as it is time consuming to read word for word and look for these giant pain in the butts.
- When you use any of the cite templates, you have to have a title for it. If you do not, it also throws an error. You had one that was a cite journal but no journal name, I used the name of the paper with the No. 525 added to it. When I looked at this, it was more of a cite web.
- References, when you put them in, use the citation drop down templates, and fill in as many as you can. There are some that are required and some optional. I prefer to fill in as many as I can. If I am researching to clean up an article and I come to a dead link with no fix, I use the archive.org website to find it based on the access date. This is why I find the accessed date one of the most important so we can find the correct version that was cited.
- I ran a few scripts to also help me clean it up some.
- When creating an article, you want to look down at the categories. In the hidden section, you will see if anything is throwing an error. You want to fix those, especially when you want to promote an article. Right now, it still shows two errors. I can work on them more tomorrow. They can be time consuming as well.
- I adjusted the sister projects links to only show the ones that are related to the planet Neptune. If you just use sisterprojectslink it will link to all of them, even if nothing is in it, which is very bad. You want to make sure everything you link is valid and available.
- You want to avoid using pay research methods like Britannica because it requires a membership or library card. It does not really work well outside of the US because of different countries laws. I have a library card and an account, so I am able to access it, but I am weird too.
- So take a look at the history of the page and compare things and you will see the changes so far. If you have any questions, please feel free to post here and I will answer them when I can. Even if it is just why did you do this? I should be able to complete this tomorrow morning. PDLTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? 23:06, 8 June 2021 (UTC)
- Thank you for your work. Will you still be editing today? Frontfrog (talk) 15:42, 9 June 2021 (UTC)
- @Frontfrog Yes I will put the in use tag on it so I can finalize everything for you. It shouldn't take too long. PDLTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? 16:14, 9 June 2021 (UTC)
- @Frontfrog Alright! All errors have been corrected. Please proof the article (from viewing screen, not editing screen) and insure all looks well. My kitten likes to jump on my desk and an extra letter may be added somewhere. I am done with everything I can do to it at this point. PDLTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? 21:18, 9 June 2021 (UTC)

- It seems to me very well-done. Thank you so much! I did another one edit because word "it contains" in intro repeated 2 times in a row. I think you can support to GA in the voting.Frontfrog (talk) 21:44, 9 June 2021 (UTC)
- @Frontfrog I dunno about that yet. The angel on my right shoulder says yes, the devil on my left shoulder says don't do it. lol. I will hop over there in a minute.
- Items to note:
- You have a redlink in the infobox pointing to Ammonium hydrosulfide
- I would check all your links and make sure you did not over link to articles. Usually it is only the first instance of the word, however, in an article this long, you can also link it a couple of sections down. It really should not be linked more than 2-3 times throughout the article.
- On the flip side of this, make sure you do link to any other words which may be harder to understand for the average reader of Simple Wikipedia.
- Question: I believe 'moon' and 'satellites' are the same thing. Is that correct? If so, in the infobox you state 13 known satellites and in the body of the article you state 14 moons. The article about the moons lists 14 known moons. (ref [[List of Neptune's moons#List of moons|Neptunes list of moons. Thanks, PDLTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? 22:00, 9 June 2021 (UTC)

- So I pointed 14 satelites in the infobox. Please tell me for the future which sections specifically require simplification? Frontfrog (talk) 06:20, 10 June 2021 (UTC)
