The Occasion change

A QD A4 case; forwarding the deletion request here as an user keeps on removing the QD templates; also requesting semi-protection for the creation of the page; persistently being recreated. – Cyber.Eyes2005Talk 17:38, 11 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Report concerning change

Jayson Bautista change

I think this is a QD A4 case but new accounts and IPs are repeating QD tag removal, so I will forward the QD request to here. MathXplore (talk) 09:30, 14 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Already   Done, I have reverted a change by an IP editor who changed section headings. MathXplore (talk) 13:13, 14 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Hello everyone good evening change

Nice to meet you all 🥰 (talk) 10:25, 14 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Remove lock/protection change

Plls removed protection on Stolen Life a movie from GMA thank you (talk) 10:26, 14 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Hello there, there doesn't appear to be protection on the article you mention. --Ferien (talk) 15:58, 14 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Mass rollback needed change

Hello admins, I have gone through and reverted some edits as AGF and some as vandal. I don’t want to go through everyone of their edits and revert them one by one. The problems I’ve seen with this IP:

  • Not following WP:MOS in relation to English use (they keep using UK instead of US on US articles). Also they keep putting the wrong date format instead of MDY they are using DMY.
  • Bolding in numerous articles where it is not needed. Namily bolding titles of movies, books, etc. that are already italicized with the article itself.
  • I did issue a final warning since they kept going despite previous warnings. They stopped doing everything after I issued that.
  • There was one article I reverted in AGF with a comment about the format and they went back and did it correctly, however, I still removed it as it has no bearing on the article (a lot of edits were about the same movies (copy and paste) coming back into theaters and also has no references. These are not relevant to the articles as we are not a repository for every time a movie comes into theaters again.
  • Lack of references to support their statements then put in the articles (again relating to the movies).
  • I have also seen they have already gotten numerous warnings for things. Maybe a block would be in order if they continue.

Here is the contribution page. Thanks - Da LambTalk to me!Please don't eat da 🐑! 12:03, 14 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Grayson Eddey change

A QD G4 case; forwarding deletion request here as an editor keeps on removing the QD templates (See: Wikipedia:Requests for deletion/Requests/2024/Grayson Eddey). – Cyber.Eyes2005Talk 15:47, 14 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Deleted as A4. @Cyber.Eyes.2005: you won't come across it too much, but G4 actually doesn't apply here as the RfD resulted in a soft close, w:WP:SOFTDELETE on enwiki gives you more info as to what a soft delete is. --Ferien (talk) 15:51, 14 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Got it, thanks for clarifying! – Cyber.Eyes2005Talk 15:54, 14 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Hvor kan finne sandbox? change

I neither found Village pump to ask nor could find sandbox on Simple English Wikipedia. Are these pages found here? If not, please explain why. اربابی دوم (talk) 16:52, 14 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

@اربابی دوم The village pump is Wikipedia:Simple talk, which is in the sidebar. There is a general sandbox at Wikipedia:Sandbox, and you can make your own at User:اربابی دوم/Sandbox.
Note to admins: I have seen several people request a personal sandbox link in the toolbar, like on English Wikipedia. Could this be added? Kk.urban (talk) 16:57, 14 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@Kk.urban   Thank you اربابی دوم (talk) 17:35, 14 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@Kk.urban Hi. Users can create their own sandbox. I know this has been brought up before but due to something it was decided not to enact that. I think it had something to do with coding and enabling certain features. An admin can enlighten more or you can search simple talk archives for sandbox and see what pops up. Thanks - Da LambTalk to me!Please don't eat da 🐑! 14:47, 15 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Semi-Protection change

Please set my talk and user page to indef auto confirmed only please. Thanks - Da LambTalk to me!Please don't eat da 🐑! 17:45, 15 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

@PotsdamLamb: Done for your user page. Not done for your talk page because that would restrict who can communicate with you -- not only for general messages, but also automated messages such as RFD and QD notifications. -- Auntof6 (talk) 19:47, 15 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@Auntof6 Those come from an auto-confirmed posting or a bot like, or do they come from the users? Thanks - Da LambTalk to me!Please don't eat da 🐑! 19:55, 15 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@PotsdamLamb: The specific ones I mentioned come from users. There might be some that come from bots. When I said "automated messages," I was thinking of messages from things like using Twinkle to do a QD request or RFD. -- Auntof6 (talk) 20:18, 15 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Possible refund change

Hi admins. I wanted to see if my custom JavaScript page can be restored. I know it’s been awhile and it not possible, that is ok too. I had a lot of scripts on it to assist me and some things I can’t use due to the block on en wiki. Thanks. Thanks - Da LambTalk to me!Please don't eat da 🐑! 06:05, 16 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

@PotsdamLamb: It might be possible. Can you give the name of it so I know what to look for? -- Auntof6 (talk) 09:25, 16 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@Auntof6 Can you try User:PotsdamLamb/monobook.js. It should be filled with mw.loader lines. It was part of the mass deletion back on that fateful day (I would check around August 3, 2022 and a few days after that). I believe Ferien did a majority of it with some help from others. Thanks - Da LambTalk to me!Please don't eat da 🐑! 09:54, 16 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@PotsdamLamb: I found it. It was deleted on 20 June 2022. However, since you have created it again, I can't use the normal restore process. It won't even let me just copy the code into your current page because it's a js page. I'm going to defer to another admin for the best way to handle this. Maybe it takes more than just admin rights to deal with it.
If you find other pages you want restored, please don't create them first because it might complicate the process. -- Auntof6 (talk) 10:10, 16 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@Auntof6 Can you copy the code and send me an email through the system and I can edit it? It probably would take an interface admin to do it since it’s a .js page? Thanks - Da LambTalk to me!Please don't eat da 🐑! 10:13, 16 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@PotsdamLamb: OK. Stand by. -- Auntof6 (talk) 10:24, 16 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@PotsdamLamb: Done. Let me know if you don't get it. -- Auntof6 (talk) 10:25, 16 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@Auntof6 I got it, however, it is polluted due to spam protection messing up all the links. So I will need an interface admin to load that back up for me or if you want, you can delete the current one and put that one back in if that works. Thanks - Da LambTalk to me!Please don't eat da 🐑! 10:44, 16 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@PotsdamLamb: I'll leave it to someone else. I didn't see a way to selectively restore an old version. --Auntof6 (talk) 10:46, 16 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@Auntof6 Ok give me a moment to change my email in the system and then you can resend it if you would please. Thanks - Da LambTalk to me!Please don't eat da 🐑! 10:51, 16 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@Auntof6 ok it’s changed. If you can resend it I’d appreciate it. Thanks - Da LambTalk to me!Please don't eat da 🐑! 10:53, 16 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
  Done -- Auntof6 (talk) 11:04, 16 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Special:Contributions/SABYAROY change

I would like to note that this user has been repeating unsourced complex page creations despite having many warnings and notices. According to Special:CentralAuth/SABYAROY (w:special:redirect/logid/159051437), the user is blocked from enwiki due to "adding unsourced (content) repeatedly after warnings". Should we continue to allow edits from the user, or should we have our admins enforce WP:ONESTRIKE? MathXplore (talk) 08:00, 17 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

@MathXplore I agree as I just marked a lot of their edits and reverted them. They have not been notified (I have now done so) with a caution notice. I would also ask for a block on this account, however, they didn’t receive notice of Wikipedia:ONESTRIKE so I can’t endorse this right now. However, if they continue, I would endorse it. However, understanding, this is completely an admin decision. Thanks - Da LambTalk to me!Please don't eat da 🐑! 08:36, 17 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@MathXplore   Done by Fehufanga. After the notice they continued so I fully agree with you. Thanks - Da LambTalk to me!Please don't eat da 🐑! 22:18, 17 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Review for non-admin supress-redirect action by a global rollbacker change

According to Wikipedia:Global_rights_policy#Global_rollback, non-admin global rollbackers are only allowed to use supress-redirect to revert vandalism. Requesting Autoconfirmed change

Hi, I'm an English Wikipedia editor with 2.5K+ edits. I'd like to do some work on Simple Wikipedia using the Twinkle gadget but I'm unable to as I don't have autoconfirmed role. More specifically, I'd like to nominate Christian Carlo Cilli for deletion using the gadget. Thank you! tlatlak 21:20, 19 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

(non-admin comment) Can you add the relevant WP:Quick deletion template manually without being autoconfirmed? Nothing should stop that specific edit as far as I know. Philipnelson99 (talk) 21:22, 19 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Yeah, but I'm not too clear that it meets speedy deletion. tlatlak 00:15, 20 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@I'm tla: Hi, I'm tla, and welcome to Simple English Wikipedia. I'm sorry, but we don't explicitly give the confirmed or autoconfirmed role. Getting autoconfirmed requires only 10 changes and an account that's 4 days old, so why not find a few constructive edits to make and wait for the 4 days?
If you'd like to know other ways that this wiki is different from other Wikipedias, you can look at this list I maintain of things that are different here. The list itself is not a policy of guideline, but it links to some relevant policies and guidelines. If you have any questions about it, feel free to ask me. -- Auntof6 (talk) 02:23, 20 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Allosaurus robustus change

In this article it describes this as being a bone, however, reading the PMC citation, they talk about 3 dinosaurs. I cannot get wikidata to link and I think I figured it out. The actual article is correctly identified at EN:Wiki:Australovenator. Their wikidata link is also correct. The problem I’m having is when I move articles with scientific names to their actual article name leaving the simplified version as a redirect and make sure it starts off with a simpler version of the name, an admin undoes that move with the edit statement of “simpler” and then it breaks the connection again. I do not want to get in an edit war with an admin, so I would like to know what to do. I am posting it here as the admin is the one who reverts it and I sent an email asking why and explained in depth why I made the move and have yet to get a reply. So from an admin point of view, I would like to know how to proceed from here. I will note there a lot of other articles that need this done and I believe the simplest way is a redirect with the simple name to the scientific name so it pulls the authority control and taxonomy correctly and does not need to be fumbled around with that can cause issues further down the road. Thanks - PDLTalk to me!Please don't eat da 🐑! 10:31, 21 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

In this case I suggest deleting the page Allosaurus robustus, and keeping the page Allosaurus which describes the Jurassic animal which is so well-known, from the Morrison Formation (Upper Jurassic) of Oklahoma, USA. Macdonald-ross (talk) 15:47, 22 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@Macdonald-ross I was wondering that. Do we need an article on a bone (or any bones) of an extinct animal? These (IMO) can be set as redirects. With the admin’s permission, I would like to redirect the page to the main article about the actual animal. Thanks - PDLTalk to me!Please don't eat da 🐑! 03:30, 23 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Yes, go ahead. In any event we usually don't need the specific (species) name in the title. On occasion more than one species is known, and are important. Those titles can be decided on a case-by-case basis. Macdonald-ross (talk) 09:04, 23 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Do we need these? change

There is a ton of articles on the 2020 US Election results titled 2020 United States presidential election in (insert state name here). I do not think we need these as we already have 2020 United States presidential election. Article June Spencer change

Hi Admins,

While Ms. Spencer is definitely worthy of an article there are quite a few issues I see. The article was created by a now blocked user and all edits to this article that have been done have resulted in blocks as well for various reasons. Also a now new user has started editing it again and may be part of the blocked IPs from previous. This will require a CU investigatation. This is also a huge almost 100% copy vio from English Wikipedia just by reading the first two paragraphs alone as well as reading all the changes done to it have brought this article down hill and have re-introduced issues such as complex English, using her stage name as her real name and linking to bad articles. I would just do a rollback but the new user has made so many edits on the article I’m liable to mess it up which I don’t want to do. Maybe an admin can take a look and give guidance and I’ll also post a CU request. Thanks - PDLTalk to me!Please don't eat da 🐑! 08:49, 23 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Auto wiki task request change

Hello admins. On the article List of countries by continents every single link is linked to en wiki for country names and so forth. Can these all be de-linked so they are on simple and not en via autowiki? This would be way too tedious to do manually. Unless an admin thinks every link on the article should go to the more complicated versions, can this request be done? I know it’s been there a long time and I just saw a flagged edit on cvn which caused me to look at it (also I did not know of the article prior to this).
